A few members have expressed a wish for a POI list of VR Assistance members so that they can download the list as a Point of Interest (POI) file onto their Zumo’s. I don’t know how many members use the Zumo or if the interest is great enough to warrant the work so I will need some feedback from you first. If the interest is high then I will proceed, if not I won’t bother with it. First let me say this will require a lot of hours to complete but I don’t mind doing it because I’m retired and it will give me something to do when the weather is bad. Second there are no GPS coordinates in the list. Without them you will have to search the list on the Zumo by country then state or province and then city/town. To make it so that the Zumo can search for the nearest assistance automatically members would have to provide me with their GPS coordinates, this would make searching on the Zumo automatic, and automatic is always nice. Third I don’t know how long it will take me so you may have to wait a bit for it. I expect that I should be able to get the first file ready for download in about a month. After that it won’t take much time to keep it updated. The file size should be small enough to download onto the site at first but I’m not sure of that as of this time. If the file should happen to reach the size limit I’m sure Freebird will help out with that. So to begin with I’m asking for people to let me know as to weather or not they are interested. I will make the determination weather or not to proceed when I see if the interest will warrant the work and let you know. To find your GPS coordinates download Google Earth. In the Fly To field (top left hand corner of Google Earth) type in you address and click on the magnifying glass. If it is a valid address it will go there. After it does on the bottom of the google earth window you will see the GPS coordinates. NOTE: move your mouse pointer off the google earth window to read your coordinates because if you mouse is on the window the coordintes will change to where your mouse is. I.E. 19 cedar st malone ny should give you the following coordinates: 44 51 17.59 N 74 16 42.20 W This is what I need email them to jbissonette@stx.rr.com along with your first and last name. Thanks.

Any time I ride it's a pleasure. Here in South West Texas I'll ride if the temp is 40 F and it's not raining. It doesn't rain much so that usually is not a factor. Back in the St. louis area I rode in 40 degree weather, but had to dress for it. In NY if there was no snow on the roads and the salt was washed off and the temp was at least 40 I would ride but usually less then 100 miles. So I would have to say 40 is the magic number. I will also ride in the rain if I have to in order to get to my destination. I will pull over if it's so bad that I can't see and wait it out.

At $12,500 it's still a GREAT buy for someone. If you don't get any hits here and decide to do the EBay thing I would put the reserve at $12,500. I have a new 2007 and if I was going to sell it I wouldn't even think of letting it go for less then $14,500 it's still a new bike. Of course I have put a few extra $$$ into it since I bought it and I only have 2100 miles on her. I'm always on the wrong side of the river when it comes to buying things. If I had only held off buying mine 3 months I would be standing in your door right now with $11,000.00 in hand and we would not be having this discussion. Good luck with selling her.

No problem with mine but I don't use them very much. I keep mine on AUX with my Zumo. Bring it back to the dealer it's covered.

He's correct. What I was refering to is if you have cable and you have more then one TV in your house and they are analog TV's then chances are your cable company will charge you to rent a box from them for your analog TV's. I just have basic cable so I don't need a box at the moment, but I will have to have 4 converter box's when they move over to digital signal transmission. My cabe company told me that they will have the boxes available soon for their customers but they are going to add $4.50 a month for rental, that's an additional $13.50 a month for me and I think I already pay to much for what I have ($43.95 a month for basic). I have one digital TV and three analog TV's in the house so it won't take long for me to spend some $$$ if I rent them. I would rather buy the box for $20.00 with a coupon.

Freebird would something like this benefit the site? Lets see 4000 members at $10.00 a ticket………………$40,000.00 Even if you only sell 2000 tickets………….It doesn’t have to be a bike it could be an accessory (GPS, CHROME, LIGHTS, etc. etc.). Just an idea to help out with the funds bank I would buy tickets.

For those that don't know about this Uncle Sam is offering up to 2 coupons per household worth $40.00 each for the purchase of Digital to Analog TV signal converters. If they do stop transmiting analog TV signals next year and you don't have digital TV's you will need these converter box's to watch over the air TV. Even if you have cable they will come in handy for your analog TV's unless your cable company is going to provide a converter box for all of your tv's FREE OF CHARGE and what do you think the chances of that happening is? https://www.dtv2009.gov/

The price is GREAT if anyone out there in the world is looking for a Venture and passes this up they need their head examined. Now for the light....I think you are crazy to sell it for that.....Put it on EBay and you'll pick up an additional 3 grand easy. I wish I had a few extra bucks hanging around because I would buy it and then put it on EBay and make some money.

Installing factory passing lamps
Pilot replied to a topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Sorry to rain on your parade but I run my high beams all the time day and night, but I don't do much night riding. I have never been stopped and never had a problem with the circuit. Like I said to each his own I'm just saying the lighting circuit on the RSV can handle another 70 watts. -
From day one 2 things have been and will continue to be debated until the end of our time, religion and politics. Wars have been and will continue to be fought over them. Lets stay away from them on this site as Freebird said it will only alienate people. Riding is what this place is all about it's what brings us all back for more so lets all keep coming back.

My friend back in Illinois is 6'7" (state trooper) and he rides a 04 Venture along with his wife who is only 5'3" and loves it. His friends call him and his wife Mutt & Jeff, only his friends. When he walks into a place people pay attention.

NEED HELP...Run Turn Brake Controller
Pilot replied to nkbjones's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I don't know of any plug and play modules for the Venture. It's not hard to wire the modules in all the wires you need to get to are under the seat. Good luck with it I have had these modules on all of my bikes in the last 10 years or so. -
Inner fairing replacement
Pilot replied to Ponch's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
It is very easy to break that plastic tab on the lower fairing. I reinforced mine with some epoxy. The metal bar that your refering to is held in place on the ends with a real cheap half moon plastic tab which is formed on the inner fairing. Your pics are a bit poor so I can't tell for sure but the plastic half moons on the inner fairing look OK. Those two bolt holes in the middle of your outer fairing probable broke because of the stress of not having the metal bar secured on the ends. It's great that Yama is replacing the parts for you. The Yamaha warranty on these bikes is second to none and is one of the reason I'm on my 2nd RSV. -
Installing factory passing lamps
Pilot replied to a topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Hope I don't make anyone mad but the idea is not to run the extra current thru the low/high beam switch, which some people have had problems with doing. I have not and I have not heard from any of my friends that they have by not using the relay. I know the theory behind using a relay and it's a sound one and I'm not suggesting that people don't use a relay I'm just saying that I have not had any problems with not using a relay. My reasoning is that I just don't think another 70 watts running thru this switch which is rated at 20 amps according to a friend of mine who is a Yamaha mech will cause the high/low beam switch to fail sooner rather then later. If indeed the switch is rated for 20 amps then it will switch 240 watts. The passing lights are 35 watts each. The low beam is 55 watts and the high beam is 60 watts. Both are on when you select high beam for a total of 115 watts. Adding 70 watts for the passing lights will increase the current thru this switch when you select high beam to 185 watts. However if you decide to change the 35 watt bulbs for the 55 watt ones it's a good idea to add the relay. -
Installing factory passing lamps
Pilot replied to a topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
There has been a lot of talk about using a relay, some have and some have not. I picked up power from the headlight high beam wire to power mine. I disconnected the switch that comes mounted on the passing lamp and ran a wire directly to both passing lamps. I then installed a mini fuse in each of the lamp housings and installed a 5 amp fuse. My passing lamps come on with my high beam. I did not install a relay and I had over 60K miles on my 03 RSV before trading it for a 07 with no problems. I also had over 86K miles on my 03 1100 with the same set up and no problem. I have never blown one of the 5 amp fuses. To relay or not to relay that is the question. -
The clamps attaches the muffler to the exhaust pipe, the bracket attaches the muffler to the frame of the bike and uses the existing muffler mounting hole. See this post for pictures of the bracket: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=12638&highlight=road+king+bracket In place of the bracket you can also use a P-Clamp.

I’ve been wearing them for years…I just apply black shoe polish to the HD logo. Along with the polish the legs of my jeans hide the fact so no one can tell…….Good boots.
