Well I do not have a picture of a gauge pod. It was made about 10 or so years ago to fit on the gas tank where the pod is that goes around the gas cap. It was made to hold 2 items like a tac and voltage gauge or ??? I keep looking for one but have not ran across one yet. If you do a search you will see some threads about it. Now if you have a way to produce one let me know.

I too hate scotch locks I have a couple boxes that where given to me many years ago and just can not bring myself to use them. The wiring repair I was doing on the motorcycle I took the pics of had wrong color and gauge of wires. Had to replace most of the wiring and The person used the 2 into 1 type scotch locks. This truly was a wiring botch job they used 14 gauge into 28 and back to 14, 10 gauge into 16 in different colors, pink-green-black-red-white with and without stripes. seems what ever they had they used and small pieces they put together. But its all fixed and working.

1st gen, 2nd gen passenger comfort questions..
kantornado replied to cowpuc's topic in Watering Hole
We went from the 1983 Venture standard to a 2002 Midnight and put over 100k together on the 83. Owned it for 20 years and now have over 100k on the Midnight and lots of 2 up riding as well. Linda says she likes the Midnight more than the 83, She says she is more comfortable and has more room, she says she has better sleep time and reading a book is easier. While both seats are equally comfy the back rest on the 02 is better suited for her while the buffeting to her is about the same. As for me with a passenger on I do like the 83 over the 02 seemed more balanced but the 02 is more smoother going down the road then the 83, seems to have a firmer footprint on the road and is even more comfortable on my knees and back. I do miss the 83 it was a outstanding motorcycle. But I love this 02 and would not go back even tho I would of loved to of owned a 93 just to see how it compared. Good thread -

Thank you all for your valuable incite and knowledge. I knew when posting this that those who work in or around electricity would tell all of the worldly stories of all the special tools or items to purchase one needs to accomplish a simple task. The purpose of my thread was to enlighten those who may not have known nor the knowledge or like me who has 100's of connectors and am to frugal to purchase other types of connectors. So thank you for your input and valuable product knowledge. We all learn from one another.

I was splicing some wires today and thought I would share some knowledge I was given in my youth complete with pictures. This will give you more space for multiple connectors and a cleaner look. Works great with limited space. Pic1: Choose type of solder less connector. Yellow,Blue,Red Pic2: Place connector in a opening (vice shown) just wide enough for the outer edges of shielding to set on the edges of vice. Pic3: Take a punch and tap out center of connector. Pic4: What connector looks like as you tap center out. Pic5: Center out of shielding. Pic6: Place shrink tube over wires and connect wires. Pic7: Put shrink tube over wires and heat up to shrink.

I have not seen this posted and have done several on bikes I owned and other peoples bikes I figured sense I was doing a trunk. I would post pics of this simple way to mount a trunk luggage rack. 1) cut 2 strips from a piece of cardboard. (from a box approx 1/8 to 3/16 thick) 2) lay them on the trunk and mask tape them down. 3) place luggage rack on both strips on trunk and get it centered. 4) press very hard on all corners not moving luggage rack (if you make a error just replace cardboard). 5) mark center of indentations with a felt marker. 6) drill pilot hole. 7) drill to desired hole diameter and clean residue from holes and clean trunk. 8) mount luggage rack and your done. Hope this helps those of you that want to put a rack on your trunk but was leery about doing it....Ron

Nice weapon and the 40 is a good size and very smooth. The Ruger has been very reliable over the years.

Thank you Jim!! I will look for one at the pawn shops here and I have 30 days to return it. I kinda thought I did not make myself clear as to what I am looking for. Un mp3 player that plays music from A to Z with out random play function. I ran across a music angel that would be perfect if it would turn off and on with the ignition. The reason I thought of a gps is there are so many kinds with mp3 functions I thought I might find one with a mp3 player I am looking for. and what a better place to ask........Ron

I'm looking for a GPS unit that plays the mp3 music continuous from a to z and no random play also shuts off or turns on with the ignition. Or if you know of a mp3 player that will do the same I would like to know. Do not care about brand or screen resolution. I use my phone gps witch is much more accurate. I have a Megellan Road Mate 6000T GPS. and for as much as I payed for it at the time its pretty crappy. I mount it in my dash bag and never even look at it. its hard wired. Thanks in advance......Ron

LOL!! Under a rock...Rick I posted it in October, but never did a medical update. I was really sore and Linda talked me into going to the Doctor Well I had a fractured right ankle, sprained left ankle and a fractured shine bone (very painful) I might add. She was kinda pissed I did not go sooner and I did not take time off work. After being unemployed for a year and as tough as it was for me to get employment, I was not about to jeopardize my job. So I worked through the pain and impressed my bosses to the point of a promotion. So it turned out just fine as far as I am concerned.:cool10:

A few months back I hit some anti freeze on the road and went down. I needed a right side front crash bar and could not find one. The dealer told me they were on back order and I would have at least a 4 month wait. The cost was $425.00 plus shipping, and for the heck of it I ask what it would cost to have it installed and he gave me a ball park of $600.00 give or take. So I figured I might find one on ebay or craigslist. But no dice!! I was looking for L.E.D. driving lights and stumbled on a boat place in Georgia and guess what, they had a right crash guard for my 02 Venture (go figure) and for $277.00 brand new with free shipping. I put it on and it took me 4.5 hrs (that's with coffee and smoke brakes) It was a little more work then I figured it to be but not $600 worth. I am a happy camper and glad I waited....:happy34:

If I was to buy I think it would be a toss up between the 2014 Yamaha Stratoliner Deluxe or 2014 Victory Vision Touring. The people I know who own them just love them. I have ridden both and like the fit. So these are my choices, not much, but better then none. H-D's are out have owned um and know and ride with people who regret buying theirs. People who I know who own the Goldwing love it but it just does not fit me right. I like the bike but its uncomfortable to me.

Have shot a variety of hand guns here in the desert. Hanging around a bunch of MARINES, one gets to try out a variety of weapons. My Favorite is my Glock22-40cal, Next is my Taurus PT908-9mm. Both are in my opinion excellent weapons. Colt:1911 .45 caliber pistol nice, big and great stopping power and fits like the 9 and 40. Browning 1911/22cal. is a great weapon and fun to shoot, shells are inexpensive and it has the feel of the 3 above. 380 is a nice small front pants pocket weapon, I can carry it and it is not visible at all. Wheel guns different story 357/38 double action nice size and 38's are relatively cheap to go plink. Some what easy to C-C 44 magnum is just a fun cannon,454 even more of a fun cannon, but neither practical or tactical. Hope this helps you and others in some way I too have large hands..

Do what you have to do. Rode in more then 8 inches of snow with 1/2 inch ice for a base. Rode at 20 below and at more then 120 degrees, weathered tornadoes and hail. Driving rain, wind and If you ride more the a piece of driveway jewelry these things happen. Not saying I liked any of it and in some cases there was definitely a PUCKER FACTOR. I do love to ride and these thing happen, would be nice if it was sunny, clean roads always paved and 70 degree temps. I am sure his pucker factor was HIGH, just sayin:cool10:
