Sweet Avon Cobra's On My '88 Venture Royale!
Sailor replied to Chaplain Dusty's topic in Watering Hole
I hate riding in hailstorms, especially with my open face helmet. I love the Avon Cobras. It feels like the bike looses a couple hundred pounds with them on. Glad you came through ok. -
Inovative police crackdown on texting and driving
Sailor replied to Beau-Kat's topic in Watering Hole
They were out here yesterday using spotter scopes to nail distracted and unbelted drivers. I had to laugh as I went by and saw they had a guy on a medical scooter pulled over. I once got a ticket for being 1 mph over the limit. -
It gets worse. Windows 10 came with my computer and it is taking a bit of learning but now there is something called contacts preview which seems to have eliminated nearly all my contacts. When I go on line they announce they are having problems with it and tell you how to get out of it. The problem is the tab they tell you to click on does not exist so you are stuck.

I was in my car passing another car when their tire blew. Chunks of rubber hit my car and a big cloud of dust flew up. Went home and changed underwear.

Smokin' Harleys is very addictive. Try not to over do it.

You won more than I ever do. What's your secret?

I am due to get my left knee done this fall. The Dr. said he would do the right one about 6 months later. I told him I would not spend another summer on crutches so we might push it back to fall. Everyone I know that has had knee or hip replacements done says they wish they had done it sooner.

That is great. I went to the specialist yesterday and he set me up to have both knees done. First one will be in about 6 months and the other about 6 months later.

When I was able to play golf I just did it for fun. There was a nice 9 hole par 3 course nearby. I got a small, flexible bag that held 4 clubs. I would take a 3 iron, 9 iron and putter, sling the bag across my back and take off on the Venture,

I think I was four when I got my first trike. I am 72 now and thinking of getting my second one.

A friend bought a condo in Victoria. The woman he bought it from had been there for 20 years and had never turned on the stove. He asked if I wanted it. I went to get it. When I pulled it out from the wall I found just bare wires twisted together. No box, no murettes. Just bare wires stuffed into the wood framing. If she had turned it on she would have started a fire.

I like to tip with cash. I figure that way the waiter gets most of it. I hate places that have the 20% tip. I figure the waiter has to share that with the owner. I also hate not having the option. Some places automatically add it in the bill.

Girlfriend posted it, girlfriend wants it gone now! Lowball the offer and she will take it.

I hate winding up with a pocket full of change. If you really want to confuse these people the next time you buy something that costs something like $ 2.50 give them $ 3.50 and watch them struggle to figure out how much change to give you.

Over the years I have traveled a lot through England and Scotland. Except for tourist venues there is no tipping, in fact a tip is considered an insult. It all depends on what your expectations are. If you expect a tip and don't get it you are pissed off. If you don't expect a tip then when you don't get one you don't care. It is a matter of local customs.

I thought I was right once but I was wrong.

Congratulations times 10! Janet dropped the info that we have been married 23 years. I thought it was 10. Thought I had been retired for 10, turns out it is 14. Time flies, or as the frog said....time's fun when you're having flies.

Check your wife's purse, I think she has something of yours in there.

So, aren't we trying to discourage texting and driving?
Sailor replied to SilvrT's topic in Watering Hole
When I go for a ride I go to enjoy the ride, everything else can wait. As I said I don't have any of those electronic gizmos so people can keep track of me and grab me whenever they feel like it. I just have the answering machine and people seem to like the message I put on it. " You have reached the number you have dialed. If you are begging, borrowing or selling please hang up now, otherwise leave a message, I might even get back to you." My time belongs to me and no one else, except for She Who Must Be Obeyed. -
Warning to those in NC or those thinking of visiting NC.....

To me the radar traps are a waste of time and just a cash grab. Around here we know that when it is election time the radar starts working overtime, they want to fill the coffers. Around here the radar is only out on nice days and on straight stretches of road, in other words under the safest driving conditions. It is often at the bottom of hills where even coasting you wind up exceeding an arbitrary speed limit. I once read a study where they removed the speed limit from a stretch of road. Everyone sped up and accidents went down. This was because the majority were driving in their comfort zone and were all driving the same speed, fast enough to keep attentive and slow enough to be safe. It is cars going either much faster or much slower than the majority that cause the problems and you don't need radar to catch them. I think the money and effort would be better spent on traffic cameras at intersections. That is where the majority of accident happen and the majority of disputes over what happened. When the speed limit is too slow I find myself getting bored and paying less attention. That is more dangerous than being a little over the limit and paying attention. This is of course just my opinion. -

I don't even have a cell phone or any of those other gizmos. I have an answering machine and that is it. -
We saw $ 4.00/gal here but only for three or four days. going back up now. It is painful to remember the days when $ 5.00 got you a full tank.

Had the maple pork sausage. Also maple/pork/apple. Also had home made elk, moose, venison, and bear. All delicious.

I see you have gone to the dark side with the car tires. Out here the weather man has the easiest job in the world. 6 months ( it only seems like 8 ) of "rain today, rain tomorrow" followed by 6 months ( it only seems like 4) of " sun today, sun tomorrow".
