  1. Thread linked below to clean the switches behind the brake/clutch levers. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=42720 Gary
  2. Also check the pickup coil connector. It is located near the shock damper knob on left side of bike. 6 pin connector with one blank space. I have seen this connector very dirty and/or oily. Use an ohm meter and check from the black wire to each of the other 4 wires. Reading should be from 93~126 ohms. My opinion is that they should all be close to the same reading. Not two at max and other two at minimum, just an opinion though. Then check all 5 wires to ground. There should be infinity ohms to ground. I am not sure which wires run which coil. Wiring diagrams are linked below. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=42358 Gary
  3. I think he has it covered by now, last post prior to yours was in 2009. You are far from the 1st to reply to an ancient thread though. Usually it is the newbies that are searching through site and do it. Gary
  4. Maybe pictures in 16th post in thread below. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?threadid=75566&page=2 Gary
  5. Below are some still shots from a video that Ragtop69gs took using a gopro camera mounted to his RSV. Eusa1 is leading group, followed by his wife Lucy II. This is about a minute and half into ride after pulling out of parking lot Tuesday morning. I will get video posted, I need to get some software to clip it to just this segment. 10. I have some Pledge with me. It helps and won't damage windsheild. Track me down !! Gary
  11. Attached are a bunch of pictures I am taking at International Rally. Bunch of sunset a couple of nights. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/w2lpr8bn09w1chu/ZLun09TxCM Gary
  12. Run your finger around the front tire edge, just a little off center. If you feel some dips, very slight, you have cupping on the front tire. This will be a little difficult to feel till once you get the hang of it, take a gentle rapid sweep around the circumfrence of the tire. Gary
  13. If the bike has a factory compressor (CLASS) there will be no airports (Shrader valves) for front or rear. Airports are only on non CLASS equiped bikes. Front port will be to left of key switch. Gary
  14. Few pictures of sunset looking out over Missisippi river and a couple of Chestnut Mountain Resort we are at. Gary
  15. Bike rode on trailer. Wife was scared in jeep going through Chicago. Gary
  16. We are here, saw about 15 other members in area. 49 degrees tonight, high of 71 tomorrow, Global Warming my posteriour. Gary
  17. Those floorboards are going to be a chore to make very shiny. It will be difficult to get an even glossy finish around the lettering that is cast into floorboards (YAMAHA). I would suggest that you paint them some acceptable color and call it good. You can prep the surface with a bead or sand blaster. From experience, you are better off using a chemical to remove the clear coat, don't try to blast it off. It's tenacious. I prefer aircraft paint remover, red can, Auto Zone has it. Stuff is strong, so be careful with it. You will need to remove rubbers from it either way. Getting out is fairly easy. Getting back in is a tad harder. I ended up tying a fishing line around the rubber protrusions, feeding line through hole, lubricating rubber and then work it through each hole. It can't be just pushed back through hole, has to be pulled. I recall someone else a couple of years ago posting a different technique to do this, but don't recall what they had done. Picture shows Tweety's floorboards for an idea what painted ones would look like. These are powder coated and have held up well. Gary
  18. This will probably be a 'feel good' type of thing, but it won't help clean contacts. They are internal to the oil case, thus sealed from the outside. Gary
  19. You're fast Carl, but not fast enough. I had one ready to go last night. My speedo has been bouncing a little, so I packed one in case it decided to croak. Gary
  20. I'll be at the IR and WNY rally, show up and I'll see what that your dot looks like in my mirror !! Gary
  21. Apples to oranges. Rider, altitude, humidity, track conditions will all influence times at a drag strip. It is a start, but side by side dyno's would be more telling. I would have thought a 1300 to be more of an improvement than this. MPH is 0.5% change and eta is 1.5% change. This indicates hole shot difference between 2 runs. Gary
  22. There are rumors that claim MKI's have more power. Same rumors exist in the VMax group that the 1985, 1st year, will outrun all the others. I have not seen any dyno or drag strip runs to support either. The 1300 motor has more potential power than a 1200 just by the fact it is 8.3% larger. Gary
  23. So much for my contribution. Don't know of a reasonable explanation for problem with just hitting rev limiter. Gary
  24. I have a extra set. Let me know if you need them and I can take to IR. Carl or someone can get them to you. Gary
  25. http://i1007.photobucket.com/albums/af193/gdingy101/wtf-monkeysmall.jpg Just thinking about how a normal axle in a car, that only provides traction to one wheel, will handle with that setup with long wheelbase. Gary
