Craigs list and Ebay are just as good or just as bad as the buyer will allow. I have been buying and selling on both for many years and the ONLY problem I have ever had is because of my OWN neglect. You can't blame a seller for trying to rip you off, it's your responsibility to recognize a thief. I can't remember any ads proudly announcing that they had every intention of ripping you off. I refuse to deal with a dealer that uses Craigs List, however, individuals can be screened and qualified with a phone call. If the seller refuses to list a phone number, that vendor will not be selling anything to me. Ebay is somewhat different in that they have a GREAT program that protects the buyer as well as the seller. PayPal is another tool you as a buyer can use to help protect yourself, it has saved me on several occasions with the highest dollar amount in a single transaction being $989. The point is, if someone gets in trouble with either craigs list or ebay it might just be because you didn't due your homework. Give me a couple minutes to get my flame suit on then blast away

and it reminded me that I wanted to ask here if anybody would like to have a set of heated grips for your Venture. The grips & control are on the bike now and I don't have a clue how to get them off but if someone helps me out I would be willing to trade the grips for a like new set of "factory" type grips. These heated grips have less than 7K miles use but I don't like the feel. As a matter of fact, since I tested the running table saw blade with my right thumb, getting a comfortable grip is difficult and I really do need a set of foamies but they won't go over the heated. pm me or call it's all in my profile Dick

Yeah, I get that too when I do something that doesn't agree with the co-pilot. It only takes a couple slaps to get her hand sore then I'm OK till the next trip

occasionally on my Venture trike (Hannigan) when I would run across patches in the road. I'm not refering to a little patch, I mean a bunch of pot hole patches on a road here in town. It's got more patches than regular hard top. Anyway, I thought perhaps the stem bearings needed re-tightened or at least torqued to some degree. Yesterday I was checking tire pressures prior to a ride today and I thought it might be a good idea to check the front shock pressure. I do have a zero loss hand pump pressure guage and screwed it on - ZERO I pumped both of them to 4lbs and went for a ride - no more head shake, i'd have never guessed the front shock pressure woud have that much effect.

We went to the then "home" store in Springfield Mo. about 20 years ago. Quite an experience and I believe a lot like the one Condor just described. Since then I do most my shopping on line and from the catalog unless I need something right away.

I tried that 4 different time - '88' w/motortrike, '90' w/motortrike, '2007' w/Champion, '2008' w/motortrike -NONE of them were as comfortable as a Venture with a pillow top seat and it could be more comfortable after Rick gets done with it. (the seat)

I had one for a short time but it was a fun bike while I had it. I found out it wasn't designed for 2 up so within a month I upgraded to a 1100, plenty of power

That's GREAT !! Thanks for your efforts Lewis. -
Looking at the time stamp on your post, I'm guessing you were sleep walking and had a humorous thought. You'll be OK when you wake up.

Anybody have a CD changer in their bike ?
Hummingbird replied to Hummingbird's topic in Watering Hole
Thanks Steve, I haven't decided how to do it yet but I'm pretty sure that if I put the bike on the side, I've got more trouble than a CD skipping. -

Lewis, you didn't say how much you gathered for this years donation - just curious Dick -
Anybody have a CD changer in their bike ?
Hummingbird replied to Hummingbird's topic in Watering Hole
Thanks Steve - I'll probably mount it flat as I already have the wrap around metal mounting bracket. If the cable is long enough I'll also put it in the tour box just for easy access. I'm dealing with a Hannigan trike kit so I don't know for sure where it will go - -

Thanks for the info - it makes a lot more sense now. The po said that I would have to drill a hole for the cable. I guess I need to decide where to mount it, or rather where the cable will allow me to mount it -
I got a Clarion 6 Disc changer with the Hannigan but it wasn't installed. I was told that the wires were tucked in under the trike kit bit I haven't looked yet. The question I have is "how is the unit controlled ? " I have a changer - period. I'm sure there has to be something to tell it to play etc. It surely doesn't integrate into the bikes audio system like the radio controls ?

In the 56 byears that I've been a legal licensed driver I have yet to run into one of the "other" leo's. Every time I have an incident, it was my fault and I readily admitted it to them. Long story short - I was speeding, got caught, my drivers license had been expired for nearly a year ( I wasn't aware), i wasn't drinking, he sent me home without a ticket, warned me to take off work the next day and get things right. Guess what I did - missing a days work was a lot cheaper than getting car out of impound and paying a speeding ticket and whatever else he could have thrown at me. Bottom line, I have nothing but respect for our leo's

playing devils advocate - You get what you pay for. Seldom is something BETTER than the price paid initially and one should expect a lessor product when paying a lessor price.

He who hesitates - well he hesitates no sense in rubbing salt in open wounds. I'm pretty sure before that can be done you'll have get your foot out of your - well you know

Yes, the triple tree makes it seem like power steering. Big difference versus non modified
-
Dan, I don't know a thing about Victory bikes but I do know that MotorTrike makes a real good kit. I've had 3 of them but all on Honda's and 2 of them were solid axle GL1500's. The IRS is GREAT but you might want to confirm whether it has a modified triple tree.
-
Dan, If the Victory is a solid axle and air cooled - 2 strikes against comfort. If it's an independant suspension, it will most likely have an onboard air adjustment for the kit. Within the last 2 1/2 years I've had 3 trikes, a 2007 GL1800 level 4 w/Champion solid axle, 2008 GL1800 level 4 w/MotorTrike IRS and currently a 2009 RSV with a Hannigan. Comfort level for driver (imho) RSV w/Hannigan #1, GL1800 w/MotorTrike IRS #2 and the solid axle on anything #3 MotorTrike is a good kit but I'm sure you will regret buying a solid axle if you have the opportunity to get even a trip around the block on an IRS from any mfg. I still owned the Champion when we rode the Motortrike and it was a 2 block ride that convinced me to buy it. Actually it was the grin on my wifes face that did it ! call me if you want to talk - be happy to share

a definite miss on one cylinder
Hummingbird replied to Hummingbird's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Absolutely correct - my problem is that I can never seem to find the right search word - wrong terminology I guess Thanks for the info, I did get a factory tool kit when I got the Trike -

I mentioned to somebody earlier that I'm not a mechanic but your touch method makes a lot of sense (even to me) gonna go out and try it. I used to use that same method when dealing with electricity (120v) just a quick touch to see if a metal box had the short. A lot of fun on a 277v security light - ouch ! -
a definite miss on one cylinder
Hummingbird replied to Hummingbird's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
UPDATE - I just took it out to get gas, still had a miss so I filled the tank (4 gallons) and dumped about 1/3 bottle of injector cleaner. I went for a quick (and hard) 10 mile ride and upon returning to my driveway I pulled in and sat there at idle - no miss, no hesitation on acceleration. What was the cure ? have no idea, don't really care because the injector cleaner won't do anything but clean the carbs better than the seafoam had already done. If the miss re-appears then I guess I need to look at the plugs.
