You might go to a hardware store and look for some plastic hole plugs. They come in various sizes, and usually in black.

Since we went to a laptop a while back instead of a desktop type computer, I find that the track pad is kind of a nuisance and find myself using more and more keyboard commands as I learn them. On a few other boards, I see the keyboard commands mentioned right beside the preview and submit buttons at the bottom. This is why I asked.

I've always been told that any grease will break down rubber parts because it is oil based. If you must use grease on a rubber part, use a synthetic grease.

Updating signal light lens

Here's another fun option. Mirrored turn signal lenses. From ebay, where else? -
Wow, that stinks. Wish I had fifteen grand. I don't. That stinks too.

I have too many interests to even remember. None of them get the attention I'd like to give them. Other things I'd like to do I simply don't have time for at all. • building vacuum tube audio equipment • restoring classic American cars - everything from metal and bodywork to painting to upholstery to mechanicals and minor machine work (I have a mill and a small lathe). Right now I'm in the middle of a '71 Mustang convertible, and have three other cars patiently waiting • modifying my cars and bikes for more power • house projects - our house was built in 1877, so there are always plenty of things to do • rebuilding pianos - I'm in the middle of refinishing TWO grand player pianos • playing piano and guitar • building model cars • bicycling - definitely don't do this one enough • rebuilding old pinball machines • tracing the history of our town. The Wabash Erie canal was started in Fort Wayne and ran through many other towns across the countryside. I enjoy riding the bike around and finding spots where remnants of it can still be seen. • other things I can't even think of right now Is it any wonder nothing gets done?

Really. The valve seat wear will outpace any wear on the shim or cam lobe? So when setting valve clearances, that means we ought to shoot for the wide side of the range rather than the small side. Correct?

I had to translate that into speak, where the bottom ones work but the top two don't. Oh well. Were these things listed anywhere?

Are there keyboard commands that can be used for previewing and submitting posts? I don't see any, but that doesn't mean they don't exist. Or if they don't, would that be too difficult to add?

I had a few responses to that also, but kept them to myself. Yours was better.

Sixty degrees here too. I got out today for the first time since New Year's Day and blew the dust and condensation off of it. Barely over a month, but it feels like it's been ten years. It was fantastic. Put about 40 miles on it. My handling skills have slipped a bit. Even the wife could tell I hadn't been on in a while. I saw a lot of other bikes out today.

Looks like it's time to dump Sirius stock.

It would about have to be. It also looks like it's time to update the colors list in the history section. I apparently hadn't seen the '09 color yet.

The text overs this board has are great. All boards should have such a thing.

Now that last one is fine! I wonder what a new VMX crate engine would cost. What year is this black and white RSV? Or is that another photoshop job?

I've had the Dunlop D404 WWs and was happy with them. Avon doesn't make a stock size front tire in a WW, but they do make the narrower 130 sized front tire in a WW. I currently run this tire and am happy with it. I have 20,000 miles on my current one. It needs changed. The only other option I know of for WW tires that fit this bike is Maxxis. I know one guy who runs these. He likes the ride and handling, but admits he doesn't get very many miles out of them.

I don't need anything done to my bike. However, I'd like to know if Don would like me to bring my tuning hammer for his piano.

I have no idea. Anyone?

Is this the valve shim pack that gets passed around when someone needs to adjust their valve clearances? I would like to get ahold of it, but I'm not in a great hurry at the moment.

Here's a picture of my old worn out Avon compared to the new Federal. Both tires are mounted and inflated. The Federal CT is a little more rounded than the old worn out Avon, but won't be as rounded as a new MT. I'm not going to know how the Federal compares to other CTs. This is the only one I've ever done.

Carbs leaking 96 RSTC

Seafoam didn't work, eh? Man, I just can't believe it. That stuff can fix anything. It always works. -
So whereabouts is New Burlington, OH? Lori and I are in NE IN. Have you thought about trying to attend Maintenance Day in Oberlin, OH? You might meet some of these biker babes there. As for riding tips, have you seen the Ride Like A Pro video? Lori and I make attempts at these riding exercises every spring. I can't say that either one of us is real great at them. But they will help you a lot.

Buckeye's HO stator for 2nd gens will crank out 55 amps, not 40. That's enough to operate heated gear for two plus anything else you want to run. No need to bother with LED lights. http://www.buckeyeperformance.com/p24.htm

Y'all are delusional. So the greenie weenies stepped in a put a rev limiter on them. That doesn't make them slower. Do away with that - level the playing field - and you guys don't have a tire to burn. And there's nothing that makes the Mk I any faster than anything else. Y'all are truly dreaming here. They have 100 fewer cubes, and the history section shows they have 7 - 8 less hp than anything else. Twenty five years from now there will be just as many 2nd gens around as there are of you now. Why wouldn't there be? It's the same engine. And mine doesn't even have 50 lbs of plastic to crack and break and fly off. Trash talking is all you guys have left, because the facts are against you.

Well heck, since you decided to let in a Royal Star... My "introduction" to this bike was a fully dressed '81 XS1100. I got it with a full fairing with a stereo, trunk, and side bags. I liked it a lot. Then there were a few years between that bike and my current one. The wife had suggested us getting a bike a few times, and I had pretty well put the motorcycle idea down. But then the price of gas began to change my mind. One of the biggest reasons I chose this bike over others was because it was not a V twin. I'm just not a V twin fan. Another reason was because of the color scheme. Most of the rest of the reasons I appreciate this bike came about after the purchase.
