actually - my engine noise comes in at easy cruising, when there's no labor or torque against the motor. anyway, it seems to noisiest then. When I labor the motor up a hill, the road king muffs and the radio drown out any motor noise.

I ended up with Road Kings with the 'freeze plug" knocked out. Nice deep throaty sound.

Well, I changed the oil - put Mobil 1 10w40 in and it didn't seem to change the whine. On Monday I went to our local Yamashop and spoke with the lead mechanic. After a short talk he said he would need to ride it to determine if the clutch basket change would possibly make a difference. The key was in it so off he went. About 15 minutes later he was back and said he would change the basket if that's what I wanted " BUT " he also said that I have one of the quieter Ventures. Now I realize that the shop is busy right now and perhaps didn't want any additional work but looking at it from a business sense, one would think they would schedule it to be done anyway because it's basically FREE money for them. What he did suggest is that the next time I change oil that I consider using 20 w 50 oil. That 'might' help somewhat he said but there are no guarantees. So yesterday I found that with a helmet on, the XM radio up to 14 - 16 and enjoying the scenery, I really didn't even notice a whine.

would if I had one !!

yep - I forgot about the intercom, that'll do it

This September will make me the happy owner of my FIRST Venture and it's been a learning experience from day one. Am/FM/CB/ Zumo 550/ XM radio/ radar detector/ is there anything else that can be added. I could stand a little more confusion Yep - forgot about the intercom - that should do it

Thanks - got it I tried to adjust that darn thing while riding - that falls under the stupid category, especially when you (me) don't know what you're doing. I'm a MAC fan but I partitioned my laptop and put XP pro on it. The best of both worlds, mac ease and Windows versatility:thumbsup: -

Oh man alive - you shouldn't have said that where I could see/hear it. it seems I'm always in one jam or another. -
Hey Lieutenant - I knew you could do it. I told you that If I could, just about anybody could install them. looks like you did a fine job - and You're Welcome.

You got mail - -
I have acquired a huge amount of 14 gauge thhn wire and rather than scrap it out, if anybody is going to do some lighting or whatever on their bike I'd be happy to mail 15 or 20 foot lengths of it just for the cost of the envelope and postage. btw - what I have now is black, I just got rid of 30 lbs of red. It's all used wire but the insulation is intact

If he doesn't exceed the width limit ( 8' 6" ) and has it secure he's as legal as anybody. Just not as smart as most

did you check the voltage in the battery ? I would think it should have 12.6 and above if just coming off a tender. -
Hi Rick - we talked about this just prior to your trip. I want to send the passenger seat off my 2007 Venture. At this point I don't have a problem with mine but yesterday with shock air adjustment (on the road) my wife said it was much better. She has a harder time with bumps in the road than with seat time. Will your alteration alleviate some of her problem ??

My plan is to add 2 amber led's on the front guard and 2 red led's on the reat guard. My intent is to replace the reflectors that are there now. The question is - Can I safely connect the led's to the existing light relay that I installed for my passing/driving lights so that they will be energized with the ign. switch ?? btw - it's a 30 amp light relay and it's powered from the aux/cigarette lighter and it is fused.

I get a kick out of watching (some) women trying to drive and keep the phone to her ear with her shoulder. Just goes to show that (some) women can multi-task -
Pretty much my thought's on to Whenever a celebrity gets nailed it's big news - if my uncle got run over by a herd of stampeding giant chickens and got killed it would never make the local paper let alone national news.

This should be really interesting - Watching golf on the telly and heard that Steve McNair was found SHOT dead. gunfight ? - guns in a club ? I'm going to go out on a limb and say that there's more to this than the media is going to print

If you hold it up to the light and angle it somewhat you can see a couple minor scratches but there is nothing that resembles a hinderance to good vision thru it. It was on the bike when I bought it but I didn't like how short it was. I prefer the taller WS bottom line - I'm not ashamed of it
