  1. OK I did as you said wired up the lights put a new connector on the trailer but did not go to led just used the ones that came with the trailer, all the lights work great no blown fuses and the little box fit perfectly with the air system. I bought an aftermarket high output rectifier but I do not have the tools to fab up a bracket, anyone have any ideas to make it easy ? THANK YOU FOR ALL THE HELP. Tom
  2. One more thing the trailer has regular bulb lights would it be better to buy led lights to put on ?
  3. Thank you I will let you know how bad I mess it up.
  4. OK thanks but where do I spice the wires? is it under the seat or somewhere else? I just bought a new high output rectifier since I was having problems with my original.
  5. I just found this plug that came with the hitch it has 3 wires in 2 out then a white and brown wire. If this will work let me know I can tear an engine apart and rebuild it but electrical is not my specialty. The pigtail supposedly came from an 83 VR.
  6. It is a basic 4 pin flat connector that I hooked up to my trucks plug and everything worked fine as to bulbs I have not taken the lights apart to check the filaments.
  7. OK now I have the trailer hitch on and the trailer ready to go is there a plug and play trailer connector for the 84 VR like the goldwing or do I have to splice the wires ? I have been searching the tech library but could not find anything. Tom
  8. OK I figured out how to post the pics this is the final product everything seems great I jumped on the hitch and brought the front tire off the ground ( fat bastard here ) I put new tires rims and valve stems on the trailer the only thing left is to wire the lights when I was working on it I put my glasses on the seat of the bike and did not notice the wind blew them off so when I went around the bike I stepped on them and cannot ride without them story of my life. If someone can walk me through the wiring process it would be helpfull.
  9. they are the same size pics I put in my thread nothing has changed.
  10. I do not know who to contact but I have been trying to download pics to update my thread and it keeps failing I have tried different computers and sending the pics to different places but it keeps saying the upload failed and I have put pics on my thread before.
  11. I figured it out and where the welded nuts were missing I drilled out the holes for 3/8th's stainless when I get it all together for the ride I will take pics.Wow looking at the pic my garage needs to be cleaned.
  12. OK after many hours of sweating and swearing I figured it out, When I bought the trailer hitch it was all apart and a markland. I sat there for a while and figured that the bottom hooked to where the mufflers bolted to the frame and I was right but I could not in the life of me figure where the top brackets went and I had leftover parts then....TADAAAAAAAAAAA A light went on in my little head they were hanging brackets for the hitch, now I am headed to the hardware store to get all new stainless hardware, I don't know if anyone here ever saw this type of hitch but if anyone comes across it again I can tell them how to hook it up.
  13. I have a trailer hitch used that I bought for my 84 venture the guy said it came off of an 83 but I can't get anything to line up plus I have no clue where it is supposed to mount,I don't know if it is the wrong one or I am trying to mount it wrong if someone has a first gen venture with a trailer hitch please call Tom @ 772 260-5431 and let me know what I am doing wrong.
  14. All the people here had great ideas but I ended up at walmart to go shopping and found a percolate pot plus a nice seasoning cart and a toaster the only thing is anyone gonna come visit me the end of sept. Plus I put new tires rims and valve stems on the trailer. I am so looking forward to get out of dodge.
  15. I love my coffee and buy my own beans and grind them, when I go on my bike trip the end of Sept I will be camping every night and was just wondering if anyone has any ideas about a camping coffee pot. When I was younger I had a percolator but I know things must have evolved since then.
  16. I am not going here, this guy has no idea what oil change means it is not so much about the oil but the filter can only catch so much and if he only changes his oil every 8,000 miles I don't want his bike.
  17. I am planning my ride to the Smokey Mnts Sept 24th from Fl and found that if you camp in any Ga state park Sept 25th it is free. I am planning to camp here on the 24th http://www.gastateparks.org/GeorgeLSmith then here on the 25th just below the mnt's to take advantage of the free camping http://www.gastateparks.org/BlackRockMountain I got my new tires for the trailer and can't wait to hit the road and hopefully meet some more Venture riders.
  18. How can you not love that face, may you have many years of great companionship.
  19. In 2000 we went out to Sturgis and went to Yellowstone but most of it was on fire, you must see Mt Rushmore I didn't think I would be interested in it but I was amazed. Glacier National Park was my favorite but when you leave Yellowstone you have to ride Beartooth pass it has to be my all time favorite ride you will not be disappointed.
  20. If you do Mt Washington you have to drive across the Kancamagus hwy it's awsome. http://www.byways.org/explore/byways/2458/
  21. I just picked up this trailer for my bike it is in good condition but needs tire I thought what the heck for 200$ all the lights work. Now if I can get someone to help get the trailer hitch on the bike...
  22. yes the parts in the pic are only for the one side I have the other parts for the other side.
  23. I bought a trailer hitch on e-bay and it came taken apart now I have no clue how it goes on, I am no dummy and very mechanical inclined but this has me stumped as to where the sliding cinch clamps go.
  24. I wish I could just dry them out I tried everything including wd-40, the cordless just fried and the router was a soft start computer controlled that did not like the water and it will cost more to fix than buy a used one.
  25. I live in Fl so my washer and dryer are in my garage the other day I received a call from the sheriffs dept that water was coming out of my house, I got off work early and rushed home to find the hot water side of the washing machine hose split and sprayed water all throughout half the garage it tripped out the hot water heater and dryer plus all the outlets and had Sheetrock falling from the ceiling and walls. I was able to save the table saw and 1 router but lost my porter cable soft start router and dewalt cordless drill, so if you have a washer you do not shut the water off to I recommend buying the stainless braided hoses unless you want to spend money like me.
