  1. Wish we could have been there. Too much going on.
  2. I would do both sides. I say get all the stopping power you can. You never know when it might save your life.
  3. Shoot, I wanted to play, but if it can't be used on a Mac, it's worthless to me.
  4. I take it Chilhowee only ships UPS? That would make for an outrageous shipping charge. Would it be best to have someone as close to your side of the country as possible? I'm not anywhere near British Columbia. I'll do it if you don't find someone closer.
  5. I like this idea. I do not like this horn in the stock horn location where I currently have it. I have wanted where you put it for some time. I just have not put the time and effort into coming up with a bracket to put it there. I want to put one on the other side too. Much though everyone thinks this horn is so loud, I'm not that impressed with it. I've been in situations where it could barely be heard by even me. I could only hope someone else heard it too. I want louder ones, and more of them. I can't even imagine riding with only the stock horn. One might as well just squeeze a mouse.
  6. On the early Royal Stars, there is no room in the panel for this kind of thing, not even a single gauge. They or it would have to have their own complete enclosure. I am less familiar with the later RSTDs and how it might work there.
  7. Yes, the two muffler set up will bolt right onto the four muffler bikes. You will need to buy everything from the heads on back, including all mounting brackets and hardware. This can cause issue with your side bags if you have them. Or you could mount the RSV hard bags, as they would bolt right onto the new mounting brackets. All those parts will add up to quite a bit.
  8. Those are pretty cool. Yeah, if I had a Venture... Y'all still sorry you have a cassette deck now? If that weren't there, there would not be such a nice place to put these gauges.
  9. Where would one find such a bushing? Is that a common hardware store item?
  10. I cut the heel off of my shifter. It was just in the way. Also, Y makes a custom look toe shifter with no heel. Or, you might try a shift lever from an RSV. The heel piece is a little further back with more room for your foot. Mine is worn and sloppy too. Not much to do but replace all the parts. I keep it greased up. Maybe that will help it from wearing so fast. It also makes it shift much easier.
  11. Wow, sorry to hear that happen, especially to a red and white one. Does Y sell those bolts separately? I don't know. I had to replace mine once too and figured they'd want too much. I didn't even ask. I got a regular metric bolt of the right thread and drilled a hole through it. Some metal has to be carved out of the inside of the lamp housing to clear the bolt head. I don't know if you're handy with tools. If you are, it's easy.
  12. I would at least find a way to put a stronger spring in it, not just another stock one. Yes, sand the plates.
  13. Actually I'm getting more and more tempted to take the full disc back out and reinstall the half disc the way Y had it. I've had this kit in there for four months now and I cannot get used to the narrower friction zone. I just find it less controllable.
  14. Squid's right. They're exactly the same thing as the 2nd gen Venture, and I don't know that the 1st gens are all that different either. You shouldn't need to replace the whole clutch though. I would recommend an upgrade kit like the one from PCW. I did that one last Spring myself when my clutch started slipping under hard throttle. It had then about 55,000 miles on it. My clutch is fine. It just needed a fresh spring in it.
  15. Umm, this makes absolutely no sense. There is only one fuel line running into the carburetor pack, and it feeds all four carburetors. All four carbs are fed by the fuel pump.
  16. Wow Don, sorry to hear it. I've been wondering about this myself. Hang in there.
  17. Well, Foggy always used to tell the little chickenhawk that the dog was a chicken while he was just a tough old bird. The chickenhawk would go after the dog. When he got the dog, the dog would tell him that Foggy was the real chicken. The poor chickenhawk would run back and forth between the two not knowing which one to capture. So he captured them both. Another favorite episode.
  18. R1 front brakes. Love the stopping power they have.
  19. I've contemplated it, but haven't come up with any practical ideas. The best sounding idea I've had is to use the pieces and parts from an FJR somehow, which has an adjustable windshield. But that's all the farther I've gotten with it.
  20. Well, I wasn't referring to the ball joints under the floorboard, but they could probably use some grease as well. I am referring to the main pin on top of the floorboard where the shift lever pivots. If that one gets dry, it will shift really hard and missed gears will be common. I have to grease that joint up two or three times a year.
  21. You might try putting some grease where the shift lever mounts on the floorboard. I keep that joint greased on my bike, and I can tell when it starts to go dry. It makes a world of difference.
  22. Where is Spiceland?
  23. Federal is what I've been riding on for the past couple years. I had DBTires put white walls on mine.
  24. I'd paint the bags to match the bike. I like two tone color combinations, especially when one of them is white or ivory. But that's just me.
  25. Nothing like reuniting with an old love, and keeping the current one too. Nice looking bike. Can you give me any ideas about what was used for the studs on those saddlebags? Those were certainly added.
