  1. Upgraded 1st gen battery cables are in classifieds. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/photopost/showproduct.php?product=80&title=upgraded-battery-cable-set-for-1st-generation-1983-1993-ventures&cat=20 Gary
  2. Should be what you are asking for in pictures. Shown from both sides of board. Gary
  3. Here is step by step instructions to assist members in putting the information about your bike in your user profile. This information will then display beneath your user name when you make a post. This is often crucial information that is needed to give someone the proper answer to a question, as responses may vary depending on the bike in question. It isn't foolproof, as some members list various bikes they own, but it is a start. I do not think that Trial members can do this until they become Supporting members. You can click on pictures to enlarge them. Gary Click on Settings first. On left side of screen, click on Edit Profile. Scroll down to Optional Information block. In this field add the description for your primary motorcycle. When finished entering information, scroll to bottom of page and click on Save Changes at lower right of screen. Your bike info will appear beneath your screen name when you post.
  4. I posted a thread about Text Editor settings on site that may be cause of issue in original post. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?89680-Changing-Text-Editor-settings-on-new-forum-site-directions&p=871498#post871498 Gary
  5. This is in reply to an issue in another thread, but I started a new thread as it may benefit others. Issue was difficulty setting fonts in message editor when replying to threads. Check setting shown in pictures below. Pictures may be expanded by clicking on them. Click on Settings in upper right corner of screen. Next window, click on General Settings, about half way down on left side. Next window, scroll down until Miscellaneous Options is on screen. Set the Message Editor Interface to Enhanced Interface - Full WYSIWYG Editing (What You See Is What You Get) Scroll down to bottom of screen and click Save Changes. Gary
  6. Send me your email address (PM is best) and I will email you MAP program I furnish. It's better than the one Ignitech furnishes. Gary
  7. Don, I would like to be in the member vendors section also. Gary
  8. $1900 for what would become Tweety. 83 standard, bare as they come. 26,000 miles. Put a few dollars into it, still rides nice. Before and after (during) pictures. Gary

    New Site

    Nice work Don. Gary
  11. The not knowing is going to be torture for some. I love it. Gary
  12. Right hand side on the frame member that runs under the drives foot peg. There is a white tag on it with serial # on it. Also on registration & title in Ohio. The last 'C' in model number indicates bikes sold new in California. Gary
  13. This NOT a good sign, if he brought old site up must mean problems on new one. Gary
  14. If you unplugged rear switch & brake stayed lit, the front switch contact in the brake circuit is most likely not opening when it should. See partial schematic picture attached. Link below shows how to disassemble brake switch & clean. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=42720 Gary
  15. I have 2 aftermarket, new TCI's left. Direct replacement for stock one. New vacuum sensor included. $262 with PayPal. USA priority shipping & insurance included. http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=4867&title=new-tci-replacement-ignitech&cat=33 Gary
  16. Crap, I need to work on reading comprehension. All side covers, except clutch, are interchangeable from 83-93. Gary
  17. The 83-85 is about 1/2" narrower than the 86-93 version. The motor block has no change in this area over the years. Difference is due to changed stack-up height of the clutch pack when changed from 6 helical springs to the bevel spring. You can put a 86-93 clutch cover on the 83-85 motor/clutch combo. But not the other way. I discovered this when upgrading clutch about 4 years ago. Gary
  18. Machining the heads will give a much lower compression gain than if the block head surface were to be machined. Block is harder to machine though. Mainly due to the middle drive output casting area creates interference issue when mounted in milling machine. I have had 2 blocks milled. Cost was $160 each. Gary
  19. Carbs will work fine. You will however have an issue with the vacuum line that is connected to left front carb. Only on the 83 model was this line hooked above the throttle plates, 84 & later, it was connected to one of the sync ports on the rubber intakes below the throttle plates. This change in vacuum source results in the 83 TCI's only usable with 83 carbs due to the vacuum port above the throttle plate is not on 84 & later carbs. The boss is still in the carb body casting, just not machined for brass nipple. Leaves you with 3 viable options with 87 carbs, Drill out carb body and install nipple. Switch to a stock 84-89 TCI. Lastly install an Ignitech TCI. Gary
  20. I should know this !! Went through it with Tweety several years ago when I put MKII rear brake on 83 (Tweety). I was thinking that pin on swingarm was removable on MKII's. Picture attached of MKI & MKII caliper arm. Gary
  21. That bolt changed in 86, they are not interchangeable. Just mentioning it in case donor bolt is from an MKII. Gary
  22. Possibly on an 83. From 84 on, the flasher relay was combined with the start circuit relay. This would have most likely been a specific application relay that would have limited use outside Yamaha. Gary
  23. I will send you the best used extra stator I have (1st gen) if you send me the damaged one. Might try rewinding idea & would like to use that core. Gary
  24. PDF drawing & picture attached. Gary
  25. His TCI is well after group that had issue. It would not be first thing that would concern me. Pick up coils should be checked warm and complete circuit back to TCI for pickups. I have had several buyers of Ignitech TCI's that still had a no start with new TCI and it was traced back to pickup circuits. Last guy was in Thailand with a VMax about 3 months ago. Gary
