  3. I rode to Prince Edwards Isl and Nova Scotia in 2001 I highly recomend Nova Scotia but didn't care for Prince Edwards isl the bridge going over was the scariest ride I ever had the wind was blowing and it is only a 2 lane road so one minute you are looking at the ocean the next you are looking at on coming traffic but if you go to Nova Scotia camp at the nat park on the noerthern tip it is awsome then motor down to the southern port you will not be dissappointed.
  4. I am in the process of buying a house and may need to sell my 84 Vr in very good condition. It has 34000 original miles and has lots of extras like the original exhaust, spare saddle bag parts, new in the bag clutch master and slave rebuild kits I ride the bike every day I put Iridium plugs plus new wires and caps,Tires are about 75% everything works and it has an aftermarket cd payer. If you know anyone interested I only want 1800 for everything,it is in Fort Pierce Fl, pm me and I will give the specifics. TOM
  5. Last year when I rode down the Parkway I camped at Otter Creek and Crabtree Meadows campgrounds and they were nice and clean if you like tent or RV camping. When I camped at Crabtree the county is a dry one so if you like to have a cold one after setting up camp you have to bring them with you. Tom
  6. Last Labor Day week I rode my bike down from Mass to Florida via Skyline Drive and Blueridge PkwyI camped everynight at the campgrounds along the way.The cell phone coverage is bad I had to go down the mountain to call people but the campgrounds are great they have running water and clean bathrooms I would like to do it again sometime soon. I have pics of some of the campgrounds one morning I woke up and there were 4 deer walking past my tent it was so cool.I cannot download the pics for some reason if you would like to see them E-Mail me at tufftom4@hotmail.com and I will send them. TOM
  7. I did Beartooth pass in 2000 from sturgis going to Glacier Nat Park it was awsome. At the bottom it was near 100 degrees and at the top we were throwing snowballs, it is a great bike ride.
  8. Last Labor day week I rode down from Mass to Fl via Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge Parkway had the best weather and camped out every night I have pics if you would like to see them. I want to go back this Labor Day week it is a great ride saw lots of deer and wild turkeys.

  10. I did my first Boby Flay smoked beef brisket and it came out awsome the link to the recipie is here. http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/bobby-flay/smoked-bbq-brisket-recipe/index.html I used regular chilli powder instead of ancho and for the beer mop I used a Vidalia instead of a red onion and instead of serrano peppers I used a big cubanella I tried to cut the heat a little and it worked awsome it was the best brisket I ever smoked it was a 6 1/2 lb and came out great but the best recipie I got this weekend was from my dad for how to make an omlet and it works perfect I made 2 with mushrooms asparagus chedder cheese and red onion this is the best for camping you gotta try it. Great Idea !! http://by108w.bay108.mail.live.com/mail/SafeRedirect.aspx?hm__tg=http://65.54.162.249/att/GetAttachment.aspx&hm__qs=file%3d3651cad1-db7a-4dd7-b0c0-a8be87f13d33.jpg%26ct%3daW1hZ2UvanBlZw_3d_3d%26name%3dQVRUMS5qcGc_3d%26inline%3d1%26rfc%3d0%26empty%3dFalse%26imgsrc%3dcid%253a708802579E2C488D98F5045A93A667C2%2540pegPC&oneredir=1&ip=10.1.106.206&d=d2332&mf=0&a=01_3c9c4a6dab01c4708d59f61af83d2164934990c2978871b8d9f6df62b9a21160 ZIPLOC OMELET (This works great !!! Good for when all your family is together. The best part is that no one has to wait for their special omelet !!!) Have guests write their name on a quart-size Ziploc freezer bag with permanent marker. Crack 2 eggs (large or extra-large) into the bag (not more than 2) shake to combine them. Put out a variety of ingredients such as: cheeses, ham, onion, green pepper, tomato, hash browns, salsa, etc. Each guest adds prepared ingredients of choice to their bag and shake. Make sure to get the air out of the bag and zip it up. Place the bags into rolling, boiling water for exactly 13 minutes [we did 15 minutes]. You can usually cook 6-8 omelets in a large pot. For more, make another pot of boiling water. Open the bags and the omelet will roll out easily. Be prepared for everyone to be amazed. Nice to serve with fresh fruit and coffee cake; everyone gets involved in the process and a great conversation piece. http://by108w.bay108.mail.live.com/mail/SafeRedirect.aspx?hm__tg=http://65.54.162.249/att/GetAttachment.aspx&hm__qs=file%3d80e9e911-d38b-4994-95fe-9ce4a8b8ddda.jpg%26ct%3daW1hZ2UvanBlZw_3d_3d%26name%3dQVRUMi5qcGc_3d%26inline%3d1%26rfc%3d0%26empty%3dFalse%26imgsrc%3dcid%253a53F2D598087F499DB982AF48CFB43FBF%2540pegPC&oneredir=1&ip=10.1.106.206&d=d2332&mf=0&a=01_3c9c4a6dab01c4708d59f61af83d2164934990c2978871b8d9f6df62b9a21160 http://by108w.bay108.mail.live.com/mail/SafeRedirect.aspx?hm__tg=http://65.54.162.249/att/GetAttachment.aspx&hm__qs=file%3dd9fc0d11-eddf-451d-ad43-1841287183a5.jpg%26ct%3daW1hZ2UvanBlZw_3d_3d%26name%3dQVRUMy5qcGc_3d%26inline%3d1%26rfc%3d0%26empty%3dFalse%26imgsrc%3dcid%253aBBE7C90161A64699AFCA097969D56481%2540pegPC&oneredir=1&ip=10.1.106.206&d=d2332&mf=0&a=01_3c9c4a6dab01c4708d59f61af83d2164934990c2978871b8d9f6df62b9a21160 http://by108w.bay108.mail.live.com/mail/SafeRedirect.aspx?hm__tg=http://65.54.162.249/att/GetAttachment.aspx&hm__qs=file%3d7b23e0f8-0b36-40f6-9537-4a9a9d3b1375.jpg%26ct%3daW1hZ2UvanBlZw_3d_3d%26name%3dQVRUNC5qcGc_3d%26inline%3d1%26rfc%3d0%26empty%3dFalse%26imgsrc%3dcid%253a306D5A2E670F46F687F669F71001743D%2540pegPC&oneredir=1&ip=10.1.106.206&d=d2332&mf=0&a=01_3c9c4a6dab01c4708d59f61af83d2164934990c2978871b8d9f6df62b9a21160 http://by108w.bay108.mail.live.com/mail/SafeRedirect.aspx?hm__tg=http://65.54.162.249/att/GetAttachment.aspx&hm__qs=file%3dd31e4386-bad9-438f-b85b-46b465248185.jpg%26ct%3daW1hZ2UvanBlZw_3d_3d%26name%3dQVRUNS5qcGc_3d%26inline%3d1%26rfc%3d0%26empty%3dFalse%26imgsrc%3dcid%253a56775FCD0C474599BD9A74EA18357074%2540pegPC&oneredir=1&ip=10.1.106.206&d=d2332&mf=0&a=01_3c9c4a6dab01c4708d59f61af83d2164934990c2978871b8d9f6df62b9a21160 Imagine having these ready the night before, and putting the bag in boiling water while you get ready. And in 15 minutes, you've got a nice omelette for a quick breakfast!!! http://by108w.bay108.mail.live.com/mail/SafeRedirect.aspx?hm__tg=http://65.54.162.249/att/GetAttachment.aspx&hm__qs=file%3d993a92d7-373b-4b84-907b-e0fbdf8c5c89.GIF%26ct%3daW1hZ2UvZ2lm%26name%3dRVhUUkFTfjEuR0lG%26inline%3d1%26rfc%3d0%26empty%3dFalse%26imgsrc%3dcid%253aD9E1C424EB1045C7B354C2385117F0CA%2540pegPC&oneredir=1&ip=10.1.106.206&d=d2332&mf=0&a=01_3c9c4a6dab01c4708d59f61af83d2164934990c2978871b8d9f6df62b9a21160
  11. Ok since I had my shoulder injury I have had a lot of time on my hands wich is bad for a guy but I love to cook. I have not used my smoker in a while and was looking for something new to smoke and came upon this from Bobby Flay http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/bobby-flay/smoked-bbq-brisket-recipe/index.html I have a 6 1/2 lb brisket in the fridge right now with the dry rub on it and tomorow I will smoke it. If it comes out good we will have to do a meet and eat. It seems a little spicy to some people but not to me I like it when it burns coming out.I could not for the life of me find ancho chilli powder so I just used chilli powder if I die from over sweating it was good... TOM:thumbsup2:
  12. Well I got my MRI results back today and I didn't tear anything in my shoulder I streched the tendons and they are swollen. I also have fluid buildup from the swelling so they gave me 2 cortizone shots and hopefully I will be riding soon. TOM
  13. Well I go for my MRI today to see if I need surgery on my right shoulder I think my summer riding is over.I pray that I will be able to ride back to the Blue Ridge Parkway Labor day week.
  14. I won't be able to make it now. I dislocated my right shoulder and the dr says I tore my rotator cuff but won't know for sure until he gets the MRI wich they are trying to schedule for moday or tuesday so for a 2 and a half hour ride there and back is a little out of the ? but my bike is clean and shiny.
  15. Ok I just washed the bike and put seeitshine on it now if the weather holds I am on a ride up north for the m&e.
  16. I will try to make evry effort to ride up there from Fort Pierce now that my Dad is back home for the summer I will have my Sundays free. I didn't get to go to bike week this year because I am in the process of buying a house so I look forward to going. Tom
  17. I am looking for a set of 84 VR front rotors mine are cracked but work. TOM
  18. I buy Iridium plugs for all my bikes and the maufacturer say specificly not to gap them as they may break because they are brittle they should come pre gapped. Tom
  19. On my 85 Sabre I always had Dunlop Elites and I was very satisfied with them now with my 84 VR I use Me880's I put new ones on in Aug 08 in Mass and rode to Fla via Skyline Drive and the Blue Ridge Parkway and almost everyday to and from work.I currently have almost 6000 miles on them and still have about 75% left I am extremly happy with them.I may try the Elite II next time to compare.

    Need a part

If the clutch and brake levers are the same I have never checked to see if they are I have a spare brake lever you can have from an 84. Tom
  21. In 2000 I did a nice ride to Sturgis,Yellowstone and Glacier and we camped out everyday the only thing we had to worry about were the Beer Bears that came when you slept and stole all the beer. Tom
  22. I have a nice 84 VR with only 33000 original miles that I have taken from mass to Florida via Skyline Drive and the BlueRidge parkway and it has a nice quiet exhaust exept it keeps coming loose. I found someone selling an original Yamaha replacement slip on mufflers for the VR and Vmax that were used and he said they were rich in sound and had a nice rumble. Well they work AWSOME but I can no longer listen to my radio but my water temp is alot cooler and the pickup is awsome. This without rejetting I love the sound and accelleration but I don't know if the people next to me will like me. I have had many bikes and this is the first that an exhaust has made a big difference. So should I put the old ones on and keep peace or ride like hell. TOM
  23. I have never been on a ride camping with 2 people on a bike but have been many miles and weeks on end motorcycle camping and it all depends on the person and what they need to camp with. I tend to camp with alot for 1 person and never used anything but my bike. Here is my last trip down the Blue Ridge Parkway and I always camp out on every trip I am not a wuus and do the motel or trailer my bike.
  24. In 2000 myself and 2 friends went to Sturgis via Canada from Mass then we went to Yellowstone and upon leaving I was in the lead and took a wrong turn and happened over Beartooth Hwy my friends still joke to me that that was the best wrong turn I ever made it was around 100 degrees at the bottom and we were throwing snowballs at the top.I hope to someday go back it is awsome. TOM:parrots:
