LIke the tall stock windshield in the colder months but with the stock windshield hight I am 6'3" and when the shield fogs I struggle to see how do you deal with that with a taller shield? I keep thinking of cutting it down never thought about how it would effect my wife. She hates the freeway speeds so it may not.

My First Venture
MidlifeVenture replied to YamahaWoodsey's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Quite like sailing my other passion it is about the enjoyment and comfort not the speed once we are on our bikes we are all ready where we need to be and do not need a destination to get off of it to enjoy. -

1981 GL1100 was my very first street bike traded here in for the Venture. Signed the papers the saturday before the banks crashed in 2008 wish I would have just kept it then. But now only 8 months and the Venture is mine free and clear there were some rough times in there when the Venture was close to the chopping block and if I still had the wing it would have went.

I sprayed the entire emblem gold then brushed the black and used a tooth pick and a sharp pokey thing to dab paint in tight places then sprayed clear coat.
-
On my wing I used spray gold chrome paint then black model paint then clear coat took some time and a fine brush

We have gone through boxes of stuff like that at my wife's mom and what you find it is only valuable if you want to take the time to find the person who wants it. And we have pretty much given up all the shops want them for nothing if you go ebay or other site then the spam, email it became a larger pain than it was worth.

Brake pad Thickness
MidlifeVenture replied to MidlifeVenture's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
They have 11700 miles on them the manual shows you can run them down to the bottom of the groove I was looking for opinions. Next on the list mounting some RoadKing mufflers have to find a pipe stretcher need to open them up about .03 in then comes new brake and clutch fluid. Thanks for the help Scott -
How thick are new pads just put new rubber on now looking at brakes. Seems like there is some pad left to me but just making sure.

My most memorable christmas was 2005 the year I got my first motorcycle. I was out waiting to meet my wife at Sams Club. And while waiting I wondered into a bike dealer he had 2 Goldwings a 81, and a 82. Later that evening I told my wife about them an how I was interested in the 81. I got the motorcycle are you crazy and yea right. Well I was still interested I was going to a Harley dealer for lunch with a friend and I drug him in to look at the bike and give me his thoughts on the bike but when we got there there was a sold sign on her. My heart broke and we left. On Christmas my wife's gift to me was a picture of the bike she told me we could go get it on the next day. If I would have looked at the tag when I was there my name was on the tag and would have spoiled my Christmas like most years.

And just a note trailers have trailer tires that are only rated for 65 mph if you push them they will blow especially with the extreme heats this year. Found out first hand this year with my pop up
