Battery question
fixit3546 replied to fixit3546's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Probably just whatever my local dealer has, it needs some other work I'd like to get some of that done first. it may have to sit a while while i complete the rest. -
I need a new one for the 88, is there a difference in a 18LBS; 19LBS; 20LBS?? Some dealers tell me i need the 18LBS but i have found reference to the 19 & 20 LBS as well. I'm thinking the only difference is the CCA...........

I have my old 83 i want to do some "visual Mods" to.....probably along the line of Ventrous' bike. (she was my Faithful for so long, i want to make sure she continues to thrive) I have already outfitted it with an 86 rear sub-frame and luggage. think I'll lose the trunk and the lower faring.......can't decide if i want to paint it flat black or gloss black???.... Show me the "visual" mods you have done.

Can I just say something here...........The Mod that Randy taught me a couple of years ago for my 1st. Gen. MK1 transmission is still holding every time i get into second gear. And,.....I don't visit the site as often as i once did;but, I still do. But, I digress.....I read more than i comment because, sometimes it dosent consern me. sometimes it aint my bid'ness. sometimes i just dont know. sometimes i KNOW better. and, who knew this thing had these fancy numbers and bullets? i didn't till tonight and I been here for quite a while.

...Thanks for the replies. One thing; In one of our first meetings,we were told about the "teritorial" thing. The advice was, if you are asked to remove your colors, remove them. Good advice i think. I would rather have the opportunity to Minister than to get a bump on the head. have been told that we have a good reputation with most MC gangs but there is still the possibility of running into a rouge group.........There is also the possibility that I may run into a road sign; but i still ride....

I have a friend, Bro. Richard, A Baptist Minister and fellow CMA member who owns this Gold Wing. He has asked me a tech question and I don't knw but I assured him that I had other friends (namely youse guys) who might be able to help. He has added rear speakers with volume control and they work; but, now he has no intercom.........he can hear on the intercob but can not talk through it. Any ideas???

I know it has probably been visited before, but...Are there other CMA members here?

I did the Mepis thing a while back and just didn't understand some of the intricacies of it. I have Ubuntu now (not on this machine) and i love it. still learning though. I recommend it.

Just wanted to say THANKS!....I have just enjoyed another year here. Great folks like you have made the $12.00 that i just paid all the more Valuable. I haven't spent as much time here as i once did; but, every time i "open the front door" to this place I find you, and you treat me like a friend or family. Just wanted to say thanks for that.

Problem is, they do patrol. and i have complained.............not in writing. in the last 21 years of traveling the northern half of this road, i have seen one HP with an 18 wheeled vehicle on the side of the road.....really. I did get stopped a couple of years ago on that road. the Officer blocked both lanes of the road with his car and pointed me to the side of the road. and i did stop. Yep, i did get me a ticked, but i made him produce a ticket copy of one he wrote a log truck for speeding..........He was a nice guy. a couple of months later i met him at one of our county VFD meetings and asked if he remembered me...he actually did. he also told me i never had to worry about a ticket from him again.....like i said, Really nice guy. it is blatant however that they give these "commercial" vehicles a little leeway. even the DOT officers set up their portable inspection stations in a location that misses most of this kind of traffic.........

1983 venture xvz12 problems
fixit3546 replied to brant1's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Welcome aboard! I don't get on like I use to but i still frequent here...Why?? you might ask...Because these folks are truly just like family, I never had a question go unanswered or a need not met... I own an 83 that was in worse shape than the one you have. It has carried me to Minesota and back and back from San Diego after trailering it out there. The powerplant on the 83s are dumbed down V-Max engines (they all are i guess)(I think it is the strongest. I also have an 88 that is great but not like the 83) Dumbed down but not weak by any means.......just sayin'........ That said, Look into (search) batery/starter cables. you might look into a v-max starter at some point. Anyway; Happy trails... -
Never admit to anything, they tell me that marbles and rocks disintigrate into the surroundings. just don't get seen launching it......... If you want an exciting ride, you should come the Greeeaut Sta'ut O' Mis'sipi. (I like it here).......get on Hwy 3 between Yazoo Co. and Warren Co. on this road you can inspect, in great detail, all the crome (or rusted) grills in some of the most wore out log trucks in the entire South'n USofA........all from the comfort of your bike. they (the superb drivers of these beasts) will pull in so close that you can see only the grill with an occasional glimpse of bumper. and all this at about 80 MPH (if they can push you up that far) as they attempt to attain that one extra load of the day that will make their efforts worth while.........OH!...Then comes the harvest season.....nothing like farm trucks!!..
