Did you try to just go to the C:drive, program files, and delete any folder that is associated with mirc? It still may show as an installed program when you go to add/remove from control panel, but the files will have actually been deleted. Also, ctrl-alt-delete to go to task manager, look at processes and see if you can find any "hidden" procceses that may be running the mirc. End those processed and try to find where they are saved and delete them too. Good Luck...

I asked on this board before how to remove a car dealerships name decal off the back of my truck before and several people said use heat, like a hair dryer, or use wd40 and let it soak into the decal. I tried both with limited success. Now the decals about half peeled off. Good Luck...

Those of us on 1st gens don't really have this problem because we go way to fast to let cars pass us.

decel wobble
KingSizer replied to Indyventure's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
My 84 does the same thing. The front tire is just about done, but I won't be replacing it until next spring. I'm hoping that a new tire will get rid of the wobble. For now I just keep both hands on the bars (most of the time). -
I noticed when I took the trunk and bags off my 84 the po had wrapped tape around the rails to increase the diameter. One spot had duct tape and the other had plain old black electrical tape. Seems to work fine, not loose at all.

GOOD OIL FILTER a 1st Gen Venture?
KingSizer replied to a topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Have any of you guys ever used the yamalube oil that they used at the dealership? Any thoughts? -
The local Yamaha dealer here in New Castle, PA had 3, all two-tone black/blue. Why they would have three identical 07 ventures at the same store makes no sense to me. I'm not sure what the price was, but I could stop and check if anyone is curious.

I think I'll just keep waking up the old fashioned way. When the alarm clock goes off, I'll get out of bed and just open the curtain myself. These guys need to buy a bike or get a girlfriend, they have way to much time on their hands.

FOR ALL WHO “KNOW” MOTORCYCLE RIDERS I saw you hug your purse closer to you in the grocery store line. But you didn’t see me put an extra $10.00 in the collection plate last Sunday. I saw you pull your child closer when we passed each other on the sidewalk. But you didn’t see me playing Santa at the local mall. I saw you change your mind about going into the restaurant. But you didn’t see me attend a meeting to raise more money for hurricane relief. I saw you roll up your window and shake your head when I drove by. But you didn’t see me driving behind you when you flicked your cigarette butt out the window. I saw you frown at me when I smiled at your kids. But you didn’t see me when I took time off from work to run toys to the homeless. I saw you stare at my long hair. But you didn’t see me and my friends cut ten inches off to donate to Locks of Love. I saw you roll your eyes at our leather coats and gloves. But you didn’t see me and my brothers donate our old coats and gloves to those that had none. I saw you look in fright at my tattoos. But you didn’t see me cry as my children were born and have their names written over and in my heart. I saw you change lanes, talking on the phone while rushing off to go somewhere. But you didn’t see me going to be home with my family. I saw you complain about how loud and noisy our bikes can be. But you didn’t see me when you were changing the CD and drifted into my lane. I saw you yelling at your kids in the car. But you didn’t’ see me pat my child’s hands knowing he was sitting safely behind me. I saw you reading the newspaper or map as you drove down the road. But you didn’t see me squeeze my wife’s leg when she told me to take the next turn. I saw you race down the road in the rain. But you didn’t see me get soaked to the skin so my son could have the car to go on his date. I saw you run the yellow light just to save a few minutes of time. But you didn’t see me trying to turn right. I saw you cut me off because you needed to be in the lane I was in. But you didn’t see me leave the road. I saw you waiting impatiently for my friends to pass. But you didn’t see me. I wasn’t there. I saw you go home to your family. But you didn’t see me. Because I died that day you cut me off. I was just a biker. A person with friends and family. But you didn’t see me. REPOST THIS IN HOPES THAT PEOPLE WILL UNDERSTAND THE BIKER COMMUNITY. I HOPE YOU NEVER LOSE SOMEONE THAT RIDES…

Rear wheel noise
KingSizer replied to pappyam's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Did you check the rotors and brakepads? I got a clicking from the front end and that's what I think it is. If you figure it out, keep us posted.- 15 replies

Need Help!! speedo cable lube
KingSizer replied to KingSizer's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Thanks for the advice so far. I've got the dash all tore apart, there was no way my big hands were going to fit up thru the headlight. Those two screws on each side of the dash made it slide back real easy. I hope to lube it and put it all together when I get home from work today. It just got too late and too dark to really see what I was doing last night. Thanks again for the tips... -
Need Help!! speedo cable lube
KingSizer replied to KingSizer's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
If I pull the cable out of the sheath and lube it will that get enough lube to the top end where the speedometer actually is? The whining this morning when it was cold was alot worse than normal, it is still working, but I think I am pushing my luck... -
I've got the windshield off and the headlight out and I can't even see the cable. Just about 1.7 million wires. Any suggestions? Does the big plastic piece that would be the top of the dash come out? and how? Thanks for any help...

I don't understand anything that you guys are saying. zumo, gps, cfrg integration module, what??? I thought that BLUETOOTH was something you got from eating BLACKBERRIES . Are you sure this discussion belongs in the "GENERAL" tech talk section? I think it belongs in the "TECHNICAL" tech talk section. Do we have one of those? lol...

What is the actual fuel capacity...
KingSizer replied to NLAlston's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
You can't always trust the fuel bars on the panel. I've had times where I fill up, drive 50-60 miles and the red light is blinking away with no bars showing. The first time it happened I thought I had a fuel leak or someone siphoned some gas from me, so I stopped at a gas station, but I could only put in 1.5 gallons. The next time it blinked at 50 miles again and I just kept driving. After another 10-20 miles all the bars were showing again. I guess there is some glitch, but it doesn't really bother me. I just fill up after 160-180 miles. Usually the red light is blinking again by then. -
Any comments on the metzelers? I plan on a long ride Sunday to Geneva-on-the-Lake, by Cleveland, but there's no way I'm going with the back tire on the bike now. The only tire that I can find locally that will fit is a metzeler for $180. Any thoughts???

I'd like to try the koozie idea but I can't find the gas cap:rotf:

I don't know if this will help but, I had an 82 kz1000 that had NO fuel filter when I bought it. The fuel line went right from the tank to the carbs. I replaced all the fuel lines and spliced in a $3.00 inline clear fuel filter from Advance Auto. I didn't notice any difference in performance and when I rolled on the throttle and looked at the filter I could see the suction pulling more gas into the filter, as much as it needed. The filter never went completely empty and never filled up all the way, regardless of how much or how little throttle I was giving it. I think I would try to sync the carbs like several have mentioned already. Good Luck.

Fortunately for me the first time I forgot to put the kickstand down I was riding a KZ1000 that only weighed around 500 pounds, so it was pretty easy for me to pick up in a hurry, and then look around the gas station to see if anyone noticed. Although now I probably just jinxed myself. So, by the way, what is the proper technique for picking up a first gen? So I'll know when it happens.

When I bought my new old 84 Venture the previous owner gave me a chrome bumper that he thought was on the bike at one time. I haven't seen any pictures yet on this site that really look like what I have. Does anybody have any idea if there were ever chrome bumpers that go around the saddlebags for an 84 VR? Or has anybody ever seen something like that? I'm not sure if it will fit or how exactly how to put it on the bike. Any input or pictures would be greatly appreciated.
