  1. Short days stink.
  2. Merry Christmas back at you, my friend.
  3. The basic construction of the intake boots is the same for both 1st and 2nd gens. There is an aluminum core inside the rubber, but it's not visible from either the inside or the outside. It can be seen from the the underside of the base, and that's it. But it extends 2/3 the way up inside the boot. A line of cracks will usually appear first in the area of the top of that aluminum core. Cracks on the outside may or may not go all the way through. The boots will generally last a long time even after cracks appear on the outside.
  4. Are you still looking for that last one? I happened across another company you might check out. http://www.jameco.com
  5. Thanks for keeping us updated. I sent him a card a while back, when his son mentioned that we could use his address.
  6. They're the same lens. He just doesn't list our bikes.
  7. More chrome! Has anyone tried these things? How does light shine through chrome? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Yamaha-V-Max-Road-Star-VStar-650-1100-CHROME-LENSES_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ35580QQihZ011QQitemZ320198418772QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
  8. You suck. And if I lived down there I would suck too.
  9. That sounds like a Letterman list. Once in a while he will put together a good one.
  10. The plot thickens.
  11. It's called male PMS - parked motorcycle syndrome. Yes, I have it. Thanks for reminding me that it isn't even winter yet. We've been buried in ice storms and snow storms here already, and I forgot that it isn't officially winter yet. Thanks a lot pal ol' buddy. Summertime in Australia. Christmas in the middle of summer. Just doesn't seem right. So how does Santa get around in his sleigh without any snow?
  12. Tourmaster, is that the Synergy brand on the 'wing site?
  13. So is he sending out parts in bad condition, or not sending parts out at all? This is probably best left to Don to handle.
  14. A cousin of mine had one of those many years ago. It was a gorgeous maroon color, and it was huge compared to the Honda Twinstar 200 I was riding at the time. He was selling it and I wanted it, but I couldn't make it happen then. I was looking at them before I came across my current Royal Star. I could see a two range tranny or a two speed rear gear coming in real handy. Instantly go from tire shredder to laid back highway cruiser with all five gears in either range.
  15. Santa visited you already? Wow. You must have your own time zone there in MO. Don't blow the whole wad of projects all at once. There's quite a bit of winter left.
  16. Did you put new pads in while you were at it? If so, did it take much force to get the pistons farther in to make room for the new fatter pads? It sounds to me like the pistons are stuck and are not releasing for some reason.
  17. Winter's only just begun. Now what are you going to do? I guess you'll have to do some more upgrades. Spread them out a bit this time though.
  18. Wow, I'm jealous. I wish I could airbrush like that. I'm just not an artist. Excellent work.
  19. MP3 players will be going by the wayside soon, and y'all will be using a thumb drive, like one of these. Hey Squid, why don't you like an inline four? The last bike I rode before getting this one was an '81 XS1100, which has an I4. I thought that engine was pretty nice. It ran a lot smoother than our current V4. The only thing I want in the next bike is more power. If the FJR 1300 can make 145 hp, then there's no excuse for our V4 1300 not to be making that much. We don't really need to have 1800 cubes to get more power. And if they do happen to give the Venture the new 1800, they'll probably detune it to where it's not making any more power than that anyway.
  20. Put a cover on each scoot, and put a light bulb under each cover near the bottom. The heat will keep water from condensing on the metal parts.
  21. Here are a few places I know. http://www.mouser.com http://www.alliedelec.com http://www.mcmelectronics.com
  22. The red and white color combination was available on the '96 and '97 Royal Stars. But I'm guessing you mean the mufflers. The four muffler systems won't fit the Ventures and newer Tour Deluxes. The bags on those set quite a bit lower and take up the space where my upper mufflers set. The lower mufflers are in the same place. If you want four mufflers, you'll have to get a '96 - '01 Royal Star. But then you won't have a trunk. And even of these years you'll have to watch what you get. Some have four mufflers and some have two. The two muffler models will have have hard fiberglass bags similar to the later Ventures. Those bags won't fit the four muffler models though. The four muffler models will have semi hard leather bags or other soft bags, or no bags. I suppose you could get all the brackets and stuff to put four mufflers on a Venture. I've never heard of anyone doing this. And you wouldn't be able to mount your hard bags. You'd have to go with a soft bag of some sort. Personally I think soft bags with a hard trunk would look a little goofy, mixing different themes on the same bike like that.
  23. Four individual mufflers is what you're looking for? They won't fit the Ventures. They came on some of the '96 - '01 Royal Star models, but not even all of them. Four symmetrical mufflers is one of the things that sold me on my bike. There are 4 into 2 slash cut mufflers around that would fit the Venture.
  24. The Royal Stars and TDs use a bolt there to hold the rear seat in place. I suppose rather than have another design of rear fender, they use the same one and just stick a bolt in the hole to cover it. I haven't looked at an RSV enough to notice that.
  25. The time I realized that they really will sell anything on ebay is when I heard about the deer butthole doorbell, or the grilled cheese sandwich of Turin. Is dealer sales literature for a 1st gen Venture really on such a par?
