Front brake lever switch
tufftom4 posted a topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I can't seem to find anyone who carries the front brake lever switch anymore, does anyone know where I can find 1 for my 86 VR. Tom -

There should be a bolt on each side under the passenger seat that come out then you can remove the seat. -
OK I took the oil filter housing off and stripped the bolt but the chunk I took out of the bottom of the engine wasn't deep enough to cause the oil leak, the housing was just jared cockeyed I put a new o-ring in and it is fine so now it is just a matter of getting it road worthy. That is a big relief for me.

Sunday morning I will drain the oil and take the oil filter housing off and see how bad it is.I just changed the oil with Amsoil so this is already getting expensive.

It is not the filter housing that broke it was the 2 pointy ears on the block that broke.

Oh ya oil is leaking out.

I was loading my 86VR on the motorcycle trailer and did not notice the front of it was to low to the ground which made a hump where the ramp meets the trailer and when I was riding the bike up the bottom of the oil filter housing on the engine caught it and took a chunk out of it. I will have to wait till I have a day off to drain the oil again and see how bad it is. I hope I did not ruin the block. Tom

A little while back my funds were running out and Randy Atkins found a bike for me in TN that needed work but was very reasonable.I bought the bike with the help of Randy and had it shipped down here. I couldn't work on it at first because I am still recovering and the holidays were here but lately I have been able to start doing things to it as you can see in the first pic it needed a right fairing and other things done.I have since replaced the fairing and plastic to the class and CB, changed the oil to Amsoil, flushed the brakes and clutch, replaced the headlight and I have both front and back tires mounted and balanced ready to go on, I had them for my other bike.It still needs more work but it is getting there.I have managed to make a mess in my driveway. My cheap charcoal bullet smoker rusted out so I have been doing a lot of research on small smokers, at first I wanted a gas smoker but after talking to people and reading reviews I decided on an electric smoker because I did not want the hassle of charcoal even though I love the taste. I bought an insulated Masterbuilt with a digital control board and seasoned it the other night. I got up at 4am today to take my Brisket out of the fridge after marinating it overnight with a layer of mustard and a dry rub and I am going to smoke it for 9 hrs and mop it every hour. I will let everyone know how an electric smoker works and if it is worth it.
