  1. I thought a Royale indicated the lower clock stopwatch functions on cluster. If so at a minimum, the harness would be missing the 5 gear position indications. Gary
  2. It should be unhooking 3 existing connectors. Then plugging harness ends into Ignitech adapter cable. I have two RSV connector sets on order. Have not done this before. I have discussed using TCI on RSV with Ignitech and I have a setup that should work. Just don't have a bike to try it on. You will loose the error code checks that are built into the stock TCI. Gary
  3. Will not work. Connectors & wiring harness are different. Gary
  4. I am getting a couple of adapter cables for an RSV with current Ignitech TCI purchase. I'm going to use one on my project bike this year. Other one I would like to find a RSV owner that would like to try an Ignitech. Should be similar setup to Dyna, but with more options. Wont be here for a couple of weeks though. Gary
  5. Well at least he had some great initial training. Oh Rah !! Very nice looking bike !!! Gary
  6. It has a sensor like the RSV in the final drive housing. At least the 97 RS I am using parts of does. Gary
  7. Attached picture shows installing relay to operate horns. Your two new horns would be down where it says air horn compressor. Two existing horns are at top. Horn button supplies a 12V neg (ground) when pushed. Gary
  8. The left rear & the right rear coils share a com 12v + lead. Referred to on schematics as 'Rear Ignition Coil' harness -C- Picture of coils from schematic. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=42357 Gary
  9. I have all three, used R/R and fuel pump !!! Gary
  10. Assuming your new harness & charging system is in great shape, next variable is a changing load in the main system. When this load varies, the R/R is slow to respond to change. Next would be a battery showing distress. Face it, 4 years on a bike with as much as you use it is not bad. Load testing may not show bad for something intermittent. Also look at contacts in the key switch. Gary
  11. Never jump a motorcycle with a running car/truck. Bad things can happen if you do. If car is not running you are fine to jump from it. Its not the size of the battery, its the capacity of the cars charging system to overwhelm the R/R in the bike that does the damage. Gary
  12. I don't know if this could be related to Ventures, but the VMax guys have a splice connection in the harness identified as a culprit. http://vmaxoutlaw.com/tech/crimp.htm This is in a VMax. I have opened up harnesses on Ventures and there are many of these splices that are taped over. Gary
  13. I think that part was only on 88 and later forks. I can tell by the drilling in the fork tubes I sectioned to see what was going on inside of them. Yamaha had at least 3 very different designs in the lower fork anti dive area. 83-85, 86-87, and 88-93. I probably have some extras of the part you only have one of. The part on left in the picture in first post is the lock valve & is common to all the designs. The 'flying saucer' is 88-93. Gary
  14. Some pictures attached of fuel pump dissected. Gary
  15. What is voltage at battery terminals when cranking? Gary
  16. Check the Kill switch. Power for TCI runs through the contacts in this switch. Gary
  17. Just talked to one of the Electrical Eng. I work with and he said a 'normal' solder reflow temp is around 480 F. It would depend on board design for the precise temp. There are processes where there are differing solder rflow temps used on one board due to construction requirements. Point being the 400 deg temp would be well below normal reflow temps. So there may be someother cause and effect scenario going one by doing this. Gary
  18. This might be handy for Eck, cold solder joints aren't his main issue, I think it is high moisture content. Gary
  19. I have an unused one that came off tank of a 2003 RSV. Free to first one to claim it. Gary
  20. I now have enough interest to proceed with another buy of the Ignitech modules. $255, if using paypal added $7.00 to cover paypal fees. Programing cable is $15 extra, not needed unless you want to reprogram module. This will include US priority shipping & insurance. Time frame for you to receive TCI will be about 4 weeks. I have to order TCI's from Czech Republic & map sensors from China. Had to bribe wife to let me take $1500 out of savings to get extra units to make this feasible and profitable for me. Got to buy her a set of running boards for her jeep out of my profits. Gary
  21. Myself, I would use the 91 unit, much better system. Minnimal harness wiring changes. I can send you the connector you need for the harness side to be able to plug in pickup coil connector. All you should have to do is swap TCI and install new 2 pin connector in place of 6 pin that is on harness now. May have to swap a couple of wires at TCI harness, but I can give you needed changes. Gary
  22. Yes it will !! Different adapter harness & different program in TCI and it will work on 90-93 Ventures also. Gary
  23. Spray them with WD40 or similar lubricant. All that is holding them is the two o-rings in each collar adhering to the fork tube. I took a soft faced hammer and tapped them some to break them loose. There is a wire ring under each air collar that keeps them from slipping down the tube. Gary
  24. They are the same price this time for pre-paid orders as they were the 1st time I did this in August 2011. Gary
  25. And this is from a guy that used to own a Yamaha ???? And that glide is about one off-shored part away from losing it's Made in the USA label. Gary
