  1. That's what happens when you lock up the rear tire and slide sideways all the time. I have about 3000 miles on my Federal so far, and doing as good as ever.
  2. Those 32mm carbs aren't quite a bolt on, but they would fit with just a little bit of work.
  3. Works for me. Must be just your computer. It is dying. Aren't you one who can't see my sig pics when they show up for everyone else?
  4. Here is a thread with links to versions you can download. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1828
  5. He edited the first post also. Yes, now it shows up. New York city. I wasn't anywhere near that. It's almost double the distance that we are from Rochester. So what is a T Max?
  6. I'll eventually have an RSV. I'll get one of the last ones before EFI comes out while they can still be played with and hopped up. Once EFI comes out, there won't be any more fun. At my current rate, it would take me about 7 years to do 100,000 miles.
  7. Never bought a new bike, or car either. Probably never will. There are too many good used ones out there. Let someone else take the depreciation hit.
  8. Um, is there supposed to be a link here? I don't see anything. I was in New York just last weekend, near Rochester. Didn't get to ride the bike though.
  9. Evidently there were a lot of people saying the same thing. That's why they're not giving a choice anymore. At the price they were selling the thing for, even as an option, you know they're making a killing on it too.
  10. I have over 35,000 miles on my plugs and the bike runs fine. I've been thinking about changing them, but don't have a real reason for it. So I haven't been in a hurry about it.
  11. Knowing pitbull, he probably made them himself. I went and looked at his pics. Those almost look like old Honda Magna V65 mufflers.
  12. I had thought that restrictor in the line was to smooth out the vacuum pulses to the boost sensor, the same reason why they are needed when using a carb sync gauge. That doesn't make sense why gas mileage should change so much by taking the restrictor out. Did you try putting it back in to see if mileage goes back down?
  13. I've heard a number of people say that they get better mileage with a CT. I was hoping I'd see the same thing, but no luck. I still get exactly the same as I always did. Hey, that '97 Valk wouldn't be a red and white one, would it? That's my favorite color combination. (I wonder why.) Post some pics up. It's the only real rule we have around here.
  14. Where have you seen where someone said that there was no 2009 RSV? I haven't seen that anywhere. The talk has been about how there were no real changes.
  15. The RSV seat will mount on the RSTD with a couple L brackets to hold it down. A few here have done this. The RSTD handlebars are a bit wider. Other than that, they ought to be pretty much the same.
  16. I wouldn't be opposed to a belt drive. It loses less hp than a shaft drive. Shaft drive eats a lot of ponies. I have a couple other gripes about the Kaw that I'm considering whether or not to voice.
  17. Sounds like there's a market for someone to make brackets that put the floorboards actually lower. My wife would like some too. I'll eventually weld up some brackets one day.
  18. There is plenty of room in the headlight bucket for the relay, or in your case, the fairing. I wired it always on. I did also convert the engine cutoff switch to operate the lights instead of the engine.
  19. Try riding with the cap off and see what happens. Also realize that in the process of pulling the cap off and then restarting the engine, all of which involves movement of the key, you wiggled the ignition switch. These ignition switches are known for being flaky. Next time it happens, try to restart it without touching anything. If it won't start, try just wiggling the key a little. Don't even turn it off and back on, just wiggle it and see what happens. You should be able to nail it down pretty easily.
  20. My newest video game is a Super NES. I still get a lot of fun out of the old Atari 2600. Radio Shack's version of Pong that I have does feel a little antiquated though. I guess I grew up in a different day.
  21. It shouldn't be too tough to make some adapter plates out of 1/4" steel. Then you could bolt the floorboards up in about any position you wanted. I don't know what you're into for shift linkage and brake though, but I have to think that something could be fabbed up. I don't know what 1st gen shift linkage and rear brake linkage look like, but I could get you pictures of anything you wanted pertaining to those '99 floorboards.
  22. Sorry, I don't know what a PS 3 is. I still use a stereo that has vacuum tubes in it. For surround sound, I use the Hafler circuit. If you needed to know how to bias a 300B single ended amplifier or a set of KT88s, I could probably help with that.
  23. A dealer should be able to get these part numbers. Are you wanting to order them yourself? Highland's Yamaha has prices as good as anyone. Their site uses the same parts diagrams as Y's own website. You should be able to find the parts you need there.
  24. Actually, I do have to give these guys some amount of credit. They did not copy anybody in their styling. That bike is all their own. You either like it or not. I rather like the rear view of the model without the trunk. It looks something like the Corbin beetle bags they make for some models - another look which you either like or you don't. I still think the front view is a little funny looking. But when it is an air cooled motor, it needs a lot of air.
  25. Four quarts, really? And you don't have any trouble with oil in the air filter? I get a little over three quarts in mine, just into the bottom of the sight glass, and if I put any more than that in, it makes a mess in the air filter housing. I sure couldn't put four full quarts in. Where does four quarts hit the sight glass on your bike?
