Well the pictures are in the camera and I should be able to get my computer out of the shop in the next couple of days to download. My computer I'm on now is my work computer and I have to have admin rights to download the pictures to it and since I don't have admin rights the pics are still in the camera. Dang it!

Well I want to thank all my friends here who kept my son in their thoughts and wished him good luck in his Mr. Universe competition. We just got back from Barbados where my son Josh won first place in the middle weight amateur INBF Mr. Universe competition. Josh also won the overall competition which judged the winner of each weight class for the overall winner. The winner of the overall competition receives his pro card. Each contestant has to pass a polygraph test and the winner has to pass a drug test to prove they are clean of drugs and steroids. So I am the proud father of the 2010 INBF Mr. Universe winner.

Well they say that bad things happen in 3's. So it should be smooth sailing for you from here on out. You would be surprised at how many people think that when a light malfunctions (they think it malfunctions but flashes red and yellow by design) that everyone must stop. I have argued until I'm blue in the face that if they wanted everyone to stop it would be flashing red all the way around. Flashing yellow means proceed with caution, flashing red means stop and proceed when clear. Glad your all right.

First welcome. I disagree with the manager that says a 650 is two small. I don't know how large your husband is but I am 5'11" and 210 lbs and I had a 650 and it was plenty big enough and would cruise all day long at 85 mph. Now saying that I agree with the manager that the 950 who be a better bike for your husband especially if you are going to ride 2 up. I love the Venture and highly recommend it but for a first bike it would be way to much bike for your husband. I know the three dealers you are talking about we were just at the Yamaha only dealer last weekend. The inventory is pretty low unless you want a crotch rocket. They did have a beautiful black Stratoliner Deluxe. The great thing about the Strat is it has an aluminum frame. Sitting on them they have such a low center of gravity feeling about them. The only problem is they have 100 hp. I'm not sure you need that much hp for a first bike. I know several people though who have the 950 and they all love them.

Looks really nice but I'm not sure I want to tackle a job that tough. If you had to take 3 breaks in 2 hours that must have really been a hard job. I have to pace myself, I'm retires.

What a deal you can have one for under $1000. Prices start at less than $1000! I have a problem paying more than $125 for a windshield. I bet every scratch on your windshield will illuminate along with the etched design. But perdy though.

It looks like you are on the same track as I am. I think that not only the viscosity but also the manufacturer of the oil. I just put Rotella synthetic 5w-40 in and the whine got a lot better. I noticed the whine after I switched from the Yamalube to another dino oil of a different viscosity. I switched to Rotella synthetic and a big improvement. The last Time I bought the Rotella I noticed Rotella is now made in a blend 10w-30 which is the weight that my owners manual ask for. So next oil change I'm trying the Rotella 10w-30 blend and see what happens.

A four-legged member of my family was killed last week...

I agree 100%. I love animals, dogs, cats, turtles, etc... it doesn't matter what kind of animal it is. The fact is pit bulls should be bred out of existence. They were bred as a fighting dog and I do not know why anyone would want one. There are so many other breeds that are not as aggressive. Yes you can train any dog to be aggressive and mean but you have to try and train a pit not to be aggressive and mean. And yes it is the owners fault for not keeping the pit under control but I'm sure that owner thought their pit bull was harmless and well trained. Not going to happen with a pit bull. Everyone knows this and that is why a pit bull is on so many city and state list of aggressive breeds. I am very sorry for your loss. It did not have to happen. -

I have a Yamaha shorty ( the shortest one Yamaha offers) which looks good and is fine for city or country driving where you stay below 50 mph. This is 1 up. I have a Slipstreamer 13" windshield which is perfect for me even at 80 on the interstate. No buffeting at all and I can see over it if I sit up straight. It is not a wide windshield. Again this is 1 up. Sorry can't offer any advise on 2 up.

Assuming your tire guage is correct then your over inflating the rear tire. The max tire rating is 40 lbs. Hop accurate is your air guage? No telling. I run 1 up all the time and I run 38 front and 38 rear. A friend put a 404 on his bike and had a blow out with a little over 5k miles on it. Cord was showing all the way around. I run E3's and Commanders and am very happy with both. However I do prefer the e3's. I have about 13,000 on me E3's and it looks Like I can go at least anouther 4 or 5 thousand.

Way to go! I looked at a GW and all the buttons scared me off. I figured I would accidentally turn on the coffee maker when I was trying to turn on the toaster.:rotfl:

Well inspired by Sylvester I decided to get some pillow top seats for my MM. I just went to the auto parts store and picked up some can spray paint that was close in color to the stock MM seats. The color is a little lighter but not much. If I had it to do over again I would take Sylvester's advise and have the color I want made up at a auto paint supplier and I would use a spray gun. It would probably be cheaper. The stuff I used was made to cover plastic and auto seat vinyls. It coats it well but you need to make sure that the vinyl is clean. I don't know how well this stuff will work over time but for now it seems to stick pretty well and is very pliable. I like the pillow top seat very well and this is an effort to put them on my MM. If this doesn't hold up well then I'll bite the bullet and find a reputable upholstery shop around here and have them recovered. Anyway here are a few pic's of my MM.

I for one needed no name mentioned. I have not mentioned his name but have been very, very disappointed in his results. I can not comment on the quality of his work because I have not received my order. He is a supper nice guy to talk to over the phone if and when he answers it. His emails are polite and apologetic when you can get him to answer his emails. As for his character??? He has not done one thing he has told me he would bo. Now we are not in grade school we are adults. So when we had an agreement I took that as a promise even though he did not say "I promise". So to me even though he seems to be a nice person he is not a man of his word. I will probably be down there next month in small claims court trying to get my money back.

I can't answer your question but I can tell you about my experience. I have a 2001 with a whine. Not bad bad it whines. It doesn't seem to whine as bad if I'm in 5th gear under 60mph. 65 mph in 5th is where it starts whining. About 75 mph in 5th is where it starts quieting down. 4th gear starts whining about 60 mph. So I have been riding in 5th anywhere from 35 to 60mph just to get rid of the whine. Before I did this I was riding in the normal rpm range and normal gear range (4th gear at 60mph) and I was getting 42 to 43 mpg. Noe that I am riding in 5th most of the time I ham getting 37 to 38 mpg. Hope this helps?

"I" basket and back to Dino!
YamaDuck replied to Shipper's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
All I have to do to get rid of my whine is get on my MM. My 2001 whines like a baby. You know how at first the baby crying doesn't bother you. You just go over and check on him/her. Then after a while and you can't figure out what the babies crying about the crying starts to get on your nerves. Well the same thing with my 2001. Not bad but the longer it goes the more it gets on your nerves. I don't know what basket a 2001 has and it is not bad enough to fork out the money for an "I" basket since there is no guarantee it will eliminate the whine. But if either of you want to get rid of the "G" or "H" basket for a real reasonable price then I'm your man. Just let me know. -
Since Dec. 2, 2009! I am keeping after him. It does no good. One excuse after another. One broken promise after another. I sent him an email today and of course he has not answered. Last time I called him he did not answer but he did finally answer my email.

At least you got yours! I'm still waiting.

How accurate is any guage? If your showing 40lbs you could be running 45 or 35. Unless you check with at least two or three guages and unless they all read the same which one is accurate? Do you take an average? I just buy a good tire pressure guage and assume it is right.
-
Oh I forgot to ask. How was the quality? You put pressure on him so did you notice any problems with the quality? I'm putting so much pressure on him I'm worried about the quality. I keep giving him an out though just send me my parts and money back.
-
I'm sure it is the same guy. He talked me into a big custom order and said I needed to send him the money up front so he could buy the kangaroo leather. His ebay feedback looked good and he was a VentureRider vendor so I felt safe. I mailed the parts and PayPalled him the money Dec. 2, 2009.
-
Now that's an idea I haven't thought of! Just in case it gets real nasty.
-
Well unfortunately I'm into this guy a lot more than $500. I sent him more than double that amount and my parts. He sells things on ebay and he is a featured vendor here. His ebay rating was 100% when I sent him the parts. Since I sent him the parts and cash his feedback rating has fallen into the low 90's wit a couple complaints about slow turn a round times. Just goes to show that being a listed vendor here and a 100% ebay rating does not mean a thing. At first he told me that the leather came in messed up and he had to send it back. He used that twice. I finally got it out of him that the leather came in a was good. Now what's the holdup. I told him I wanted my money back and he tells me he can not return the leather. Not my problem but ok I'm still willing to work with you. I ask him how much time do you need? He says three weeks but he may be able to get it out in two (yea right). So I gave him until May 29 which is a little over three weeks. We will see waht happens but I think I will be heading to Fla.
