  1. BigboyinMs (Dave), Coast Cycle World on the coast might be your next choice. I have bought 4 rides from them, most recently my 07 rsv and 08 1100 custom, and went to high school w/ steve the owner. Always willing to talk price. Tell'em Carl sent ya.:080402gudl_prv:

  2. I can't say which was my favorite. I loved them all for what they were, each different and intended to be used differently. I'll go in order of ownership. Honda trail 50 lots of fun, kawasaki KZ 400 couldn't kill it, Honda hawk 400 manual shift economical, Honda 750/four wow, hold on tight, Nighthawk 650 greased lightning, Yamaha YZ 125 sit on the tank and twist the throttle, Honda vtx 13r beutifal bike, Yamaha V-Star 1100 custom w/ gost flames so nice to ride on twisties, and finally 2007 RSV Blue on Black an easy chair w/ wheels and what a beauty. Carl

  3. I'm not picking on the Harley's and the newest one I have owned was a 1978 but the gears in that bike were not synchronized so you would get some grinding from time to time when down shifting.

Other than that I agree with everyone else.

I'm going to have to look at my manual. What is that down shifting only at 16 mph business? First I ever heard of that.

Did I mention he ownes an HD Fat Boy? I guess that was important.

  4. OK guys this is my first thread forgive me if I do it wrong. I want to know your opinions on down shifting when slowing down, basically using the engine as a brake. I have done this for years and never had any problems or caused any damage to my bikes that I know of. I had a friend tell me the other day that he wouldn't do that to his bike. When I do this I don't over-rev the engine, so I don't see the problem. Is it too much on the tranee? I appreciate and respect your opinions and thank you in advance. Carl:Venture:

  5. Hey folks, this is my first time to post a thread. What I want to do is replace oem antena w/ shorter black antenas w/o loosing reception quality. What is a good brand and where can i fetch-um? Thanks in advance. Carl:7_6_3[1]:

  6. Just be careful! If you try to rotate the top of the lower mount, you can shear the black plastic pin that holds it together. If I remember correctly, pull the rubber boot off the bottom and loosen that nut to rotate the entire antenna. :080402gudl_prv:

That would be correct my friend, then just loosen the one nut on bottom and spin it around.

  7. Accidents like that is preventable...my weekly safety check is to verify tire psi. If the bike sat for at least 3 days, I always have the urge to just double check psi. This weekend, the bike is going up on stands for a visual safety check and undercarriage cleaning...:)

As far as rear whine is concerned, I am just a little over 2K miles on my odo and does not have any significant whine. All I hear is the whistling of the Yamaha engine during acceleration...I see there are '07 Ventures here with rear end whine. At what mileage do you start to hear a significant whine on your '07 Venture?

I have the clicking at slow speeds but no Whine. Clicks louder as I back it up?:7_6_3[1]:
