Alright somebody had to do it so I did it. I bought the Venom Snake Eye for $35 including shipping and I bought the China version that appears to look just like it and paid $13 including shipping and $22.60 with a 4 gig micro card off Ebay. First they are not the same camera even though the pictures look the same. The Venom is made in China and sold in the US. Second the Venom is much heavier and feels much higher quality if you know what I mean. Third the Venoms buttons seem to me to be better quality not to mention you get more accessories. IMHO I would buy the Venom for the extra $10. !SaleaDay sells on Ebay and you can get them down to $33 including shipping. As far as how long the charge battery last between charges I have not tested. But if this Chinese version is like the cheap MP3's you can get then my bet is the Venom will last longer before needing charged. They both seem to take real good video though.

Shipping to the US was reasonable about $19. I don't know why it is so expensive to ship to Canada but it is.

Sounds great. Always nice to have a dealer with great customer service. However I would still shop around because there are dealers out there that give everyone discounts without putting special codes in the comment section or having to talk to a specific person to place the order. As an example, Saddlebag graurd rails for a Venture; Pioneer Motorsports price after discount applied and talking to Chad, $181.86, South Seattle everyday to everyone price, $160.46. Don't get me wrong I'm glad to have such a great customer service company on our side but just check around.

I've got several. I took one on my trip out west last year. When I started out I could barely strech it over all my junk. By the time I got home I could strech it almost over the entire bike. Threw it away and got two more.

Getting a first bike soon and need a gear checklist!
YamaDuck replied to GAWildKat's topic in Watering Hole
I have a leather coat and a mesh jacket. I wear the mesh jacket almost exclusively. Now saying that the leather jacket affords the most protection in a slide but is the hottest to wear. It is nice on cold days. Now living in Macon you probably don't get a lot of really cold days. The mesh jacket has removable pads and a removable liner and has plenty of zippers for air flow. It is a lot more versatile and not as heavy to wear. It still gets hot in the summer because it is black even if I take the liner out and open the zippers to get more air flow. For the pants I wear leather chaps. The are warm in the winter and the are warm in the summer. So I usually don't wear them in the summer. I can not comment on the kevlar padded pants. You will need a tool kit. The bike probably comes with a tool kit but you need to add American Standard tools to the metric if you have any add on's that take American Standard sizes. You may want to had a tire repair kit and an air pump. You may want to add a few extra fuses on top of the few that are in the fuse box. You can take a can of windshield cleaner also so you can clean the bugs off the windshield. -
Well you're right it does work with Windows 7. I don't know why it told me it wasn't compatible before. I just plugged it in again and it worked fine. I just tried it out in the house with the room lights on and it worked great.
-
I'm not sure how to do that. It doesn't come with a cd to download the drivers the drivers automatically download when you plug the camera into the USB drive.
-
Got mine yesterday. Tried it out today only to find out it doesn't work with Windows 7. ^%&%! Does anyone know the company website so I can see if they have an updated driver.

You might want to look for a new attorney. Your attorney should have told you that you can demand a statement from the at faults insurance company and ask for the insurance limits. You have to demand it in writing and you will get an answer in writing. You don't have to guess. I know since I was told that and I wrote Allstate a letter and they let me know the at fault party in my accident had $50K. As for going through your insurance company for the repair you might have to do that if the at fault party doesn't have enough insurance but the bad part of that is that it goes as a claim against your insurance. Sad but true. That is where your no fault insurance comes into play. If the at fault party is under insured your no fault insurance picks up the rest. It is a lot quicker to go through your insurance and they have a vested interest in keeping you happy where the at faults insurance company could care less if you are satisfied.

I think when you are dealing with insurance companies you are going to be unhappy with all of them. Obviously Yammer Dan must have had a bad experience with Dairyland. I have had bad experiences with GIECO and ALLSTATE. A guy pulled out right in front of me and I T-Boned him. He had Allstate. It took Allstate more than a month just to look at my bike. It took two years to collect from Allstate. I was with Gieco for 14 years. My son had an accident and they jacked up the rate. I looked around and saved $1200 every six months on our car insurance even with the accident by switching to someone else. Gieco called and wanted to know why I changed insurance companies after 14 years. I told them I would stay with them but they would have to match the other rate. Gieco said goodbye. Gieco and Progressive advertise more than any other insurance companies. Who do you think is paying for their advertising?

I've been told the same thing here in Georgia by the insurance company. You can get it taken care of faster going through your insurance company but it goes against your record. I even asked if I did let my insurance company take care of it and then get their money from the at faults company if my premium would go up and the answer was probably not it all depends. So I decided to go the slow route and just deal with the other guys insurance.

Does it hurt very much clamped to your right nostril like that?

Progressive quoted me $946 per year for full coverage on two Ventures a 2000MM and a 2001 and that is with a $1000 deductible for collision and a $250 comp. deductible. Eddie Hall ediddy here on VentureRiders got me full coverage for both bikes with a $250 collision deductible and a $100 comp. deductible with $5000 accessory coverage versus $3000 for Progressive and Road Side Assistance included with none for Progressive for $348 per year (for both). A no brainer for me. Eddie got my son's insurance for $120 per year versus $207 for Progressive and it includes both of us as riders not just my son as Progressive did. It is through Dairyland.

I have not noticed any change. In fact with my home computor IE8 seems to be slower than normal. It kind of hangs and you have to wait for it to get through. I think it all depends on the particular computer. I'm on a work computer right now and they both seem fine. My home computer uses Windows 7 maybe that is the problem.

Don't blame it on me. I got back from a cruise Sat. the 11th and I had a bad cold. Now everyone in my house has a bad cold. You live way to far away to catch any of my germs.

I already have another brand but for the price you can't go wrong...Thanks!

I have not heard anything bad about the 404's. From the complaints I've heard mostly is the mileage you get from them (or lack of). I have seen post where a few people get 12 - 16k out of the rear tire and if you want WW's that's good. A lot of people don't get that kind of mileage out of them though. I don't know why people get so varying amounts of mileage out of the same time though. If you look at all the different tires out there though there seems to be wide margins in all the tires. The best advise I can give is put on a set. After the first set you will either love'm or hate'm. You have to evaluate the tires yourself.

You need to let us know the name of this gracious dealer so we can make sure we buy something from him if we need him to answer a question. After all I would be embarrassed to show up at his dealership and ask a question only to be told I need to buy something from him if I wanted an answer. As for being gently dropped I would do some more research into that. I have dropped mine 3 times and have never dented the tank. The engine guards get pushed back out of place though when you gently drop one of these bikes. Check the lower fairings for cracks or scrapes.

That's a tough question. Not knowing how long it last before a rebuild and the cost to rebuild a Works Performance it's all a matter of how you use the bike. If you are planning on pulling a trailer and occasional two up riding I would probably stick with the stock shock. If you do not need to make many ride adjustments once it's set up then maybe the Works Performance. The original shock is an air shock so it is easily adjusted for different load situations. However the stock shock is far from ideal I'm om my second one now. Maybe someone with a Works Performance shock will chime in and let us know the good and bad points about the Works Performance shock. I think the custom make them for your specific needs.

Thanks! Your right I knew it started with a "p" or a "w p".

Looks like a 2003 to me but could have after market paint. There are only two shocks that I am aware of for this bike. The stock shock and a Progressive shock. I have never owned a Progressive shock but from what I can tell the Progressive is more expensive but is rebuildable. I don't know how long it goes between rebuilds or how much it cost to rebuild it. The progressive is also not an air shock but I do think the ride is adjustable manually.

Throttle Sticking
YamaDuck replied to ToyOdie's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
This sounds like the return spring in the plastic box on the left side of the bike under the gas tank may either be missing, reinstalled wrong or be broken. Don't know if your throttle is hard to turn or turns easily but I understand it stays put and does not return. I would guess if the throttle is difficult to turn something is gumbed up but if the throttle does not take any extra effort to turn then I would check the spring in the box. Hope you figure it out.- 9 replies

Throttle Sticking
YamaDuck replied to ToyOdie's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Mine was sticking and I did all the lubing and still had a problem. There are two cables leading from the plastic box on the left side to the carb linkage. There are two nuts where the two cables connect to the linkage bracket. I adjusted the two nuts so that my throttle did not open to far as it did before and it cured my problem. You may want to check there. Sorry I don't know the proper names for the parts I'm trying to describe.- 9 replies

You got a good deal. We bought my son an 1982 Maxim 750 as a beginners bike. Great bike but big mistake. That thing will fly. It weighs next to nothing and Yamaha says it has 82 hp. If it is running right it will blow the doors off a Venture.
