  1. Still looking for interested people. Gary
  2. Come on people. We are slightly ahead of last years pace for donations, but not much. 55 last year, 66 this year at same point in time. Remember, Venture Screen name is all I need on paypal, THAT'S ALL, PLEASE. garydinges@neo.rr.com is PayPal ID for trailer "Donations" $10 for one, $25 in multiples of 3 ($100 = 12 "Donations") Gary
  3. Use it, Don gave it to you. You just paid for shipping. Rules are just guidelines for creative people. Don't be constrained by others delusions of reality. Gary
  4. Not the answer you want to hear, but no. The bike is very finicky about changes to the air box. I have experimented with my 83 before it went VMax, and it did not react well, especially in the mid range, with even two 1" diameter extra holes. I have a spare complete air box. You can have it for shipping costs. Gary
  5. Not sure if this is what you are looking for. Something I accumulated over the years. Couple of bonus pictures also, thought I would add them, just in case. Gary
  6. Should I Really Join Facebook? (Priceless)Read it all the way through! It's a good laugh! AND really quite true!! A good laugh for people in the over 65 group !!! When I bought my Blackberry, I thought about the 30-year business I ran with 1800 employees, all without a cell phone that plays music, takes videos, pictures and communicates with Facebook and Twitter. I signed up under duress for Twitter and Facebook, so my seven kids, their spouses, my 13 grand kids and 2 great grand kids could communicate with me in the modern way. I figured I could handle something as simple as Twitter with only 140 characters of space. My phone was beeping every three minutes with the details of everything except the bowel movements of the entire next generation. I am not ready to live like this. I keep my cell phone in the garage in my golf bag. The kids bought me a GPS for my last birthday because they say I get lost every now and then going over to the grocery store or library. I keep that in a box under my tool bench with the Blue tooth [it's red ] phone I am supposed to use when I drive. I wore it once and was standing in line at Barnes and Noble talking to my wife and everyone in the nearest 50 yards was glaring at me. I had to take my hearing aid out to use it, and I got a little loud. I mean the GPS looked pretty smart on my dash board, but the lady inside that gadget was the most annoying, rudest person I had run into in a long time. Every 10 minutes, she would sarcastically say, "Re-calc-u-lating." You would think that she could be nicer. It was like she could barely tolerate me. She would let go with a deep sigh and then tell me to make a U-turn at the next light. Then if I made a right turn instead. Well, it was not a good relationship... When I get really lost now, I call my wife and tell her the name of the cross streets and while she is starting to develop the same tone as Gypsy, the GPS lady, at least she loves me. To be perfectly frank , I am still trying to learn how to use the cordless phones in our house. We have had them for 4 years, but I still haven't figured out how I lose three phones all at once and have to run around digging under chair cushions, checking bathrooms, and the dirty laundry baskets when the phone rings. The world is just getting too complex for me. They even mess me up every time I go to the grocery store. You would think they could settle on something themselves but this sudden "Paper or Plastic?" every time I check out just knocks me for a loop. I bought some of those cloth reusable bags to avoid looking confused , but I never remember to take them with me. Now I toss it back to them. When they ask me, "Paper or plastic?" I just say, "Doesn't matter to me. I am bi-sacksual." Then it's their turn to stare at me with a blank look. I was recently asked if I tweet. I answered , No, but I do fart a lot."
  7. I measured one of new screws I have. 4mm x 0.7 thread x 12mm overall length, countersunk head. Gary
  8. I finally sold the last of the Ignitech units last week I got in December and have had several requests for more. This TCI will fit 1st Gen Ventures from 1983-1993. for the 90-93 year bikes adapter cable & program in TCI are different due to single pickup coils. This TCI will also work fine with the 1983 bikes with a minor vacuum location change. Full instructions & pictures included. Price will be $255 for TCI, new MAP sensor, adapter harness, vacuum line, mounting velcro and related small items. Same as last time, optional USB-COM cable is $15. This is not needed in most cases. Only needed if you want to program TCI parameters. It will come from me with very good Venture program installed. This is a little less than I pay for these cables. It is worth it to get one, if I have an update for program it is needed to load new program into TCI. $10 paypal fee. Priority shipping & insurance to buyer is in price for US orders. Link to last thread on this is at: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=74234 Main Ignitech thread: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=40414 PM or call me. Info is in my profile. Gary
  9. You can find these on ebay for a tad under $20 each often. http://stores.ebay.com/Sirius-Consolidated-Inc/_i.html?_nkw=venture+air&submit=Search&_sid=24743148 Item # 370775305262 if link doesn't work. Gary
  10. I'm glad someone asked that. Was tempted to, but could only guess at what range the replies would have been. Seems like a difficult, repeatable test setup. Gary
  11. Make sure bike is in neutral or on center stand when jumping either solenoid or putting power directly to starter. Motor can crank either way and if it is on sidestand in gear, and you are laying beside it jumping to starter you may get a first hand view of how heavy these bikes are when it lurches forward and falls over. Gary
  12. Did not mean to imply it was my bike, it was the Sea-Foam representative from WV that claims that title, if he said it happened, something must have happened. As I mentioned, a campfire legend. Gary
  13. I suggest some mud, go ride it around, camp some. Tell tales around the campfire of the Venture that did 120mph in 3rd. Gary
  14. He bought the Valk. It will be a change from his HD Dyna Glide Gary
  15. Listing in classifieds http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=3887 I don't remember the size I ordered. Gary
  16. He just saw bike 1st time today, he is considering buying it. Gary
  17. I have a friend that is looking at a 99 Valk. Clutch is engaging poorly. Lever is almost all the way out for full engagement. How hard is it to get to the clutch plates on this bike. Other than wrong oil in bike & bleeding clutch fluid, what else can cause this. Gary
  18. Upper left connector should control fan motor from what schematic shows. There is a fuse in circuit. Also, the RSV's have a noise filter in the leads to the fan. The Br/L wire in attached picture goes to the fan fuse then to 12v power to complete circuit. The single wire connector on the thermostat junction housing controls the indicator light on dash. Gary
  19. Attached are a couple of pictures of the temp switch in a radiator that is out of bike. View is from rear of radiator, switch is upper left on rear side. Gary
  20. I have about the same setup Steve has in the 83 (Tweety) and I like it. No Spacers, 7" oil depth, anti dives blocked, 10 wt fork oil, progressive springs #11-1112, minimum air in CLASS as it will allow. Gary
  21. And where is this written in the forum rules??? Now you went and made this a useful post deserving a big THANKS!!!!! Gary
  22. MarCarl working on his winter rebuild project. Just begs for a caption !! http://i1007.photobucket.com/albums/af193/gdingy101/IMG_041720Small_zpsb3049380.jpg
  23. Give me a break Carl, it sounded like I actually knew what I was talking about. Yamaha dealer even agreed. !! With proper equipment and an experienced hand, much better results are achievable. Gary
  24. And interestingly enough the hazards don't work with the key off. I tried to help Ponch figure his out a couple of years ago over several lengthy phone calls and he didn't get it to work. Gary
