Not ruffling my feathers at all...out here in California, if you run 65 on the freeway you will get run over by a semi-truck, then run over again by the SUV being driven by the split-tail talking on her cell phone while putting on her make-up! But even above that, we all have our "comfort" zones and mine is around 80 to 85 mph on the freeways. I guess I'm lucky - I have never driven in California, bike or car so my concept and yours have a totally different view. I guess I understand tho - I've been on I 95 in Georgia at 6AM and I think the speed limit is 65 - doesn't make any difference, whatever it is I usually run 3 to 5 over and if I don't get the heck outta their way, I also will get run over by semi's and most everybody else.

If I weren't so darn lazy I'd just wire in one of the timers I have lying around. I think there's 3 of them in the shed - that way the flowers could have their heat at night and the light would shut off at daylight when it's supposed to.

just playing devils advocate and don't mean to ruffle too many feathers BUT why is it soooo important to run 80 plus mph ? In ohio the maximum speed limit is 65 and occasionally I get all the way up to 75 when I travel South of Ohio.

yeah - the dealer was correct, they weren't pulling your ah whatever. it only takes a little vibration to disrupt or even 'fix' a charging system. That would be a temporary 'fix' seems a shame you would have to check all the nuts and bolts on a new bike tho - - -

This might be part of the reason my electric bill is so high ! I have a 25' flag pole in my yard and have a 500watt Mercury Vapor on a photo eye. Linda likes to plant flowers around the pole and the heat of the day along with the heat from the light all night make for quite a good growing environment. betcha can't guess where the photo eye is ??

The Kumho is NOT for everybody. It seems that we all have different riding habits ass well as terrain. I'm thus far perfectly happy with my Kuhmo, it does what I want for the type of riding that I do. I'd like to buy your Kumho but it'll be several years before I need to replace the one on my Venture.

Sorry about the empty part - I just didn't have any gold or diamonds lying around that Linda wasn't using.

I'm sure that most everybody can tell the difference between an International cab-over with a Detriot 318 and a Venture. First off, the Detroit HAD to be kept on peak or it was forever to recover, hence the shifting w/o a clutch. Second, there was no tweaking or adjusting with the exception of going down even with the 2 speed. It just worked better w/o use of the clutch. A simple blip of the accelerator kept everything in sync. I haven't tried it on my Venture and quite frankly, I never will. The machines are 2 totally different pieces of equipment. I have found so far that engine speed isn't the key with the Venture, it's the gears. Anybody that has HAD to drive anything with a Detroit 318 knows exactly what I'm talking about.

I drove an old International cab-over for several years and the only thing the clutch was good for was sitting at a traffic light, going up or down was quicker and easier w/o the clutch. However, I don't understand why anybody would want to deliberately eliminate the clutch on a Venture (1st or 2nd gen) for perhaps the sake of speed or ease. There's got to be stress and strain involved that will eventually put the drive train in jeopardy. I'm not a mechanic but it sure seems like a deliberate abuse of the pecking order with regard to drive train use. It doesn't make sense to me but then I already admitted ' I'm not a mechanic ' Bottom line -- it's a personal decision

Bidding on TCI

I do the same thing with various items of marketable value. If it's looks to be going cheap enough that I can turn it over and make a few bucks, I'm all over it in the last 5 seconds of the auction. 'course I don't always win but I don't care -
just send me a check when you get around to it. Dick Byrd P.O. Box 451 Malvern, Ohio 44644 and you're welcome, you gotta let me know how it's received
