I have an 07 Toyota Tacoma 4door that I really like, alot! It has the 6 cylinder engine and is the PreRunner which means it is 2wd but set up like a 4wd. The rear differential locks when needed and comes in handy. It also has a built in generator and a 110 receptacle in the bed which is really handy too. BUT, don't buy this truck for gas mileage. I only get 18 mpg due to the towing package on it. I really like the truck and it handles a trailer and bike really well.

I just bought a 5x10 tilt trailer from a local manufacturer here in Southeast Missouri. I recently hauled my RSV on a 5x8 with a ramp and that trailer was too small. I had to rig the ramp at an angle because the trunk, etc stuck out to far. I also didn't like that ramp sticking up in the air. Even tho it was the expanded metal (mesh) it still caught alot of air and mileage on my truck suffered. Thus, I went with the tilt trailer. I'll put a strip of the expanded metal on the floor to give the bike some traction. Rock guards can easily be added as well as a wheel chock. The trailer with new wheels and tires cost me $600 new.

I hope they were smart enough to fix that issue. The vstar 1100's were horrible when it came to what had to be done to change the oil on them.

One last time: THE 'WHINE'!
slick97spirit replied to Bluesman's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Well said!!!!!!!!!! -
As per my name you may guess that I have a thing for the shadow spirit. I rode the crap out of one for nearly 5 years and it was bullet proof, as well as comfortable, quick, etc. Mine was an 1100 but they do make em smaller. Wanted to throw it out there as an option. Slick

One last time: THE 'WHINE'!

Listen, I had been looking at RSV's for 5 years. Really liked the way they looked & all. Then I started researching on hear when I came close to actually purchasing one and had the same concerns you do. Since buying this bike I can tell you that the whine I hear is not objectionable to me. In fact in my opinion when I'm riding it and hear that it honestly makes it sound "more powerful" to me. I don't want a motorcycle that is completely quiet. I want it to sound strong, powerful, and ready to run. You will like this bike. Yes it has some quirks like all bikes and vehicles do. Test ride it if you can, but you won't be disappointed. Good luck & God Bless -
Down shifting = common sense. If the light turns green or another driver looks as though they're coming in too fast behind you, it's good to have the bike in the proper gear for the getaway!

You can also adjust the back rest so that the stop is more forward than normal. I did that to mine & it helped quite a bit.

But, it won't be long & you'll be glad you had that done.

RSTD Windshield Bag Installed
slick97spirit replied to okscott's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Looks great. I've been thinking about one of those. Any trouble getting to the windshield -
We have a gas log set up in our fireplace and will never go back. It looks really good and will heat the entire upstairs. The basement gets pretty cold, but we only use it to take the chill off if it gets really cold. Otherwise, the heat pump is our main source.

I have a 30" inseam and I went with the Kuryaken (spelling?) straight pegs which work really well for me. I checked on the offset ones but was afraid they would be hard for me to reach. With the straight ones, I place my heels on the boards and toes on the pegs. Very comfortable. My bars were 1" but I ride a 2000 RSV. I'm not sure about your year model. Others on here will soon respond tho, they always reply with helpful info. Enjoy your scoot, be safe. Ken Missouri

Good looking bike, yeah. Better than all the others out there, me thinks not! Worth $30K, absolutely not!!!!!!!!!

I'm not sure I understand what motivates people to fake stuff like this. Hope they're putting this much effort into the really important areas of their life!

Same here Bill. I've been telling the wife about how great everyone on this site is about helping with info & that I'm looking forward to meeting some of them. NakedRider and myself are the only ones in the Cape/Jackson area riding the RSV so not alot to pull from down this way.

We're gonna try to go up Friday night & hope to ride with em Saturday. It's not in the bag tho. We're trying really hard to get to know some of these folks on here.

I wish I could but the wife and I have a trip planned to Hot Springs the next week. Are you planning on doing the St. Charles M&G?

I quit 3 years ago. Smoked about 1 pack a day. What I really miss is my occassional cigar while riding, fishing, and golf. Otherwise, I don't miss the smokes.

Well, got my carb tune pro in and did it today for the first time. Followed the instructions listed in the thread on here and it was a breeze other than locating the adjustment screws. 1 & 2 were synched as well as 3 & 4, but 3 & 4 were out of synch with 1 & 2. Got it all adjusted and man, this bike is quick. Really hoping that the mileage improves as that was the main motivation for wanting to tune them. Last time I checked, I was getting right around 30 mpg. We'll see. Thanks for all the great info located here.

I paid a little over $7K for my 2000 with 24,000 on it. As far as the number of miles. From what I can gather on this forum, there are quite a few bikes with over 100K and more.

I think my switch is starting to go bad as I have to wiggle the key to get it out of lock position. If I do the by-pass, do you still have to use the key? Have some of you left this on permanently or is it a temporary fix? Would the by-pass make it easier to steal? I'm thinking about doing this mod before the switch goes bad.
-
My switch seems hard to get into position or sometimes out of the lock setting. After reading these posts I'm wondering if mine is going bad. I was wondering about the by-pass. If it's installed, is the key still used or do you just use the by-pass from then on. Do you guys leave that switch on permanently? I'm thinking about doing the mod. but unsure about the key use afterwards.
