That is one nice rigg. Plastic repair is S R O on most of these bikes. That is a great looking scoot and will make someone a very happy camper. LOVE the color and if I was looking it would be mine...........Ron

Great pictures and I know you all had a great time. I had a 81 XS11 with Pacifico fairing, Bates bags and a Vetter trunk, Kawasaki bag rails and a home made trailer hitch. It was one Heck of a bike and I loved putting the s-miles on her. Bought the bike stock and started adding stuff from a motorcycle salvage place in Colorado. Lots of time thinking of things to do to it. Added a radio cassette player and a one hand CB radio and used chrome cabinet door handles as rails along the trunk. Painted her Burgundy and silver with blue strips. The guy who bought it from me still rides it to this day. GREAT BIKE and thanks for the walk down memories lane.............Ron

Question on turn signal
kantornado replied to kantornado's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Thank you all for the response. I traced the wires back and all was connected. I tried everything I could think of and had no result. So I figure to order a new one and out of the blue it started working?? Go FIGURE! Thanks for the input and now I know at least were to start if it happens again. Maybe someone else may learn from this thread as I did. Thanks allot for your replies.......................................Ron -
Question is do I need to replace the left turn signal or the signal switch or the relay?? My left front turn signal went out, so I replaced it and it still will not work?? Tried another bulb and still not working. Cleaned out the holder and still not working. The light still works but not the turn portion of the bulb?? I thought if you had power to the bulb both would work. Give me some of your wisdom please. THANK YOU in advance.......................Ron

Pete when you going to be here in Vegas?? How many in your party? Its kinda dead on the strip and I feel there really going to be making deals in a couple weeks. The hookers where the only traffic on the strip on Sunday to today. Barrett Jackson will be here in a week and thats the only action I know of going on and the casinos are really excited about that because it will bring some high rollers and want to bees here for a few days. There hoping to re-coupe some revenue. The economy is down all over. The only casino that is doing good is Mandalay Bay there keeping right around 70 to 100% booked. But that will change after the auto auction......................Ron

Very nice job you did on the scoot. I can tell you from experience It will take some time for the mental heal. I have hit 2 cars a pickup and a deer. But riding is what I love and these are the risks we take. Good luck to you and again JUST RIDE...............Ron

Thanks Brad we sure don't want you on a rant;) The guy in my group was ranting enough for all of us. Very choice words. He about blew a gasket when the shop guy mentioned about how it might be under inflation. He says the only time the tire was under inflated was when the tire was off the rim. Kept talking about the reason he bought a compressor and tire gages and such. But we know its because he had it under inflated;) any good tire company will tell you that. Because it is the only reason there tire would come apart. Lack of maintenance on our part.......................................................Ron

We had a Metzler 880 marathon come apart on a run yesterday and thank goodness we were only doing 45mph at the time. The tire shop was only a couple miles away and when we got to the shop there were 2 guys there who had there Metzler's come apart also. the date of manufacture on there tires was 08 with less the 5k miles and the guy in our group his date was 07 with a little over 6k on his tire. I like my AVON'S and think I will stick with them. The Dunlap 2's were great on my 1st Gen and I loved how they handled. But on this 2nd Gen I will stick with AVON'S. If your running Metzler's be careful and check them often. We have Bikefest 08 going on out here now and bikes are everyware.................................................Ron

It is time for a update and that I have not kept you all abreast of what’s going on in our world. Linda and I are loving living in Las Vegas, the weather is fantastic and I ride the bike all the time. We ride with some really nice people and we both have bonded with them very well and have made many new friends. If you did not know Linda absolutely loves her new job at the VA and really has connected with her co-workers. We have sold the house in Minnesota (Finlay). The economy is tough all over but really tough out here. There are allot of jobs in the minimum wage range and allot of competition in the better paying fields . I have been hired at Mandalay Bay as a security officer (only took 14 months). So far I have not met anyone of importance yet but I have met some rappers and hip hop players. ( kinda cool) I get to see some real high rollers and we get access to see some really good shows through MGM so its not a bad gig I just cannot gamble on any of there property's. I figure it’s a good thing. Lol So with all that being said I am really excited about this opportunity and the position is a good opportunity and it is a job I might just really like. We have bought a new house and finally got moved in so the last 4 weeks have been kind of hectic. We just got the Internet hooked up with the phone and cable in. We have no TV yet and figure to buy one in a couple months. I want a 60 inch plasma but the NAVIGATOR keeps telling me to think smaller. We are both very happy about the move here and think it was a good decision. Even though we left some really good friends but it opens the door for some very nice visits. Now here are some things we have learned about living here in Vegas. 1.When you ride the bike out in July 07 make sure it is not record breaking temperatures. 2.When it rains it really does pour like pee out of a boot for 5 minutes. 3.The roads flood very fast and do not drive through it. 4.The roads become slick (VERY SLICK) like driving on black ice.(on 2 wheels it sucks) 5.It is a dry heat like opening an oven and sticking your head in it. 6.Make sure you have a job before coming out here. 7.Make sure you change cell to local number. (they will not call you otherwise) 8.Make sure you get a Nevada drivers license right away. ( they will not hire you without one) 9.There are lots of jobs for local established people. (not out of towner's) 10.Before your hired they climb up your butt with a microscope and really check you out. So things are starting to turn around for us and with all the above we are happy with the move. We want to have a VR maintenance day at some point when we get settled. Right now we are fixing the place up. The owner of the foreclosed property was a idiot/ He took stuff and broke walls like a little kid who did not get his way/ Blamed the bank for his misfortune. I have lost 2 homes and many jobs but never acted like this idiot did. But we did get a good price on the house in a great neighborhood. Its more home then we wanted but in 10 years maybe we will make enough to retire.LOL You all are the GREATEST bunch of scooter dudes and dudettes. Hope you all can make it this way at some point because we have a place for you to stay now …….......................................Ron

How bought using a pair of passenger pegs with a chrome 1 inch pipe clamp. I got a pair of pretty cool ones at a bike salvage place and bought a couple clamps bent them around the bar and added nylon lock nuts. It worked for me on my old XS1100 and they really looked nice. I know you don't want to get a lot of money tied up in them and I to am pretty frugal. http://www.globalspec.com/FeaturedProducts/Detail/AmericanStainlessSupply/Carbon_Steel_Hangers_and_Accessories/58727/0?fromSpotlight=1 Thought I would throw this nextag in to give you some ideas....................Ron http://www.nextag.com/passenger-pegs/search-html

Update on Metzeler tire failure and replacement
kantornado replied to midnightventure's topic in Watering Hole
I am in total agreement I won't buy another Metzler again. Air pressure my butt, There trying to cover theres. We really like these AVON VENOMS and the NAVIGATOR notice the difference right away. Keep getting the word out to other riders, I do at every ride I go on and see a set on a bike............Ron -
Linda and I saddened to here this news Rick. Hope all of you have a safe trip home and we are praying for BigBobs speedy recovery. Keep us informed and you all be carefully out there................Ron

WaltH http://venturerider.org/forum/images/statusicon/user_offline.gif SAID http://venturerider.org/forum/images/icons/icon1.gif Drink/cup holder mounts? Who is making the best, most versatile drink holder out there? What kind of mount would work for the passenger? As you can see there are many different variations of cup holders liked by the members here. I used the one ECK has on my 1st GEN and really liked it on the other hand the one I have now is pretty good and serves me well. You can get a cup holder to suite your needs and type of cup you want to use from $5.00 to $100.00. But to me the best and most versatile is the one ECK has as well as the least expensive......................................Ron

As Squidly said "Bill, you do a lot for this forum, no apology is necessary" I get my dander up to as we all do and I am very opinionated also. Something here gets my bells in a uproar and I have typed out a page of rage and after I am finished I read it, Spell check it, then refine it and after I am done and have made my point I DELETE IT. Because I am calmed down by then. Also because there is no need for me to make enemies over a subject that will not change the minds on either side of the fence. Besides I might lose a good friend for something that in the long run really will not matter down the road. In the scheme of things it will not serve this site for the better and has no real value but to hurt someone..............................Ron:2cents:

Glad you all are O.K. The NAVIGATOR and I hit a deer a mile outside of Gibon,MN I think 12 years ago.(man time flies) I got a cool helicopter ride to HCMC. Makes it hard to dodge deer them buggers travel at 40+ coming out of them cornfields or tree lines and there dumber then a box of rocks. We done hit one and don't want to do it again. Hit 2 cars and a pickup and do not want to repeat that either. Like the deer theres not much you can do when they jump out at you or run stop signs and lights. Don't let to much time go by before your riding again. Good luck with the insurance and get well quick. Body heals quick its that mental thing. I was seeing deer in every bush on the side of the road for awhile .......................Ron P.S. thats a cool avitar you have there..........Ron

StarRider07 Thanks for the info and we hope you get a satisfactory answer. I got rid of my Metzler's after it kinda split in a couple a spots and went to AVON. The riders I was riding with all had the same thing to say about Metzler's and is why they switched to another brand of tire. Of course the guy who's tire went out was asking WHY HE DID NOT GET THE MEMO. I look foreword to reading what they have to say. I am sure it's the first they have herd. ..............................Ron
