  1. So what kinds of places would be more likely than others to have fresh tires? Is there any way to second guess that, or is this something that is totally random? I would have thought that Sears and Mallwart and such places would tend to have fresh tires. These places don't keep enough inventory around to have tires setting on the shelf for 4+ years. I gotta think that if they have tires that old, they were sent them by their distributor or even the manufacturer. I've ordered from SWMoto twice and gotten tires less than six months old both times. Was I just lucky? Is there anything else to do but look over the shop's shoulder to check date codes and refuse the tires if they're too old? Shops do so love having customers looking over their shoulder when they're working.
  2. I can't be the only one around here on dial up. Would you please just tell us what the information is.
  3. Wow. I wish I had known that last spring. I would have done it. I'll for sure remember it. That will be my modus operandi if I ever decide to sell anything on ebay again, as ebay is now forcing sellers to take preypal. It's a great little racket they have going for themselves. My heart really bleeds for all you who get peeved at sellers who don't take preypal. I'll guarantee you'd be peeved if you got screwed the way I did. They have great protection for buyers. But who is protecting the seller??? It is evident that nobody is going to protect me but me.
  4. So, you take your TD off roading, do you?
  5. Thanks for that link. Preypal does indeed suck. BB, I'm surprised that they didn't try to debit your bank account for the refund.
  6. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one aggravated at preypal. I got ripped off by them last spring too, and nearly closed my account over it. I've refused to receive any money through them ever since. They have great protection for buyers. Who is protecting the sellers??? I don't like their fees either. Too high. Now I see that ebay is forcing sellers to take preypal. So they have quite a nice little racket going for themselves. I've gotten rid of a lot of junk around here I didn't need through them, but still have some left. So I guess I can either bend over for a butt screwing or throw it in the trash. I haven't decided what I'm going to do yet.
  7. Do you have any incomplete sets? I only really need one individual boot, but two might be nice. It doesn't even matter which side they are. Do you have any cracked or junk ones? For what I want them for, I'm going to ruin them anyway. If you don't have any junk ones, or at least an oddball, I may keep looking. I don't need a complete set.
  8. Parts bikes? Are any other parts available? I'd like to find a couple 1st gen intake boots. Cracked or otherwise junk would be fine for me.
  9. Wow, that really looks nice. I wish I had the skills and patience for that.
  10. Now that has got to be the strangest contraption I have ever seen in my life.
  11. Oh, I have a couple more hot rodding ideas. I'm always trying to figure out how to get more power out of something. I can't help myself.
  12. Does anyone have some 1st gen rubber intake boots lying around that they don't need? Cracked or otherwise garbage would be fine, because for what I want them for, I'm going to ruin them anyway.
  13. Best to know how to hot wire your bike for when it does happen. You'll thank yourself for being prepared ahead of time.
  14. There are even more differences there than to the VMX engine. You'll still have ignition module problems, and wiring harness problems, among I don't know what else. You're already thinking of pulling the engine. Once the engine is out, it would really be easier to fix the transmission you have. You're only dealing with a couple gears. Much cheaper. Much easier. And the engine will fit right back in with no problems. If you want more power, swap some VMX cams in while the engine is out. Also, the V boost system is pretty easy to add to the 1st gen.
  15. I saw that earlier too, along with a bunch of other weird looking things. I closed and restarted the browser application and it all went back to normal. I don't know what happened.
  16. Lacquer always looked good because it had to be wet sanded and buffed out. Modern urethanes can be wet sanded and buffed out and can look just as good, but they don't have to be. So nobody does it. Catalyzed enamel was the same way. Frequently the surface will not be as shiny or will have orange peel to it. But when 99% of the population doesn't know the difference, why should they spend more money to make it better?
  17. What's going on with the signature pictures now? Mine and another one or two I've noticed now have a "click to view full picture" link or something on them. I had made mine the maximum height allowed. It was fine before. I don't think that was there even last night.
  18. I like #3. Motorcycling isn't dangerous. Crashing is what's dangerous.
  19. Doesn't bother me. I just knew that it was gone before.
  20. I see a post counter.
  21. I haven't tried them. But just an idea. K makes what they call a switchblade that has a heel rest that kicks out, or flips up if you don't want to use it. That way you get it both ways.
  22. What makes you think I'd try that? I'd be afraid to by now. I'm far enough along that I've lost the lack of fear that I had as a kid.
  23. It is set at 1280 x 1024. Never had any issues before this. It worked fine for both a mostly square flat screen and the laptop's own widescreen. Now there's a bunch of wasted space on the right side of the screen. It's pretty rare that a picture wider than the screen was ever put up. So now we have a narrow text space on everything 100% of the time to accommodate the rare odd time a large picture is posted. You've given us plenty of picture resizing methods in the past. Let people make the pictures smaller. It was fine the way it was, and I'd appreciate it if it were put back. I use a Mac with Safari.
