  1. Then with regard to more lighting, I'm pretty much dead in the water ?
  2. Does anybody have a 'peak' amperage usage on a stock (factory) Venture (2007) I'm not at all familiar with the stator type generating system I've installed driving lights and would like to start stratigically placing some LED's. I realize most led have a milliamp draw but am concerned with light usage already on the bike.
  3. Tee Hee Tee Hee I only say that because I've been "there" many times Have a GREAT day
  4. Silly me - is your control set to speakers or head set ??
  5. Got it here http://www.casporttouring.com/optimizer/product/23500.html $23 + for 2 tubes Don - the nearest Honda auto dealer is about 45 minutes away. Thanks guys
  6. Where can I buy it - my local honda shop is out
  7. If the whine persists, I'll live with it - I like the bike too much to change brands. I've had 7 GoldWings and this Venture is more to my liking.
  8. It should be a crush washer My terminology lacks somewhat when it come to motorcycles. In thinking about it, I guess it was more a washer than a "gasket". I didn't see any leaks there or at the filter so hopefully I'm OK till I change out again.
  9. Well, I changed the oil yesterday - put "Mobil 1 Racing 4T - 10W40" in my '07' Venture. It didn't seem to quiet the whine at all. Please tell me I used the right oil Hate to spend another $50 and doit again tomorrow. BUT I will if I screwed up and put the wrong oil in. Should I have changed the gasket on the drain plug also ??
  10. Do you have the driving light bar ? with turns under each one ? There's got to be a fuse in line somewhere. Start at the battery and work your way toward the lights. If there's not and extra wire coming off the battery, see if there is an aux fuse block
  11. Welcome to the site - Questions ?? They'll be answered here for sure. btw - good choice for your ride
  12. six thousand - that's 5 times the population of the town I live in ! WOW
  13. Nice pics - one heck of a lot of bikes - how many attends that function ?
  14. I saw that thread about the extension block but being the cheapskate that I am, I opted to just loosen the mounting bolts a little bit and the fairing comes right off. I know because I did it twice ( maybe 3 times) while I was in the learning process of mounting the driving lights.
  15. I found on ebay a set of Yamaha lights, bought them and installed them w/o doing my homework. First - didn't know I should leave the switch in line Second - didn't know I should have put a relay in line Third - and most importantly, I didn't know what the hell I was doing Now, 3 days later, they are switched, they are fed with a 30 amp lighting relay and most importantly the GREEN wire going to the turn signals IS NOT a system GROUND. All it does is make the driving lights and turn signal alternate flashing. That may not be a bad thing but I opted to fix it. After having the front off the bike 3 times in as many days, I'm afriad to walk by with an allen wrench in my for fear one of the front pieces will just automatically fall off. All in all it was a VERY learning experience - Thank you guys for the help and instruction :clap2:
  16. and I nominate the letter writer for poster child for mandatory birth control --
  17. Are you using Mobile 1 15w -40 ?
  18. I'm getting pretty tired of hearing about how great mj was - The one thing I'll give him is that he was a musical genius, that cannot be disputed but he's gone - let it go. Tell me about our troops, our mis-spent money on third world countries, tell me more about the gov owning 60 % of GM - think things were screwed up before ? What about our local heros that are in tune and helping the downtrodden in you community ? Did they all of a sudden disappear ? Ok - I'm done - I'm gonna go shine the bike
  19. It appears that the whine in my '07' Venture occurs at 53 mph and continues up to about 60. Unfortunately that's my usual driving speed. I guess I'll complain to my local dealer and see if they'll replace the clutch basket.
  20. When I put the relay in mine, I powered the relay (with a fuse) off the aux power (Cigarette Lighter) and grounded the switch to the system ground. Everything was soldered & taped with the exception of the blade connectors on the relay. For a nicer job, some shrink tubing would have been nice.
  21. I took it all apart today and put a 12v relay in and left the switch in the system. All I need to do now is put it on the lift adapter and get the lights adjusted right. Thanks for all the help - and thanks Freebird for posting the link for the wiring diagram for the relay.
  22. I just had to brag about an EBAY seller - Alecks Power Sports Of Erie - They had a set of genuine Yamaha Driving Lights listed with a BIN of $219. + shipping. I bought the set and paid for them on Monday afternoon and by Tuesday afternoon the package was sitting on my porch. Tuesday evening I had them mounted and today I took the fairing back off and installed a 12v relay and a switch. If anybody is looking for driving lights, you might want to give Alecks Power Sports a call @ 814-833-4948. My hat's off to their pricing and their FAST shipping BTW - included in the kit was a set of spacers that allows the lights to be loosened enough to get the fairing off without taking the lights all the way off.
  23. I just completed the PROJECT - Yamaha put spacers in the kit so I think I can get the outer fairing off when I need to. I went ahead and wired into the lighting circuit, left the switch in line and on but didn't mount it. It's wire tied in the fairing. I believe I'll get a relay and put it in - it makes a lot of sense but I want the lights to burn constant. Thanks for the help & info
  24. I found a set of driving lights for my Venture on EBAY - Alecks Power Sports in Erie Pa. In the ORIGINAL Yamaha kit is a push button switch. Does anybody use this switch or should I just cut it out and let them come on with the ignition switch ?? Any downside to doing it that way ?? Also - the instructions say something about an aux DC terminal on the left side of the fairing - can't find it ??>::
  25. Tell me more about the "COBRA" radial. I'm putting a Komho on my '07' next week and I'm sure I would feel better with a radial on the front.
