passanger highway pegs?
pegscraper replied to big_mike's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
There have been posts here too, one very recently, of a couple folks who have made their own brackets that mount underneath the rear floorboard mounting brackets that will hold another set of footpegs farther down. You might look through the 2nd gen technical sections and find them. -
I usually do my own front end alignments on my cars. Given that riding season is coming upon us before too long, I thought it would be a good time to do the same on my bike after its winter sleep. But as yet, I'm unable to find the caster and camber adjustments. Where are the daggone things on this bike?

Must be all that global goring.

R6 & R1 Front Calipers
pegscraper replied to Rick Butler's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Sounds like an interesting idea. Anything to get more action out of these front brakes would be good. I'm pretty unimpressed with them. I didn't know you had four piston 1st gen calipers on your bike, Rick. How do you like those? Do they give you more stopping power? What does it take to mount them? What is the MTA forum? -
I turned up some old rod bearings and even some mains, but I don't have any lifters around anywhere. I used to have several old sets, but I must have tossed them along with the old cams. Still interested? Why in the world do you want this stuff? I can't imagine.

Have you ever tried a sheepskin? They help a lot. The shape of the stock seat is just wrong for some people. I'm one of them. I wound up with a Corbin Dual Tour seat, and while some will say that a Corbin will take a few thousand miles to break in, I loved it right out of the box.

2008 Rstd
pegscraper replied to Principal's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
The only real thing would be to not shift as low as you would the V twin that you've been used to. This V4 engine likes to wind up a little more. If you ever need to really git up and go, don't be afraid to wind it up until you hit the rev limiter, which would be around 80 or so in second gear. Other than that, buy chrome. Buy the chrome of your choice. But buy chrome. I'm itching to ride, but nowhere near VA. -
Disco Duck. I don't remember who squawked it.

It's about 50* here. The roads are clear. The sun is out. It's a nice afternoon for a ride. And my driveway is nothing but packed frozen snow and ice. I have no way to get the bike out.

I very likely have things like that lying around from previous engine rebuilds, if I haven't cleaned up and thrown them away. Let me go look.

I'm looking for a light switch.
pegscraper replied to Mariner Fan's topic in GPS, Audio, Electronics
I rewired the kill switch to operate the passing lamps. Made that switch actually good for something. -
I doubt they'll hold paint at all. I've modified a few airboxes and tried to do some stuff with gluing them. No glue I had would stick to them. I asked around what kind of plastic it was, and was told it was probably some kind of polyethylene, which is commonly used for airboxes because of its high resistance to gasoline and other chemicals. Meaning that paint won't stick either.

Wow. Well I guess we might as well just delete this whole thread then. What worthless information we've put up here. Sorry for trying. I won't bother next time.

Here are a couple more sites for things to do or see in southern ON. Explore Bruce county West Montrose covered bridge I think this is the only one in southern ON.

Oh wow. No protective gear. Ouch.

We're the Hotel California here.

The Nov. '07 issue of Baggers had an article on a Yamaha Roadstar done up to sort of resemble an Indian. It's a seriously sharp looking bike. I have scans of the magazine pages, but they're too large to post here. I'll post a couple pics of just the bike.

Compared to the ratings I see on heated jackets and such being in the neighborhood of 75 watts and more, 24 watts just doesn't sound like much. And then about the jackets, I read that you're not supposed to wear very heavy clothing underneath one, as the heating elements need to be pretty well right next to you to transfer the heat. Considering all the winter clothing, jeans - maybe flannel lined, chaps, possibly long johns, and add to that the material of the seat, are you really going to be able to feel 24 watts of heat through all that? I guess the only way to really know would be to try it and see.

Here is the full discussion about it on a Delphi board. Down around reply #43 you will find some scans of Motorcycle Cruiser magazine pages defining the differences. The model year 1998 seems to be particularly confusing. None of the models listed there match yours exactly. If anything, it seems to look like a Cheyenne model with bags and passenger backrest added. http://forums.delphiforums.com/royalstar/messages?msg=6110.1 I would call yours a Tour Classic. One of the biggest defining factors seems to be the number of mufflers and the type of bags. Tour Classic usually refers to four mufflers and semi hard leather bags. Tour Deluxe usually refers to two mufflers and fiberglass hard bags, and this carries to the '05 and newer models as well. As far as your title goes, the dealer was probably inattentive when they filled out the paperwork when it was first sold. But there's so much overlapping of accessories in the model names anyway, plus the fact that anything could have been changed or added later, that I wouldn't be too concerned about it.

Only 2 amps? I would have thought you couldn't get enough heat out of 2 amps to do any good. Apparently it works though, or he wouldn't be doing it.

They were different trim options on the early Royal Stars. There were three or four different bags that could be had, two mufflers or four mufflers, backrest and windshield packages. I have seen recently somewhere what all the differences are supposed to be. I'll see if I can dig it up. And the thing of it is that the labels seemed to overlap quite a bit too. And dealers are also apt to switch things around for a customer.

VMax rear end - first 600 miles
pegscraper replied to BigShell's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
A two speed rear end would be fantastic, wouldn't it? Ah, something else to invent. -
There's a real nice set of custom air filter housings on ebay right now that have K&N filters in them. It's too bad I can't use these. I think these are really cool. Ebay item #250217207016.

Everything you wanted to know about Motorcycling.
pegscraper replied to DwightGA's topic in Watering Hole
Wow. There's a lot of reading there. Thanks. -
Go ahead and post the other V Max sites you know of. I know of a couple others myself, but the format of the forum makes them a PIA to use, and I seldom do. I'd like to know of a few others too.
