  1. Did the alcohol HELP or HURT ?? http://www.timesreporter.com/news/x1678042244/Jump-may-have-saved-motorcyclist?popular=true
  2. Too bad the HD Road King muffs won't fit ??
  3. I just came back from a nice ride South on State Route 43 in Ohio. We went from Malvern thru Carrollton and down to Amsterdam. There are some really nice twisties in the 47 mile round trip and all were equipped with tar snakes. I happy to report that conditions were such that the snakes were of no consequence to affect riding at all. The temperature was 75 plus and the snakes were all older ( as in not recent) but I couldn't feel them at all. I starting to REALLY like my KUMHO !!

  5. I know exactly how you feel - I had 1 bank of led's not working on my license plate holder. It's such a pain, install the adapter, lift it up, 4 nut's and bolts, 12 wires and jumble of wire in the cavity. I ended up taking the led out of and resoldering one of the wires. Put it back together and went for a short ride. 3 hours work - 20 minutes ride, doesn't sound fair but that's the way it goes sometimes.
  6. 1981 was a bad year for me as well and I thought I had to sell my bike. I did sell it & regretted it - I found that it wasn't necessary. Good luck and sorry to hear about your divorce ---
  7. I've got 35# in my Kumho - did some real nice twisties yesterday (2 up ) and loved the feel. Every once in a while I would get a wiggle and I noticed it was because of irregular paving on county roads
  8.
  9. I was pleased with the camping trip. Actually the camping was pretty wet but the object was to haul the Venture and pull the camper at the same time to get a feel for how it was going to act. The Venture in the back of the truck didn't make that much difference with regard to towing the camper. I'm looking forward to going to the Grand Canyon now and having our bike and all the amenities of a travel trailer.
  10. YEP That's it !!:rotfl:
  11. I have to remove my tailgate because the truck has a 6' bed. The gate would be in the way - with an 8' bed I think you have to take the gate off for loading and unloading but it can be installed for travel. The rampage sits about a foot beyond the bed and would not work with the gate on and as well I couldn't re-install the gate because of the Rampage.
  12. Rampage has a web site - really nice guy to deal with. Downside ? YEP - delivered to your door (new) is about $3000 plus. I got lucky and found one on ebay in Florida for $1500. I really didn't want to spend that kind of money for the few times a year we'll use it but I wanted it, didn't have to slight anything to get it so that's how it goes. and I really like the fact that I can take the bike anywhere I want to.

    Road Rage

I can't wait to see who gets the upper hand - I sure do see a civil suit if she gets convicted. If she can afford to carry, she should have insurance.

    Road Rage

Not in defense of either party but there is a LOT more to this than we will ever know. This is a sad case that will not have a palatable outcome for either party. Many times it makes more sense to walk away -
  15. I guess the downside to unloading is that you need to position the truck so that the 'nose' is uphill. The reason is that the unload function is gravity, you will have to get it started out of the truck then use the winch to let the bike roll down out of the bed. I don't mind that at all because when my wife wants to go camping, I can still have the bike
  16. I and and a friend have one and we use them all the time. If you are much of a fisherman and have experience with REAL fishing equipment, you will have to be satisfied with somewhat inferior equipment. They do work but the drag is not reliable and if you hook anything that wants to resist, you'll probably do better at landing it by going hand over hand with the line. Bottom line - if you ride in an area that has some smaller creeks and may have some smallmouth bass in them, the instant fisherman will come in handy. We have found that a small white spinner bait works great !
  17. Several months ago I bought a Rampage lift so that I could take the Venture and the camper to the Grand Canyon this year. I had a couple set backs with my right knee replacement and haven't been able to try it out until this past week. Attached are a few pics of the lift in action and the end result. This is one darn nice unit and really is a one man operation.
  18. when I started looking at laptops to replace the Dell that I had, I decided to go with the Apple MacBook Pro with 15" lcd. It fit my needs better than the rest but one problem is, it has more features than I have been able to use and a lot of them I haven't figured out yet. I guess over kill fits
  19. A riding friend has a 1998 RSTD and the side stand lets the bike lean too much. It always has, he just never questioned or did anything about it. Are all the '98' TD's like this and will a newer RSV stand bolt on and work w/o problems ?
  20. That is bizarre - such an unfortunate accident.
  21. I forgot to post the pics - the color change makes it go a LOT faster !!
  22. The only thing I did to my Midnite Venture was change the paint scheme, have Squidley sync the carbs and put HD Road King muffs on it. I don't believe the Venture was meant to be a race bike but it is the most comfortable bike I've owned out of 8 street bikes.
  23. I do it downshifting and sometimes while sitting at a light or stop sign just prior to accelerating. I guess it's a habit - plus I like the sound of the drilled out HD Road King mufflers.
  24. you have mail
  25. forgot to mention - the bolt that mounts the bar to the bike is a long one and requires a spacer that should be in the kit. With that spacer you can just loosen the light bar to remove the fairing in you have to.
