Some mufflers will have the name stamped into the metal on the backside. You might look there and see. My Kromewerks turn outs are stamped on the back or I wouldn't know what they were. I have both the Kromewerks and the stock mufflers for my bike. The Kromewerks are moderately loud, but I have found that they don't affect my hearing any differently than the stock ones. It is the wind noise in the helmet that bothers my ears. I have to wear earplugs. As for your neighbors, just short shift until you get out of the neighborhood.

Working on a car today, and pullin the pipes of my 85
pegscraper replied to Chaharly's topic in Watering Hole
Bodywork is so fun. But it is nice to be able to do it. I'm currently working on restoring a '71 Mustang convertible in my unheated garage. It needs new floorpans, inner rockers, rear quarter skins and outer wheelhouses. Fun, fun. -
Those are discontinued? Why, Yamaha? They look great on the engine. I guess your only source now is ebay.

Yeah, but have you ever made your own anvil?

Wow, that picture sure made the rounds fast. I got it in an email four times yesterday and saw it on facebook too. Yes, it's funny. The gag would be better for Halloween.

I have a hanging style 60,000 BTU propane garage heater I'm working on installing in about a 23' x 23' garage. I picked it up at an auction a while back for $10. I expect it should heat the place up nicely. I have a lot of car and motorcycle work to do inside the garage this winter. In one house in which my brother previously lived, the previous owner to him had replaced the main furnace with a new one for whatever reason and had put the old one in the garage. Now that thing was fantastic. It would heat the garage up to 70º within minutes.

The 175 or 185 tires aren't available in a large enough diameter to be appropriate, not to mention that they'd be too wide to clear the swing arm by the driveshaft anyway. The 165/80R15 is really the only choice for this bike.

Wow. Sorry to hear it.

Problem pulling or holding clutch lever?
pegscraper replied to BigBoyinMS's topic in General Tech Talk
You just found us, eh? Welcome aboard, the both of you. -
Mostly it is that the 155 BFG is the first tire that people figured out would fit. It is a little smaller than the stock size MT which cuts ground clearance and throws the speedometer a little further off than it already is, so some of us kept looking. Shortly afterwards the 165 was discovered to be a better match to the size.

I saw a biker on the side of the road earlier this year with a broken drive belt, and heard about too many more. I won't have a bike with a drive belt.

Modern Day 1st Gen
pegscraper replied to Sheradan's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The 2nd gens are descendants of the '96 - '01 Royal Stars, which were Indian clones, not HD clones. -
That was my wife's first time around on a bike too, me pushing her around in parking lot. I had her get the feel of turning, using the brakes to stop and putting her feet down when she got stopped before we ever started the bike and let her go on her own. Then I started it and let her run around in first gear, and she did fine. She took the ABATE riding course a couple months later.

96 RSTC Suspension ?
pegscraper replied to WAC1972's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
There isn't much adjustment available in these. About all you can do with the front is change the oil. There are no air valves, although you could add them if you want. Just get the fork caps from a later bike that had them. Then you could put some air pressure in the front. The oil can't even be changed in the rear. No air there either. All you can do is set the maximum spring preload or buy a new shock. -
That's absolutely right. The best thing to do with credit cards is pay them off, get rid of them and close the accounts. Be a slave (indebted) to no one. Pay cash or do without. We don't use cards either.

Another person who got a flu shot gets the flu. Hmmm. A pattern here just maybe? Don't believe what the propaganda tells you. Observe what you see around you and think for yourself. My mother was a nurse and I never got a flu shot in my life.

Question
pegscraper replied to starkruzen's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Asking about RSTDs, there isn't a correct answer in here yet. The early Royal Stars run from '96 - '01, not '98 as someone mentioned. Then the RSTD was picked up again in '05. -
Khromewerks muffler baffles
pegscraper replied to foundryratjim's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Exactly which style of Kromewerks mufflers do you have? I've had the baffles out of my turn-outs, although it takes some pounding and persuading. Use wood blocks to keep from marking up the mufflers. -

Wrong. See his fourth picture above with bags installed. -
VMax engine setup?
pegscraper replied to Sideoftheroad's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
That mod has been proven to be a joke. It supposedly emulates the V-boost system on a VMX. But those V-boost passages on the VMX are 32mm in diameter. An 1/8" line won't flow enough fuel and air to do anything. All it does is make the engine idle rough. -
The cold doesn't end my riding season. If the roads and the skies are clear, I ride. I've left the house in 30º mornings here now. The rain and snow and salt on the roads end my season. And it's pouring down rain here today.

It sure couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. Enjoy the ride. (Not real sure I want to know what is going on in picture #8 though.)

Indeed, this is your real problem. The exhaust pipes won't fit at all. -
