Sorry, didn't mean to make anybody sad. I have tried to ride my bike around in the heated shop, but it didn't work to good. I guess I'll just keep polishing chrome and dreaming of warmer weather.

Don't know about everyone else, but I'm getting a bad case of "Cabin Fever". I was going through some of my vacation pics from last year and found this vidio. My good friend, Allen, was following me on his Geezer Glide with a Go-Pro camera mounted to the front of his bike. The road that we are on is NC hwy 215 just north of the BRP. A big thanks to my wife who put it to music and down loaded it to Youtube. Hope you like it, remember spring is just around the corner. Hesitates when I accelerate

Who long since you changed the plugs? -
Its a single action only and the trigger works much better that I had expected.

Bow hunters are not there just to kill things. We enjoy just being there. I don't care to harvest very young animals who have not had a chance to mature and show thier genetic potential. Heck I may pass up shots a 20 or 30 does just to harvest a muture doe that does not have a yearling with her. The best advise I have heard. "If you wan't to kill a BIG BUCK, quit shooting the little ones." I have not used a decoy and my best trick for getting old buck to close the gap is a snort weez. I don't us a factory call, just my mouth, and do it very seldom. Over use of a grunt call or rattling horns is probably the biggest mistake I've made in the past.

They have a good reputation. Kel-tec .380 is a little thinner and a good weapon as well. My favorite pocket gun is a NAA .22 Mag mini revolver. Five shots, and it has more punk than a .380. http://www.naaminis.com/pix/msNEW.jpg

Clutch Question
Kross Kountry replied to Whitlow's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
If you have air in your hydrolic clutch line, the clutch will not release until the lever is closer to the grip. I keep hearing this "Bleed the clutch line" and it's a bunch of whoee. I have a 2008 and it's the same way and has been from day one. Get a clutch upgrade from PCW and it will fix the problem. It's an easy do-it-yourself fix. -
I've heard others say that the BMW's fill top heavy. What do you think? I like the looks of the late model BMW.

I average 20 bikes to a load. Thats 80 straps in use and another 20 because I keep all types and plenty of extras. I can't imagine having to carry 200 straps in each of my three trucks and trailers. It's your bike, do what ever makes you comfortable and gives you confidence. I do see alot of lazy haulers that use only three straps per bike. Two in the front and one on the rear tire. Not a good idea. If any one strap fails, the bike stands a very good chance of coming off of the trailer.

There's not many thing I can say this about, but hauling bike's is what I do for a living. Wheel chocks are nice but not a must. I've hauled about 10,000 bikes in the last 7 years and I never use them. The only time I had a bike fall in transport, two of the four straps broke. Never buy cheap straps, and give the worn and tattered ones to your inlaws. For the RSV I use soft tie loops (no metel hooks on metel) on the handle bars and I pull at an angle that keeps the strap from touching the bottem of the fairing. The bottem hooks spread out about 24 to 30 inches to either side of the bike and just about inline with the front axle. Pull the front straps to the point that there is a still a small amount travel left in the suspention (3/4 of an inch). Do not bottem the suspention out, it can damage the seals. On the rear of the bike attach the straps to the bottem of the saddle bag gaurds and pull about 45 degrees back and 45 degrees out. Both sides and keep in mind if you pull the rear straps last it will continue to collaps the front forks. I put all four straps on just snug enough to hold the bike up, pull the rear straps making sure the bike is vertical then finish at the front of the bike. If you are worried about the tires sliping to the side then screw a short piece of 2x4 to the trailer deck on either side of the front tire. If you are doing this by your self, place a piece 2x4 under the kick stand to keep the bike a little more vertical as you attach the straps. Start on the kick stand side rear, just snug, then go to the kick stand side front. Make sure you have 1 1/2 raps of strap on the ratchet so it does not slip. Now go to the right side front and pull the bike vertical off of the kickstand and remove the block of wood, and finally the last strap on the rear of the bike. DO NOT let the straps touch any painted part of the bike. It will remove the paint. ALWAYS leave the bike in gear when you transport it. This keeps the bike from moving forwards or backwards in the event that a strap should loosen or brake. Hope this helps. Tracy

Carbon-One Lift Adapter
Kross Kountry replied to OB-1's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Thanks Carbon-1 for the info. It sounds like my shop needs a Carbon-1 jack stand with legs. I'll have to check with my accountant first.- 56 replies

With the RSV on the Carbon 1 bike stand (with the legs), is the bike high enough to remove the rear wheel? If not, how much higher does the bike need to be lifted?- 56 replies

How do you guys do it????
Kross Kountry replied to badluck73's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
The President called and said you should check your air pressure in the tires. LOL That seems a little low even for city driving. If you have a good dealer, ask him to check the idle mixture (co2 test on the exhaust for mixture) and check the carb sync. My dealer did this under warranty since the bike was so new. And both of them were off. My fuel milage jumped from 30-32 mpg to about 34-36 mpg ( 70 mph interstate, no heavy load or big head wind). I did not see any fuel milage increase from " break-in" after 3000 miles. 10% Ethanol seems to drop my fuel mileage by 1-2 mpg. I have not found a fuel additive that will offset the loss from Ethanol. -
It's probably just a cold valve ticking, mine does the same thing. I wonder if the guys using Motorkote have seen a decrease in the ticking noise? I 've heard other brands and model of bikes that do it as well. Not a big deal.

The next time it happens try tapping on the bottem of each carb. Two flat head screw drivers will probably work. If its a sticky float, the vibration should unstick the float. Place the tip of one of the screw drivers on the bottem edge of the carb body,(not the diaphram cover) and tap the end of the handle with the handle of the other screw driver.

engine idle
Kross Kountry replied to Sideoftheroad's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Yes. The Control cable and throttle cables are one in the same. It think it takes a special tool to lube them. -

engine idle
Kross Kountry replied to Sideoftheroad's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Spec sheet says that the rpm's at idle should be 900 rpm's. The idle adjustment is just under the right side of the fuel tank to the rear of the #3 carb. It has a philips head center but you can turn it with your fingers. Check your throttle cables for any binding, especially the return cable. The cable adjustment and return spring is on the left side, a the rear of carb #1. You will have to pull the fuel tank to adjust it. -
Brake squeal ?
Kross Kountry replied to 6m459's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Both of my front brakes had a squeal and a grind just before I came to a complete stop. I pulled the pads out and used the bench grinder to bevel the leading edge of each pad. Beveling the pad helps to stop the grinding noise as the bike comes to a complete stop. I then used some "Disc Brake Quiet" ( high temp silicon glue) on the back of the pads. This help to stop the vibration that causes the high pitch squeal. On my first test ride I still had some brake noise but it quickly went away. It was most likely casued by the bur on the edge of the pads from beveling them. Hope this helps. Opps. I have to correct something. I used the pad glue on the inside pad only. The outside pad has a shim between the pad and the piston. My bad. -
I'm darn sure not an expert but I have had the chance to work on my carbs with someone who knew what they where doing. It sounds like you have one of four possible problems and they all have to do with floats. First thing to do is pull the tank and find the overflow tubes and try to determine which carb is the problem. When you pull the float bowl check the float level first thing. If the float level height is within specs: 1. Bad float not putting enough pressure against the float needle. If it is a plastic float, you shine a flash light into the opposite side of the float, it will have gasoline inside. A copper or black float, pull the float and shake it. 2. Dirty float needle and seat. Pull the float and needle and clean any dirt but don't over clean. Carb cleaner and air, don't force any thing like a welding tip cleaner through it. 3 Bad needle or seat. I've never replaced one but it can't be much harder than replacing a card jet. 4 The only other thing I can think of if maybe sticky float hinge not allowing the float to move freely. Hold the carbs right side up when you check the float motion. Hope this helps. If I'm wrong I'm sure I'll hear about it. Good Luck.

If you think Deer chili sounds good, you should try my wife's grilled Venison Tenderloin. She uses Jack Danials in her marinaid then cooks it just right on a hot cast iron grill with a hickory wood bed of coals. It's so tender you can cut it with a fork. I'm a "Lucky Man"! P.S. She loves to cook and hates to shop.

Good gritty Cornbread cooked in a cast iron skillet goes great with Deer meat chili.

Sounds Great! I will have to work the first part of the week but I hope to get Thurs and Friday off. I have a full shop of tools and a truck and trailer if you or your friend should have any bike problems. If you need any info about the area give me a call. You can find my cell phone number in the contact info. PS Don't speed thru the town of Westfork, AR. The cops are jerks there. Tracy

I live just a little ways from Winn-Creek and would loved to go for a ride, or just sit and drink a cold beer. What days are you going to be in the area? Tracy
