I use the Zumo 550. Do yourself a favor and get one that is waterproof. You will be suprised when it will come in handy. I had two GPS units before the 550 and it really got to be a pain in the ... having to stop, remove the unit, store the unit, ride until it stopped raining, stop, retrieve the unit, install the unit, ride again until it started raining again well you see where this is going.

Anyone try it under the front cowling? I'm asking because both my wifes car and my truck work when they are in the garage with the door closed and you can't see the sky inside the garage. You can buy an indoor antenna for XM radios in the house. Curious minds want to know........

If they were honest and told you they were out of stock would you have spent your money with them? Probable not and they know it so in order to get your money ................It's easier to ask forgivness then to tell the truth. The way of the world today..........

I punched about 6 holes with an awl this morning after filling it up as much as I could. After wards I was able to put another 1/2 gallon or so of gas in. This pratice may be a bit difficult with some gas stations as there pumps pressure is not easy to control. I should be able to get another 20 miles out of a tank.

Bike kicked, brackets bent - what is with people today?
Pilot replied to cowpuc's topic in Watering Hole
Bored kids or adults with little to no respect for others and even less respect for there stuff. Unfortunately in todays age where you can go to jail for spanking your kids this is what we have to learn to live with. Now I never had to spank my kids but they never knew I wouldn’t and if I did I didn’t have to worry about the moral police turning me in. My father only had to teach me ONCE and I flew straight after that. -
OK just because I'm a bit thick at times and this is one of those times, just what is happening with the tank when you vent the filler neck ? A cross section of the tank just might explain this to me but I can't find one. I like pictures.... Curious minds want to know..........

Ken I test rode a 07 Ultra a few months ago when I was shopping for a new ride. It's a good thing you live in OH because here in TX the Ultra is a very hot ride when your in traffic. The salemen even told me it would be before I test rode it. Harley has had so many complaints on the amount of heat coming off the engine that they now can shut the rear cyl. down when the heat builds up (on 07 & 08's). Funny thing, the dealer said the first switch over was free but if I didn't like it there was a $150.00 charge to turn the rear cyl back on and visa versa. HD stands for Hundred Dollars, every time you want to do some thing it cost you at least $100.00. I bought a new 07 Venture instead. Have a good time with your new ride it's a nice bike.

Does it come with a cassette player?:rotf::rotf:I'm not interested if it doesn't come with one, I have to many cassettes now to be thinking of upgrading to some fancy new technology right now. You know how much it cost me to upgrade from 8-track to cassette?:mo money:

Our tax money at work!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just makes it harder for honest people to move around, it won't put a dent in the dishonest ones movements. They don't play by the rules.

I have a friend who had a Tom Tom One XL and he didn't like it very much for a bike. He bought a Zumu 550 about a month ago after he took a good look at mine. Lots of choices out there just look for one that is waterproof and you can see in the sun. I had both the Lowrance 250C & 350C and had visability problems with both and they are not waterproof so I had to stop and remove it when it rained. The Zumo is a good unit and you can get one for around $550.00 delivered, not the $1000.00 shown on some sites. Good luck with your choice and Merry Christmas.

It looks like this is a normal breakin function so I'm not going to be very concerned over it. I plan on changing the oil again at 1200 miles along with the oil and filter. I changed the final drive oil on my 03 every year as part of the spring maintenance thing and I will continue doing the same after the 1200 miles change on the 07. I had 73K miles on the 03 (bought it used with 9K miles on her) and I didn't see any metal on the magnet when I changed the oil so I will assume it will clean up in time. Oil is cheap insurance, thanks for you inputs.

I passed 600 miles a few days ago and changed the oil and filter today. Used Mobil 1 Clean 6000. The original Dino oil looked good and clean and I didn’t find much in the way of metal in it. The final drive oil was another matter. There was about half an inch of sludge that came out before the oil when I pulled the drain plug. There was a lot of metal on and around the magnet. This thing must have been sitting for 10 years. If you have a new RSV make sure you drain the final drive around 600 miles just to make your life a bit easier down the road. I plan on changing the oil and filter along with the final drive oil again at around 1200 miles just to be sure. I wonder if this is common with new bikes?

Look for a GPS unit that has an audio output jack, 3.5mm. Tie this output into your AUX input on your RSV. Two ways to do this, the simple way is to use your cassette AUX input, the second requires that you split the upper fairing and run a audio cable to the GPS unit and install a Y splitter in the fairing. The second has a more finished look to it. Some people have had problems with seeing the display or overheating issues with the Lowrance, I had both the 250 and 350 Lowrance units and I had seeing issues with both. I now have the Zumo 550 and I'm very happy.

I used a commercial heat gun and Goo Be Gone to remove the tank emblems, tank gas warning sticker and the Yamaha emblem on the trunk lid. It took about an hour to remove all these and the left over residue, what there was of it. Be careful with this type heat gun because it can get very hot. I put my hand next to the area I want to heat up and judge the temperature using me hand. If I want to move my hand then it’s hot enough. The 3M double sided tape used to attach the emblems just came loose after about 2 minutes of applied heat. The left over tape residue just came off with Goo Be Gone, no rubbing required. The secret with using Goo Be Gone is to cover the area with a clean rag, soak the rag with Goo Be Gone, let it sit for about 5 minutes and then use the wet rag to clean the area. After use a wet rag with a bit of soap, rinse it off, apply some wax and your good to go. At least that’s how I did mine. Ohh forgot that the hour was interrupted by 2 beers.

That was with the JC Whitney pipes.

Thanks Freebird for adding MPEG. My files were over 20M so I didn't upload them. However I figured out how to retreive just the sound off my video camera and convert them to mp3 files so I uploaded them. There are 4 files one starting, going away, drive by and returning.

I made 2 video files with sound of course but the site won't let me upload MPEG files so if you want to hear the pipes send me an email and I will mail them back to you.
