Passing Lamp Spacer Update
kantornado replied to BMW's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I also bought BMW's spacer and it worked great.I used a long handled ball Allen wrench to remove the two Allen head bolts. I also used 2 1/4X20X2 inch bolts with locking nuts and rubber tips on the end of bolt to act as stops against the forks. The stops are about 1/8 inch away from the forks and it stabilizes the wind deflectors. Sorry no pics my camera is in Mn...........................Ron- 57 replies

A drunk driver killed a friend of mine last night while he was out running errands on his bike. Mike was good people, someone you could always count on and the type of guy you just wanted to ride with. Squidly reminds me of Mike and I liked Squidly from the time I met him. When I got the news I was P.O. I have spent the day thinking of all the neat rides we shared. As well as a wedding dance. The last time I saw him was at a Funeral of a friends Dad before moving out here to Vegas and I gave him a big bear hug and said I"m not going to say goodbye just till I see you again and we both got a little misty. Writing this is helping me grieve and it hurts allot because I was wanting to call Mike and tell him what a good friend he is,but put it off cause I will be in Minnesota in a couple weeks and figured I would see him then. So now it looks like I will say till we meet again when I go to his burial site. He loved to ride and loved family and friends and I know there will be allot of both at his funeral. I hate the fact another drunk has taken such a good friend away. So far to date this makes My Dad and 2 good friends someone driving while under the influence has killed. Thanks for listening..............................................Ron

Rain suite maybe...........LOL:rotf::rotf: I lived in Longmont for 15 years and I know what you mean about the weather changing so rapidly. Unless you have lived in Colorado people really have no idea. To go from 90 degrees to snowing in 20 minutes has to be experienced. Unless you get some rain gear you will have to get used to the rain settling in your crotch. That is just part of the motorcycling experience,so enjoy and welcome to the group.......................Ron

VMAX Rear for RSV ordered
kantornado replied to Freebird's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Well I read almost all the 82 posts here and I too am very interested in this modification. With the trailer and 2 up the weight was enough to keep me down shifting at anything under 65 mph. If I am pulling hills up and down I found myself shifting constantly and would wind up in 3rd or even 2nd. So I am looking foreword to your assessment FREEBIRD after your DRAGON trip...................................................Ron -
Glad you did that and I hope you get a response. I like the idea of a copy to the chain of command and the media(don't care much 4 them) but there a necessary evil. Video would be way cool.....................................Ron

I copyed and pasted this from another thread I posted. I had a heck of a time with my converter,I too thought it was bad and took it back and exchanged it for another and this is what I found and had to do. Hope this helps you...........................Ron Here you go and this may save someone else a headache. The converter is called T.A.P. HOPPY circuit guard for a Toyota cost is 15.00. I bought it at Northern tool. T.A.P. ---------------Bike Tail - Brown----------- Yellow Left - Yellow-----------Brown Right - Green ----------Green Brake - Red ------------Blue Then there is a BIG RED WIRE to the positive post on the battery and a white to ground. Hope this helps out I have not had any trouble with it at all............................................Ron

The BADBOY air horn is 117 db It is similar to the STABLE air horn 138 db we put on the 2nd Gen's but not as loud. I had the red one's on my 83 and they work real well. I hid them in the fairing. The only trouble with them is that in time you will need to add a little oil to the air movement mechanism as it will stick and it becomes useless at the time you need it most. Just test the horn every now and then. I had them on my 83 for a good 15 years and sold them working on the bike. So that 15.00 will be a good value..........................................Ron

I could not find the one FREEBIRD has on the converter. I used one for a small car and the only difference was the way the color chart was diagrammed. I rewired my trailer twice and added new lights before I figured out the color code for the wires where off by one. I put everything on here and then we had the crash and it was lost. If you need the info I can. Never mind I will just repost it so maybe someone else can use the info too.................Ron

We wish to THANK each of you that sent words of encouragement and prayers in our time of grief. It is especially hard to come to grips with the loss of a younger sibling and its hard to lose a parent but it is expected at some point and is a little better to deal with. To lose a child or younger sibling is a very difficult thing to handle. We would like to say a BIG THANK YOU to all our VENTURE RIDER friends it really means allot..................................Ron & Linda
