I've got an 06 Wing with roughly 18,000 miles on it. I bought it used and it had a slight slow speed wobble. I changed front tires and that took care of it. Smooth as silk now!

Well said Snarley Bill. I too have owned both. I rode a 2008 RSV for 2 years and now I own a 2006 Wing. I can't speak for the 1st gens as I have never ridden or owned one. But I can tell you that the Wing out handles, at any speed, the RSV and the Wing also has much more power all through the RPM range. With all that said, both the Wing and the RSV are not racing bikes and my RSV had more than enough power to get the job done for what it was designed to do. It provided me with many of miles of very enjoyable riding and I suspect the Wing will do the same.

I use to own an 08 RSV and on August 31st 2010, someone hit me and totaled it out. I recently bought a 06 wing and here are my opinions on this subject...many of which are already mentioned. Last summer my wife and I, rode the RSV on a 2400 mile vacation pulling a trailer and we had a blast. No issues at all. The RSV had more than enough power to get the job done. But I did have to spend quite a bit of money to get it where I was comfortable on long trips. First, I ended up having to install a set of 3 inch pullback handlebars to get the grips closer to me. On long rides, I would get a cramp in my mid back because I was having to reach for the handlebars. On rides 1 day or less, no back pain. On the first long ride I went on during the heat of the summer, I ended up with blisters on my inner thighs from the seat. It seemed to be worse when I put my feet on the highway bars so I bought a corbin seat. I didn't really like the corbin but I never got blisters again. After that, I could ride sun up to sundown with no issues and the RSV provided me and my wife with many miles of fun riding. About 2 months ago, I bought a 06 wing. Although the specs say the wing actually weighs more than the RSV, it feels about 100 lbs lighter due to the lower center of gravity. The wings sound system is superior and the wing far exceeds the RSV on handling and power. As previously mentioned in other posts, the rear of the RSV would "wonder" if I layed it over in a turn very far. I havent' found the point at which the wing "wonders" in a corner and I have layed it over pretty far....it is rock solid!! Slow speed handling, great! I do like the floorboards on the RSV and the ability to "stretch out" better than the wing but I am in no means "uncomfortable" on the wing. I'm 6'-0", 230 lbs and I don't have an issue getting comfortable on the wing but it is different and does take a little getting use to. With all that said, I have only had the opportunity to go on 1 long day trip of about 500 miles and I felt fine and don't foresee any issues with longer trips on the wing. I have no personal interest on what kind of bike others ride and some may disagree with my findings on the RSV vs. the wing and that is OK. I don't really like bashing other makes of bikes because we all have different type bikes for different reasons and we all hold them near and dear to our hearts. I liked my RSV and had it not got totaled, I would still have it and wouldn't be considering any other bike and my opinions are not intended to bash the RSV. My RSV was a good bike and I liked it greatly. But, life didn't deal me the opportunity to keep it Ride safe!!!

Just be sure to put the deer whistles on the right direction. If you put them on backwards, it calls them out!!!

I'm so happy........I just got the official word from Geico that the bike is totaled. Now I am waiting on them to pay off the loan. As soon as that happens, I'll be posting some stuff in the classifieds that some of yall might be interested in......more to come later!

I do have an attorney and he is handling my personal injury part and we are going straight for the at fault parties insurance company for personal injury. I'm going through my insurance company for the repair of my bike as per my attorney's advise. Reason being is we don't think the at fault party is going to have enough insurance to cover everything that was damaged. The at fault party was driving an older vehicle (2002 Chrysler mini van) and in GA, all you are required to have is $25,000.00 liability coverage. The first car damaged was a 1996 Crown Vic...book value $4600.00. Then he hit my 08 Venture and the last car he hit which had the most damage from the 2 cars involved, was a 2009 Caddilac CTS. Book value over $38,000.00 and I am pretty sure it suffered frame damage. We don't know how much insurance the guilty party has but we would bet the farm it is only going to be $25,000.00 and each claim would get a percentage of the allotted coverage and my insurance would have to pick up what was left unpaid on my bike. So there is a pretty good chance my insurance company would end up getting involved even if I persued the guilty party's insurance directly.

I have my bike insured through Geico. My rate for full coverage for my 08 Venture and liability for my wifes Virago 1100 is $325.00/yr. Can't argue with the rates. I was involved in an accident Aug 31st. They responded quickly and looked at the bike in the towing yard. They towed it to a repair shop of my choice to get a repair quote. I just got the quote back yesterday. It was for $12862.00. Geico is suppose to meet with the repair shop today and go over the quote. If they don't try to nit pick the quote down, the bike should be totaled....which I want the bike to be totaled!!! They have told me over the phone that the repair cost has to be around 90% of the value of the bike to total. I don't like that figure. For automobiles, around 50% considers a bike totaled. Maybe I'll see later on today and I'll let you know what Geico does.

I was briused up a fair amount. Especially on my left hip. It threw me about 6 feet in the air and about 10 feet over according to witnesses. I remember the viloent crash and I remember getting up off the street but I don' t remember the air time or how I landed. Briuses indicate I landed on my left hip. It was a glancing head on collision from about the 10:00 o;clock direction. That is what caused all the front end damage and all the damage to the right side of the bike is from road rash. I was 3rd one back in a left hand turn lane at a traffic signal. Some 18 year old kid in a mini van came flying around the intersection and crashed into the left rear quarter panel of the car in front of me. Then hit me from a glancing head on collision and then proceeded to hit the car that was in the right hand lane next to me on the left front....even after carshing into the car in front of me and crashing into me, he still was going fast enough to spin the last car he hit, 90 degrees to traffic flow. According to the accident report, he was cited for wreckless driving

Back on Aug 31st, someone ran into me from a glancing head on collision while I was sitting at a traffic light waiting on it to turn green. The other party was clearly at fault and they were cited for wreckless driving. I am letting my insurance company fix/total my bike and they will go after the other party's insurance to get their maney back. It tore up my 08 Venture pretty badly: entire front end,,,fairing busted, forks bent, handle bars, rear view mirror, wind screen busted, passing lights and blinkers busted. And everything down the right side of the bike....floorboards, fairing around the radiator, front and rear crash bar, saddle bag and the right side of the trunk suffered road rash. After talking to the Geico adjuster, he said the repair bill has to be around 90% of the value of the bike. I don't want the bike back and I want it totaled but 90% seems crazy. The repair shop hasn't finished the quote but I think 90% seems high. If they won't total it, how can I fight back?

It uses the negative pressure caused by the airbox to pull gas out of the carb bowl. Most bikes are designed that way. If you really want to run it with the airbox off, you can get a couple of pieces of heavy cardboard (and maybe a friend to help) and lay it accross the top of the carbs air intake. You'll find a spot where it will fun fine. The cardboard will create the negative pressure caused by the airbox when it is installed. I use to own a Suzuki VL 1500. One popular mod to gain power was to remove the restrictor on the inlet side of the airbox. In doing so, you had to dramatically increase the jets and needle setting to compensate for the pressure loss because of the larger intake hole in the airbox. Hope this helps.

The only thing I can think of to suggest on your particular route is River Street in Savannah GA. It is a 1 1/2 mile long cobblestone road beside the river that has lots of bars with live music, great resturants and stores. It is sort of like a slightly toned down Burbon street in New Orleans. I'd plan on spending the night in Savannah somewhere that is walking distance from Riverstreet. Not something you'd want to make a special trip to GA to see but if your in the area, It would be worth checking out.

Just be glad it was only groceries they tried to take. The day before Christmas, my mother (72 years old) was loading her groceries into the back of her PT Cruiser when 2 ladies drove up beside her and rolled the window down and asked for directions. My mother gave directions as best she could and suddenly one of the ladies jumped out of the car and shoved my mother to the ground and grabbed her purse and sped away. This happened in the parking lot of Ingles in Madison GA around noon. My mother hurt her hip, shoulder and had a nasty bump on her head from the fall. They got away with several hundred dollars cash, credit cards and check books. They charged up several hundred dollars of goods in Conyers GA before my mother could cancel accounts. She's not going to have to pay for it but it all still sucks. Mom recovered and is doing well now.
