Saddlebag Side Rails not Top Rails
Pilot replied to dunvilsteev's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
When it comes time to install them try this link from Freebird to modify their mounting position. I did it on my 07 and it looks much better then using the original mounting position. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=6365&highlight=saddlebag+side+rail -
Same here Road Captain.

The equalizer is a good and inexpensive solution, this idea is just something I'm playing with because I'm retired and I got bored.

The unit is not in it's final package yet so pictures would only show you the circuit board and wires comming from the bike to my work bench. I am also thinking of building the units myself. If I did I think the price would be around $80.00 but the final package would not look professional, but then you won't be able to see it anyway. I'm also looking at other locations for mounting. I'm just in the preliminary stage at the moment. I'm thinking it would take me about a day to build one so people would have to order one and wait to get it and if I was overwhelmed with orders this wait might be long. Lots of problems to think about. The company I am in touch uses only handcapped people and I like that.

I have been toying with building a 40 watt stereo amplifier (2x20 watts) that uses the bikes fader control to control the amplitude (output) of and converts the rear speakers from mono to stereo on the RSV. Actually I have built the unit and I’m happy with the results so far but I may try and reduce the size of the unit. All the bikes electronics remain intact and work as advertised; this unit only provides contollable stereo output to the rear speakers using the bikes fader control. If you turn the volume up on the rear speakers using the fader control on the bike you increase the amplitude of the rear speakers and visa versa. The base and treble control on the bike will control the base and treble on the front and rear speakers. The unit will fit behind the access panel of the trunk, which is located behind the passenger seat. You have to tap the front speakers and run wire to this location. If you don’t have volume on the front speakers you won’t have volume in the rear. The big problem was to build the circuit so you could not overload the input by turning up the front volume. You also have to run power and ground from a switched feed for power to this location. You can use the stock speakers because the power output is only about 11 watts actual per channel and the stock speakers are 14 watts. I can increase the output of the unit to about 100 watts per channel and still keep the size down so it will fit, but if I did this you would need to upgrade the rear speakers. I have been in contact with a company that will build the component and enclose it in a watertight enclosure but the price is a bit high I think. In order to get the price down to what I consider reasonable I will need to order 1000 of them. At present I am trying to get the price down to $130 to $150 delivered in the states. I don’t know that I can do that and keep the quality of the unit up. At present the unit would sell for about $180.00 plus shipping. So before I continue searching for a manufacture that will give me a better price I want to get an idea of how many people would like one. Also what do you think of the price? Thanks for you inquiries and input.

You get more energy out of converting sugar beets then corn (around 4 times the energy). You can grow 2 or 3 crops of sugar beets a year which makes it more profitable for the farmer. Beside there will be an uprising when we can’t get our corn on the cob fix in the fall. Take a look at other country’s that have been on bio fuel ( no oil use) and you will see that it’s the way of the future. I for one would like to see only bio fuel so we can tell the sand bugs to blow their oil out their @%%. To say nothing of the environmental benefits. But like others have said, their is a LOT of money being made and those people really don't want to change and while the rich make the rules we won't.

You Northerers just need to go for a ride down south and pick it up. Better yet see if one of us Southerners will be nice and pick it up for you, meet you some where and hand it over. Of course the cost of lunch might offset the savings.

Jerry because my bike is new (07) I'm not sure if I will install an eqalizer or not, some dealers would have a problem with the warranty. For the time being I'm going to stick with the stock until I run into another member who has upgraded and I can hear for myself.

They are waterproof, but stay away from them they are crap.... Go with Pioneer or Polk, I had Pioneer TS-G1040R in my 03 and they sounded good but I would have to say they didn't sound any better then the stock. If you want better sound install an equalizer.

5 year warranty & transfer?
Pilot replied to jryan's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Got my 03 in Dec of 05 and didn't bring it to the dealer until around April, no problem. Some dealers will charge you and others won't, mine didn't. -
How large and deep is the crack? If it goes all the way through then you will need to reinforce it on the back side. I had about a 2 1/2 inch crack on the front cowling on my 03 and used plastex to repair it. I then brought it to a body shop and had it painted to match the existing paint. It cost me $150.00 to get it painted but they did a very good job. It’s almost impossible to get an exact match using the original paint because paint fades over time so going the body shop route will result in a better job. The body shop said that if they had to do the repair they would have charged an additional $75.00 so I saved about $60.00 doing the repair myself. If I had to do it again I would let the body shop do the whole thing since it took my over 4 hours to do it. I didn’t have the experience they have. Good luck with the repair.

$400 bucks............... I know during the day turn your mirrors so they face the rear of the bike, at night turn them to face the front of the bike. At night you don't need a mirror you can tell by the light that there's something behind you.:rotf::rotf:

I have heard that the scientific community is working on an ANTI-STUPIDITY pill, but it’s still a long way off. You can’t stop people, especially young people from doing stupid things. We all have done things that were stupid, some just happen to be lucky enough to survive them. I have often wondered how I lived this long.
