Back to the warehouse, I see. Very nice looking mufflers. You've only just begun...

I'll be interested to see what in the world you do with that stuff. Might be some more stuff on the way too.

R6 & R1 Front Calipers
pegscraper replied to Rick Butler's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Well, here they are. They bolt right in and fit like they were made for it. They're bled and ready to test out. But it's raining pretty good here today, so I'm staying in. Right off, from what little I can tell in the garage, they feel pretty promising. The first pic is my original calipers, which turned out to be a four piston bolt together type, where I believe the RSVs have two piston calipers. The second pic is the R1/R6 calipers. My chrome caliper covers will need a bit of a tweak to fit around the brake hose now, so I'll wait to see what I think of these before doing that. At the very least, one would want to put the small chrome covers like what is on my original calipers onto the R1/R6 calipers to hide the colored star pieces. Now I'm anxious to get out and see what happens. Freakin' rain. We don't need any more. Our yard is so sopping wet that the ground squishes like a sponge when I walk through it. -
Super Tech Filters CHANGED
pegscraper replied to sandiegobrass's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Thanks for the heads up. I used to use the line that why should I change from what I know works. The only answer I come up with is that they took what worked and changed it into something that doesn't work so well. They're so busy changing things that work into things that don't work, it's hard to keep up anymore. But change is good right? Just ask B.O. I guess it's time to change brands then. So what's inexpensive but still good now? -
This is the first bike I've had with a heel shifter. Before this I'd never heard of it. I had a hard time getting used to it. Then when I thought I was finally used to it and not thinking about it anymore, one day I noticed that I was using my toe again and not using my heel. After that I cut it off. That gave me a lot more room to move my foot around when on a long ride. Don't need it, don't want it. It's just in my way. Never had a toe shifter scuff up the top of my boot. I don't understand that comment at all.

The nuisance of it is that I have to export the thing, then get info to see what MB size the thing came out to be. If it's still too big for a certain place I want to put a pic, then I have to guess at it all over again. Plus I lose the custom icon too. I know there are entire books just on using iPhoto, so maybe the features are in there someplace yet. But rather than spend a bunch of time figuring something else out, I keep doing it the way I know how to do it, the lesser nuisance. Mail now has a picture resizing feature right in it, which shows the MB size as you're choosing it. Drag a pic into an email note, reduce it, and drag it back out. Really fast and quite a bit more convenient. But it reduces the dimensions of the pic more than I think is necessary for the file size. I wish there were a way to change the parameters of that.
-
I have a Mac with iPhoto. Maybe you can explain a couple things to me. Is there a way to tell what MB size the thing will come out while you're in process choosing the height and width? Is there a way to reduce the quality level (reducing the file size) independently of changing the height and width?

I'd still like to know about that ferry that comes into Sandusky. Where does it land in Canada, and how much is it?- 12 replies

Do I have a problem?????
pegscraper replied to Buzzard1's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
If you take off fast enough, that oil light will come on even if it's not low. Check the oil level in the sight glass and if it's where it ought to be, then don't worry about it. -
That's where having the arrows so I could make it wider just for myself would be nice, the way I can set the height of it. I don't know how to determine or describe my screen resolution width. I just know that there is a lot of unused space on either side of this text window. It's not really a problem. It's much nicer now than it has been. I appreciate your efforts.
-
I see. At first I thought that this would only be good for the one time and not hold all the time, but it appears that it does hold. Very nice. Thanks. I could wish that there were such arrows for the width too. But this is already much better.
-
Where do you find that? Thanks, Don. That width is a little nicer. I guess the length is okay.
-
Is there a way to default the text window wider or longer when starting or replying to posts or PM notes?

God looked around his Garden and found an empty place. He then looked down upon his earth and saw your loving face. He put his arms around you and lifted you to rest. His Garden must be beautiful, he always takes the best. He knew that you were suffering, he knew you were in pain. And knew that you would never get well on earth again. He saw your path was difficult, he closed your tired eyes, He whispered to you "Peace be Thine" and gave you wings to fly. When we saw you sleeping so calm and free of pain, We would not wish you back to earth to suffer once again. You've left us precious memories, your love will be our guide, You live on through your children, you're always by our side. It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone. For part of us went with you on the day God called you home.

That looks like something from the Little Rascals.

I see you live in Kincardine. We were right through there on our bike last May, as my mother lives in Owen Sound. We usually cross at Port Huron/Sarnia and head north on 21. Get up beside the lake up there, and there's about a 10* drop in temperature from whatever it is down here. We've learned to dress for that on the bike. Never noticed it in the car. Crossing via ferry at Sandusky sounds interesting. I didn't know there was one there. How much does that cost? Where is the other end of it in Canada? Coming into Sandusky, you ought to go to Cedar Point, but I'm not sure they'd be open yet. I don't know exactly when they open. There's not much for scenic rides in northern IN. It's pretty flat and boring here. There are a few interesting roads around, but they're few and far between. Southern IN would be more fun to ride, very hilly, but that's more out of your way. In Auburn, IN, there is the Auburn Cord Duesenberg museum http://acdmuseum.org/, and the NATMUS museum right behind it, which has more musclecars in it. The international Kruse classic car auction happens in Auburn every year over Memorial Day weekend. There is also a Corvette museum there. My wife's parents live in Auburn, so we're up there quite a bit. There used to be an Abe Lincoln museum here in Ft. Wayne, but that just recently closed, much to the chagrin of us locals. Much of the rest of the stuff around here, you about have to live here to have fun with it, like figuring out just where through town the Erie Canal ran. Riding the original Highway 30 might be fun. West of Ft. Wayne it ran a quite different route from what it is now. I have an old atlas from the '30s that shows it. Now, they are other two lane highways with different route names on them, and they meet up with today's 30 again somewhere just east of Chicago. Riding the old Lincoln Highway would also be fun, the States' first paved transcontinental highway. That runs through OH, IN, and IL, and more than that too. Google "Lincoln Highway" for tons of sites and information on that. I'd like to do that myself. One could spend a whole week seeing all the sites to see on that. If your travels take you near Ft. Wayne, which is not very far south of Auburn, you'd be welcome to drop by for a visit. I could show you the one or two scenic roads we have around here, where a section of the Erie Canal is outside of town, and a house that is a historical landmark known for being part of the underground railroad. There are a couple of old covered bridges in the area if you'd like to see those. (Pics in my gallery of them.)- 12 replies

So how long have you lived in OH? I always tell my customers that when the piano is in good tune, they might be more inspired to play. Nobody sounds good on an out of tune piano. I like the old Webers. IMHO they were better than the Steinways of the day. I have two Weber grand player pianos from the mid '20s. They're identical. Even the serial numbers are only 15 apart. I was rebuilding the first one for myself, and I was given the other one free for the taking about a month ago. The player mechanism in that one is gone though. I'll refinish it and sell it.
-
Yes Don, but is that grand piano TUNED, or do I need to bring along my tuning hammer? What kind of piano is it? How old? Who plays it at your house?
-
I see. I didn't know they were doing any more than the usual singing this year. I have picked up that there is a Hoosier there this year. But that's about it.

I got hooked on it for the first time last year when Sanjaya (sp?) basically wrecked the show. I'm not getting hooked on it again. I'm not sure how you made a connect from that to guitars, but... I fiddle around on a Washburn acoustic, but most of the electric guitar stuff I used to know (heavy metal) doesn't adapt very well to an acoustic, so I don't play it a lot. At this point I kinda wish I had a classical guitar. I had a Fender 12 string for a while, but the only thing I liked playing on it was the second part of Stairway to Heaven. I realized that 12 strings are more for basic rhythm chord strumming which was not my style of playing, so I let it go.

Boy, I sure do like seeing posts about mesh jackets instead of electric heated jackets. A good sign of what time of year it is.

I think I've posted this one on here before. Last summer, one cloudy, misty, very humid early morning, I pulled out onto a four lane highway from a smaller, lower speed road from my house. Oncoming traffic was a good ways away. I noticed that the next vehicle down was a garbage truck. It soon became apparent that at the highway speed, my helmet visor would not stay unfogged, and on the highway it won't stay up far enough to see under it. I couldn't see where I was going well enough. I pulled off at the next side road and removed the visor, put my helmet back on, and pulled back out. About four more miles or so up the road, I came across this garbage truck who had pulled over just past another side road. In the ditch was a crunched minivan. I'm supposing that the minivan driver did not pay attention to oncoming traffic and pulled out - in front of the garbage truck with which he lost. I'm guessing it was the truck driver standing on the side of the road. He appeared unhurt. But if I had still been in front of that garbage truck, I would have been the one who had lost. If the driver didn't see a garbage truck, he sure wouldn't have seen a bike. I got stung on my leg by a wasp or something on the road last fall. I never saw what it was. I was going about 30 or so at the moment. I hollered "ouch" and rode on home just fine, about 20 minutes. I've been stung before in my life and never had any more reaction than that. But this time turned out different. By the time I got home I noticed I had a headache. I took some aspirin. Only a few more minutes went by and my head was really pounding, my heart was throbbing, and my chest was getting really tight. Lori drove me in. Within an hour of getting hit I was in the ER where they pumped me full of steroids to calm down the reaction. The pleasant, cool, evening ride had turned into a long night. I don't know why my reaction was so different this time. Maybe because I hit him at speed and got 100% of his dosage rammed into me all at once. I don't know how I'll react the next time I get hit either. It could be bad. I'll have to take better precautions to keeping insects from getting inside my clothes.

The cruise control stuff is down in there somewhere too. Several people have thought about this, but no one has figured out where to put all the stuff. If you figure it out, I'm sure a lot of folks would like to know how to do it. Those vents would be a lot easier.
-
Doesn't work at all? Have you possibly changed the throttle cables for longer ones or something, where you had the junction box apart? If you don't get the pulleys back together just right in there, the cruise won't work at all. It's trying to work actually, but it can't engage the throttle cables.
