I see there are several brands of Speed Bleeders out there. Is there one brand that is recommended over all the others or are they pretty much the same. Thanks

I second that. I use mine all the time. Get the one with legs.

What brand are those. They look great.

When I hooked up my wife Gerbing jacket an gloves last year that combination required a 10 amp fuse, if that helps.

Changing Oil, # Of Qrts.
uechi kid replied to uechi kid's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I always change the filter when I do an oil change. I have two concerns here. 1. using the sight glass as the gauge and only adding a touch over 3 quarts, is there less that sufficient oil in the engine. 2. if number one is OK, I'm leaving .7 quarts of old oil in the engine every time I change the oil. That can't be good. -
My last two oil changes I noticed that when I use the sight glass as a gauge for how much oil I've added, I can only get three quarts in and it's up to to the Maximum line. And yes, I've checked the level of the garage floor and I'm using a Carbon One Lift adapter. So the question is, is this normal? Is the a second drain plug I didn't read about? Have I been running my bike low on oil all summer? Thanks

No one? Just need to double check which EBC brake pads to order. FA 179 for the front? FA 123 for the rear?

How about which number. I've seen both the FA 123 listed for front and rear and also have seen the FA 179 for the front. Which ones are correct? Thanks.

I've also been looking for a tire changer. I'm sick of replacing perfectly good tires because of a nail. I'd definitely buy the one by Harbor Freight if I could find one. I really like the Cycle Hill unit but I don't want to drop 5 bills. A power unit would be great if you have the floor space, I don't.

I haven't made up my mind, that's why I started this post. The above response was simply the way it seems to me. I've been known to be wrong before, believe me. Thanks for the input.

From what I've read about multi-viscosity oils, the light weight viscosity is for cold weather starting and running in cold weather. As the engine warms up or the weather warms up the viscosity changes (gets thicker). It seem to me that if I'm using an oil that's 5W-40, and it's 80 degrees out, that oil is thicker than 5W. And as the engine gets warm, regardless of the ambient temperature, the oil will reach the 40 viscosity.

I want to make a switch to Rotella T6 but I can only find it in 5W-40. The owners manual says 10W-xx is the minimum for the lower viscosity. Is 5W-40 OK?

As far as I can tell, they don't make that arm rest for the Venture.

I ride with a gal that rides a Star 950. The whine that comes from her bike when she takes off from a start would make me go buy a different bike. My wife's Star 650 has a similar whine but .of as loud. I think It's a Yamaha thing.

Man, I was drooling through that entire video. I have a garage fetish. I have your typical track home two car garage that just doesn't have enough room. Not because I'm a pack rat, but because I have too many toys and hobbies. With three bikes two cars a truck a love for brewing my own beer and working with wood, I don't have enough space. If I had a garage like one of those, I'd never be home .

The Venture is a great bike. I have never had any regrets buying one. In fact, if anything were to ever happen to this one (God forbid) I'd get another one.

You gotta be kidding me. I just bought some Preston to change my coolant with and now I need to worry about if it's the right stuff? Ya know, doing your own maintenance is a real pain in the a$$.

Rode from Antioch to Roseburg Or 550 mile in about eleven hours, spent the night and rode home on the coast. That took about twelve hours. All together about 1100 miles.

I started riding here in Ca before the helmet law. I tried not wearing one and wearing a half helmet but I just didn't like them. So I started wearing a FF helmet and have always done so. 21 years.
