  1. Gloat all you want Annie, mine will be here soon enough and I'll join you !!
  2. Ruffy - count me in. Looks like I'm # 3 on the list - just let me know when you want paid adventure 1943
  3. Where's the bike at ?? In Dover or New Phila ?
  4. Actually - Adventure Harley bought another dealership and they send all their trades to that store. It's just a few miles away. If they had this '08' on the Harley floor, it must have been a really nice bike.
  5. Ok - I guess I'm invisible
  6. First_N_Last - This is too freaky - I bought my 'new' 2007 Venture in Smithfield Va, just South of Richmond and now you're coming up here to buy your 'new' Venture. There's a years difference in time but still it seems quite a coincidence.
  7. First_N_Last - I'd be happy to pick you up at the airport. I'm guessing that you bought your 'new' Venture from Adventure Harley Davidson ? send me an email rbyrd5@neo.rr.com and we can make arrangements. Dick Byrd 330-754-5640
  8. I've seen everything except a white shirt & tie at the missions I've attended. You don't need to notify anyone unless one of your riding friends didn't get/see the notice, then invite them. Bring your 3 X 5 flag and collapsible mast if you have one.
  9. maybe " you get what you pay for " really does mean something
  10. Has anybody had any experience with these pads ?? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/YAMAHA-Brake-Pads-XVZ-1300-XV-1600-Royal-Star-Silverado_W0QQitemZ200396948242QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotorcycles_Parts_Accessories?hash=item2ea896c312#ht_2983wt_872 I just bought a rear set from local dealer ( $ 47 including tax )
  11. Ponch - I failed to report that I got my set the other day ( sorry about that ) and I'm still hesitant about jumping in with the install. The instructions are more than adequate and after reading thru them a couple times, they do make sense to me. I guess I'll just have to make time to tackle it. I'll bet you can understand my apprehension when it took me 4 days to find a little nail in my bike tire.
  12. I've had a plug in my rear tire ( a Kumho ) for 3 days now and took a 50 mile ride today. I put 55# in when I plugged it and reduced the pressure to 40# after 24 hours. It never lost any @ 55# and when I got back today it still had 40# I'm happy
  13. I wasn't aware there was a chat room - but I just got in OK
  14. The plug that I did was in the tread at the first series - I think I would be MOST hesitant about plugging a sidewall. I've never done that and not sure I would in the future unless it was just a patch to get me home.
  15. Just curious - how many has plugged your flat tire on your car or truck ? I've been doing it for years without a failure and decided to plug my Kumho after I found that miniscule needle in it yesterday. It held 55# of pressure overnight so I have no doubt it will run it's life on my Venture. That is unless I manage to find another nail in the same tire.
  16. I have a 3 ring hard cover service manual and electrical trouble shooting manual by Honda in near perfect condition. It's for a 1995, they're pretty much the same up to and including 2000
  17. UPDATE Ok - this must be the dumb and dumber sequel. I have done everything I could do shy of putting the tire in water. The reason I didn't do that was because I couldn't find an available tub so just moments ago I put 90# of air in it for the second time. I AGAIN checked the bead on both sides with the tire flat as well as soapy stuff in the stem. NOTHING, no bubbles, no movement. I decided to take a real close look at the tread since I had an LED flashlight checking the bead. Never guess what I found with the flashlight and 90# of air - pictures attached. The first picture is the culprit, the excessive air pressure must have pushed it out a little 'cause I swear it wasn't there the last 2 times I looked. The diameter is less than a pencil lead and almost 1/2" long. The second picture is what happens to your finger when you push a plug in as hard as you can and it goes all the way and pinches your ( my ) finger. I'll know in the morning if that was the only problem and no, I not worried about plugging a tire. I've done it for years and never had a failure, no need to start worrying now.
  18. might be hard to believe but in my small town, pop. 1200, there are a couple biker attired individuals (as described in the original post) that do not have a bike now and probably will never own a bike.
  19. I too offer my condolences to the family and friends as just yesterday I lost a long time friend to cancer.
  20. sounds like a tongue weight problem, did something shift in the trailer ? empty cooler ?
  21. Well, the tire 'lost' 4# pressure overnight so I rechecked the torque on the stem and found it had a lot more to go so I tightened some more and pressured up to 50#. I'll check this afternoon and see where it's at. If it looses any pressure, off it comes and to the wet bath. I can't believe it's a bead seat loss, the tire looks uniform against the rim all the way around on both sides. The only frustrating thing is the leak, can't ride anyway. It's raining and will 'til Monday, not to mention that it's 37 degrees. I would like to get this resolved because there are still ( hopefully ) a few good fall days left for riding.
  22. I'm one of them if you're doing a head count
  23. Once again, this site, the members and their willingness to offer help and information are the GREATEST !! I believe I found the problem, I don't know yet but a few hours will tell truth. As suggested, I was checking the valve STEM and the first thing I found was that the nut and lock nut were less than finger tight - thus the SLOW leak ( I'm hoping ) I'll pressure up to 40# again and let it sit for a few hours, I'm betting I found the problem. THANKS GUY'S
  24. I wasn't aware that the stem was a pressure fit. should've guess it by the nuts on the stem. I'll check that before I take the tire off the bike. Thanks
  25. I recently had a Kumho installed on my 2007 Venture. From day one it has leaked air and I attributed that loss to normal things that tires do. Day before yesterday I walked by the bike and noticed that the tire was FLAT, not low but flat. I put the carbon one adapter on and lifted the bike with my sears RV/motorcycle lift. When I had it up I put 40# psi and let it sit overnight on the lift. This AM I checked the pressure and it had lost 5# overnight. I did all the pressure testing with a progressive zero loss gauge so the gauge is not a factor. Prior to setting the pressure for overnight test I made serious attempts to find a leak with soapy water - nada nothing My next move is to take the tire off and try submersing in water to find the culprit. Has anybody else had a pressure loss that could be construed as NOT normal ? and what is my next move should I actually find something ?
