  1. I'm not a sailer but I've had my share of BASS boats - btw - I live about 20 minutes from Atwood Lake and we had the same Venture until last week Dick OK - same bike, 2007 Midnight Venture but slightly altered
  2. thank you
  3. The pin striping was done freehand by Jaybird, a local artisian - he's been doing pin striping for at least 30 years.
  4. REMOVE the battery - let the unit sit idle for a couple minutes then install the battery. That has happened to my Zumo 550 several times
  5. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?threadid=36111:thumbsup:
  6. OK - I was doing everything right except that I was doing it wrong. I didn't hold the arrow keys long enough and quite frankly I was getting tired of pi$$ing with it. One GOOD thing did come out of today, the XM radio worked great on our first 2 up trip of the year. It was only for lunch in a little town named Bergholz Ohio then a county road down to the Ohio river. Round trip was only 80 miles but in that time we only encountered 6 or 8 cars and a dozen bikes. Thanks guys for the help - I was told that I should never take a coffee break when I was working 'cause they would have to re-train me. Thanks !!
  7. CORRECT - it's called a splash screen Cougar - THANKS - I did that once before, unfortunately for me it was last summer and I couldn't figure it out. Had I scrolled down on the zumo I would have found the right icon. I was trying to do it while hooked to the computer (again):bang head: Next stupid question - how do I set the FM stations ( not channel) on my handle bar unit ?
  8. DAMN that really suks - good thing you're not hurt any worse
  9. How do I change the 'desk top' (face) on my zumo 550 ?? I loaded pics to the zumo but can't find a way to change the 'desk top':bang head:
  10. Hopefully this will work, it's a known fact that I'm lucky to get the computer turned on let alone get anything accomplished on it. I guess I should have noted that it's a 2007 Midnight Venture that I altered somewhat.
  11. Thanks Halfwit
  12. I never thought about synthetic in my truck or my wife's car. I always have them changed at our local garage/repair shop and not even sure what oil he uses. Neither one uses oil between changes so I always just figured all is OK.
  13. Bigfoot - I won't have that problem, since I've lost most of the hair on TOP of my head I only measure 5' 9" I really miss that extra 2 inches or so
  14. I bought my 2007 Venture used and the previous owner said that he had been using Amsoil. My question is - How many miles is the norm when using synthetic oil ? I understand with everything else I own that oil should be changed every 3000 miles ( give or take a few miles). It doesn't make sense to me to use synthetic and still change it as often or am I not getting the full picture ?? BTW - I bought my Venture about a year ago and am just now approaching 3500 miles and need to know if I need to change it before MD. Thanks
  15. Thanks Don, If it doesn't start raining I'll get a few pics when the sun comes out and give it a try.
  16. I apologize if I sound like a smart a$$ but what's an IT ?? My computer knowledge is basically turn it on, check mail, surf and turn it off.
  17. Don - my knee is not completely healed but last evening I took my wife for a short ride for ice cream. No problems riding so I'd like to change my RSVP to a definite. So keep an eye out for a 2007 Midnight Venture that's two toned with a light green and pin stripes by Jaybird - that'll be ME. Really looking forward to meeting some of the members. btw - how do I upload a picture file to show off my 'NEW" bike ??
  18. I ordered one last evening - it won't ship until June 8th but that's not too long to wait. I was please to see that they offered the pillow style to match the seat. The only info for mounting was that there was no cutting necessary, is it really that easy to install ?
  19. That could well be - with the therapy on my knee :bang head: 3 days a week, I feel like in in my twilight
  20. The other color is a DuPont SpectraMaster YM516 - If anybody happens to have a color chart laying you will see that it's a pale green metalic. Hard to explain the color so I'll just have to go to MD on June 6th. Jaybird did some pin stripping on the black with silver as the main color and then topped it with a DARK green. On the green he did a black stripping, none of it was ( I hope) overdone but enough to show that he was there and that no tape was used. I have no Idea how to put pictures on here so any help in that area would be appreciated.
  21. That's alright - I don't care about going fast anymore, I just wanna go
  22. feel better ?? actually I was starting to feel like I did lose some memory data. The first thing I do is check the classifieds to see if anything new has been listed. It seems that I'm always a day late on something I could use. It wasn't there this AM and I knew it had to be there somewhere
  23. A couple weeks ago I decided that I wanted a two tone Venture so I took everything off except the rear fender and left all of it at my local auto body shop (same place that did $10,000 repair to my Z71 when I met that deer in Pa ) Yesterday They called and said the parts were ready to be pin sripped and that Jaybird was waiting for me to decide the color. I met him there and we decided that a silver would be best. I left him to do his magic and was told that I should be able to pick everything up today. Now the question is, now that it's a two tone bike, is it still a MIDNIGHT Venture or is it a 10:30 Venture. Can't be midnight - it's not all black anymore. I don't have any pics yet but as soon as I get it back together I'll try to figure out how to post some pics.
  24. FREEBIRD - it's not problem, I just thought for sure I had left part or most of my memory somewhere and I really do need some of it - some of the time :rotfl:
  25. wrong again - :think::think:
