Your right, 3 belts and pegscraper, I'm not sure because of a speedometer failure, but i'm guessing only 6-7k miles. The Maxxis classic is not the best tire for mileage(on mine anyway) But i have trouble finding the right size in a wide white wall that has a matching front and rear as far as the size. The 140/90/18 is $104.00 (locally)so i can afford it and not loose much in the long run.

Just wanted to throw this little bit of info in here for consideration. I use to work in a tire warehouse. we sold the Remington brand which is a Dunlop brand. One of my responsibilities was returning separated tires to the Manufacturer. It's been a while; but the majority of tires i sorted through had a tire plug in the middle of the separation. The Information from the manufacturer was that at times the plug would seal the tire keeping the tire from going flat; but, the plug didnt always seal the innerliner which takes the place of a tube in a tubeless tire. This caused air to invade the "bodt" of the tire and balloon up causing the separation. I saw this demonstrated in my observation. My opinion is to NEVER use a plug as a permanent repair in any tire. Have it removed and patched. If you have to use a plug to get you off of the side of the highway, Have it patched as soon a posible. My other opinion is that if "I" have to have one repaired, on the bike, for any reason, It is getting replaced ASAP.......... In that case, this plug kit may work well. What do you think Tartans Terror?

I'll see what i can do George. It is a Maxxis Classic. It is the only wide white wall i have found, so far, that has the right size front and rear. I'm sure they are out there;but i havent found them.

I knew that i needed a new back tire and it should have been here last week but somehow over night shipping turned into 5 days, enough about that. Like i said, i knew the tire was slick. I looked at it every day to make sure it was still just slick and not worse. The problem is that with the bumper and all the trim, it is difficult to see the tire without a close inspection. I could only see about 6 inches of the tread through this hole that is suppose to have a rubber insert in it. Everytime i looked at it, I saw a slick tire; but it still had rubber there. Well, I got my new tire in finally. Tuesday. When i looked at the tire I saw what you see in the picture. It is only half of the tire. the other half still has rubber and is what i was looking at. I had just ridden this home, about a 25 mile trip, Making about 70 MPH on Hwy 49. And it was hot...............All i can say is thank you Jesus!!! They say He watches over Old Folks and fools. I guess that means i got double protection. Now, go look at your back tire, and look at it good. BTW, The other picture is how i got the tire off. With all the dress items it is almost impossible to get the tire out from under the bike with it just on the center stand. This time i put the kick stand down on a 2x4 and set me floor jack under the pivot point of the center stand. This allowed me to raise and tilt the bike allowing easier removal of the tire. It worked almost flawlessly. The jack should have been placed further back though. It was almost at the balance point. When i put the tire back on, the bike almost tilted back and it tried to spin aroung at the same time.

I may have overlooked it; but this sounds to me like fuel delivery problem (fuel filter) Maybe carb floats set too low. -

keep it in a high gear and the speed 25-30. don't try to manhandle it. Stay off the gravel if you can. IMHO............. -

So I stepped outside at work today to have a smoke. I noticed fluid puddled around my front tire and automatically thought, Brake fluid. DANG!!! I stooped down and started looking; but coulden't see where it was coming from. It was on the wheel and both sides of the tire. I started to run my finger through it for a "texture feel" test. I have even been known to do a "taste" test. But, at the last second before touching the "fluid" Something in the back of my mind told me to stop. Then it came to me. One of our truck drivers had arrived a few minutes before, and Jake, his little male dog was running loose on the property. I checked the brake feel of the hand and the foot brake for confirmation and they worked well without any further "leakage". Sure am glad i didn't try that "taste" test ! !

You can just cycle the kill switch on and off, it has the same effect. I like the idea of a pre-check too..................... -

Will they shadow me now??? xxxxxxx@bellsouth.net> Add to Address Book Date: 2007/08/07 Tue PM 05:31:47 EDT To: CC: Add to Address Book Subject: Highway 3 Yazoo County My name is James Pettis and I have a question and a comment. I'm in Yazoo County, What district is this? Yesterday I got a speeding ticket issued by Officer Haymer, C-10 (I can't read the ticket well, this name could be wrong) for 70 in a 55. I have no problem with this tickt, he got me dead to rights. (I am curious why the two vejhicles behind me weren't stoped) I haven't had a ticket in a long time. and after thinking about it i realised that I have redeveloped some bad habits. I think in part because of this highway, Highway 3 . I travel this highway every morning going to work and every evening going home. In the mornings I have delapidated log trucks and chip trucks running 80-90 miles an hour trying to get in a certain number of loads for the day so they can make the check they need for the week. I know this because i have heard them talking on the CB radio about it. I know about their speed because I have checked them up to 90mph. I also have the added pleasure of passenger vehicles trying to get to work on time from Lousiana and from warren county. This is every morning. In the evenings, I have the same compliment of traffic but now they are running behind so i guess they have to push it a little harder so I get tailgaited pretty bad. Did i mention i ride a motorcycle. Not a crotch rocket; but a 1983 Yamaha XVZ1200. This is a Touring bike, not a speed bike. Tailgaiting and motorcycles DO NOT MIX!! I am sick of the dangerous position i and my family am being put in and the fact that every time i ask i am told that we are working on it or we are understaffed. Personally i think that we just dont want to ride up and down a road with nothing on it. On an a good note, Officer Haymer did tell me he was tired of giving breakes to Yazoo county and he would start wrighting 100 tickets a week. Is that a lot? He did show me two tickets that he wrote to truck drivers; but this afternoon. I got tailgaited again. I let him push me up to 60 before he finally had a place to pass. this was a grain truck going back after another load of corn. He turned off at Satartia. No tag on the trailer. I have been working this Job in Yazoo city for 17 years and things are getting worse. They know that if the HP runs the road they will only be here for a day or two and wont be seen again for several months. I think the road needs to be monitored by the highway patrol, not to wright tickets; but to see what i'm talking about. Put a couple of cruisers and motorcycles on the road. Unmarked so they can see the truth of the matter. That's my challenge to the MHP. Come see what i'm talking about then do something about it. I'll bet many of these trucks could be put off of this road just on equipment violations alone. Plaese pass this e-mail on to the appropriate department. And I would like to hear back from someone. Oh, By the way. let me just say again. I got my ticket fair and square. The Officer did his job. I'm not asking for a break and i'm not asking for his resignation or anything like that. Thanks for your time James Pettis

kc5muv here I've used a 2m/70cm handy on mine. had a dual band antenna in place of the am/fm ant. it worked pretty good but i didnt try it with a head phone. Others here run them. maybe someone else will chime in. -
Well i got the paint almost finished up and it was lookin fair. Got down to clear coeting (second coat) the last part and i knocked off my front fender into the grass, (no paint booth) turned around to see what happened and knocked off the headlight ring and the false tank cover..............I'll stop right there. the rest of the story is'nt good for mixed company. I'll have to fix the clear coat later, now i have a new problem...... Got all the parts back on and it looks better even though it is ****** up. So i started checkin to see why it wasnt idling right and i found that the #2 cylinder carb boot is busted. now i gotta have one. Anybody have a spare? It is the left front cylinder. looks like oil has dripped out of the filter housing and onto the rubber boot. i'm pretty sure this is what caused it th bust open.,, !!!

dO YOU CHECK THOSE PHASE TO PHASE OR PHASE TO GROUND ? (DANG caps lock) I've been wondering about that. It sounds like the stator may be the problem, it's not making enough voltage to convert to a dc level for batery charging. That's where I would start. I think i have heard on here before that the stator could cause the rectifier/regulator to go bad if it is bad,but i dont know if that would be the case here.........................
