    Ok, so here it is as it was given to me. The clutch operstes by binding those little rollers against a "ring". All surfaces are smooth and very hard. As long as they (all components) stay this way they work very well; but, if they begin to wear or are allowed to skip a lot due to a bad battery or whatever else might cause it to skip. They begin to get minor imperfections on the surfaces. enough of these minor imperfectons and the rollers begin to jump over the ridges and cause the clutch to slip. The imperfectione can be nearly impossible to detect but a close inspection will reveal them. Again, they are going to be very minor. I went through this same trouble a while back, the start of mine i think was due to having a hard start problem and leting it skip trying to start it after the battery got weak.

    I don't wan't to short any of my children. They all make me a proud father. But two of the have put it all on the line, so to speak. Most of you know about Jake and his joining the Marines. (By the way, he left florida tonight headed out to New River S.C to continue his training in his MOS) My Oldest boy has joined the Mississippi Army National Guard (full time) and will be going to boot camp at Fort Jackson S.C. 2/12/08

    I couldn't agree more. Don and the "Support Staff" at Venturerider.org are truly second to none. Outstanding job fellas and gals..........You deserve so much more than i can give.     yEP, I TOO BELONG TO THAT CLUB (DAMN CAPS LOCK) and the "why did it die riding down the road at night" club. I did find it before i had to stop though. The worst one is when i was a youth, my bike quit and i pushed it about a mile home, then proceded to pull the motor down cause i just knew that timing chain had jumped again. Turns out that the gas tank was empty. Live and learn.

    I guess they will be baned in California soon. I'm no scientist; but i find this to intresting, possible and probably a little absurd. I remember years ago when i was a pumper in the oil field. A gov. reg. required that we remove all the pipe in the field that was being used as flow lines through the field and store it in a cyclone fenced area. Highly secure right?......... The thing was that this pipe had at one time all been used downhole and exhibited high levels of radation. (higher than background radiation levels) that couldnt be allowed, someone might get exposed. Well here are my thoughts on their protection of the masses. There were no masses in the swamp of the Big Black River. Just a few of us workers and the occasional deer hunter. The pipe was spread out and not in normal trafic areas. now it sits piled high (concentrated) inside this "super secure" cyclone fence. and it sits next to a cotton field so now we have the farm workers exposed as well. The engineer who headed this project up admitted to me one day that the exposure to radiation amounted to about the same exposure that one would encounter wearing a digital watch. In another instance. the EPA sent out a request for hazardous materials exposures. they wanted us to pick from a list that they provided, any hazardous material that ever had, was or that might ever be on a location. Pecan shells was on the list. good thing we didn't have any pecan trees......................

    Everyone i have talked to says it is junk, so i stay away.............One of my coworkers found someone that told him that the antivirus that came with the machine was not up to the task and to shut it down. I know it can't be that simple; but it worked for him. at least he could use his mp3 player now, I'll be sticking W/ XP pro.

    With a new post questioning second gear repair. I got to wondering how the others came out. i know there have been a couple of people asking about it. and one did a third gear repair. How did y'all come out? did everything turn out well, have you done it yet?? Mine is still holding well. I had to change my speedo out so i'm no sure of my mileage; but i'm thinking around 6,000 - 7,000 so far. And still going strong. Thanks again RandyA !!!

    I'm not speaking as the authority here because i'm not 10% positive; but i think either tranny could be repaired with little trouble. replace the washers and grind thr dogs on the gear set back out and your in business. I have done this as well as have some others on this site. RandyA is the man on this fix though. He has several thousand dmiles on his and i have a couple thousadn miles on mine. I'm satisfied and would head out anywhere and never give the tranny a second thought. A search for trasmission repair here will reveal lots of info. I think also a couple of links should appar at the bottom of this page. Be sure to check the shift dogs and the shift drum "pin retainer" I'm not sure what the true name of this retainer is but it holds the shift pins in the end of the shift drum. they have been known to be the source of a problem causing the tranny to get stuck in gear. Good luck. it's not too dificult and well worth it to fix the tranny.
