  9. The TCI has a program setting on the Miscellaneous tab, half way down left side of screen, Dwell. With Coil over Plugs, this needs to be set to Short or Auto. This setting compensates for the lower resistance of COP's. In order to do this, you need TCI connected to a computer. Running it at Long setting will draw excessive current through Ignitech TCI, and may cause it to overheat & fail. Did you get the manual when you bought your Ignitech ? I don't recall selling one to you. I can email it to you if you don't have it. Gary
  10. I have not heard any comments on heat being excessive. It does have all the current that operates coils pass through it. Gary
  11. Fixed it !! Thank You, Gary
  12. The Hybrid, aka Sylvester, had over 30 parts powder coated this weekend. Have the floor boards partially installed. That shifter is going to get a modification, probably more drastic than just removing the heel portion. It just looks way to big. One picture shows it on bike, but without linkages attached. Rear brake has a slight interference with the revised motor mounts. I am going to have to shim the right floor board out about 1/4". Did the handle bar inserts in Tweety color. I have a headlight & mounts coming this week that are definitely going to make front end look different. I found a set of HID dual projector lights. Gary
  13. The D.G.M. realizing that the bidding has jumped to an amount to rich for some peoples blood offers a new twist to the competition that should sweeten the pot. This new twist should allow others to play on whatever level they feel comfortable. Say you would like to contribute but not at the level of the highest bidder you can sponsor a current bidder by stating "I would like to increase the bid of (add current bidders name here) by $??.?? US. Bringing the total bid to $???.??" At the end of the competition the current bidder with the highest accumulated bid wins. I think it would be perfectly acceptable for any bidders to solicit and politic for pledges from any VR members or outside contributors interested in bidding for the St. Jude cause. So far the current bidders are, in order of highest bids : Currently as of 5/16/2014: Dingy $200.00 + Puc's $40.00 + Videoarizona's $25 + Auction items $360 = $625.00 Aussie Annie $150.00 US Sleeper Hawk $100.00 Dragonslayer AKA D.G.M. $60.00 + Bongo's $20.00= $80.00 Bongobobny $55.00 AKRefugee $50.00 Cowpuc aka Pucster $40.00 However, to keep track of the bidding it is important that all bidding be done on this thread so no one gets confused by there being open bidding on multiple threads. Team Dingy has another $360 committed from parts auctions. Total at this point is $625 for some children that need this money more than a lot of us do. High bidders at this point are: Adventurer 08: $80 JohnT: $30 Tooch: $25 Ragtop69GS: $20 + $20 86er: $45 Stickhandle2: $30 Ground-Hugger: $50 DragonSlayer : $60 See items for auction at link below. 100% of funds raised go to St. Judes fund !!! http://www.venturerider.org/forum/sh...977#post834977 Gary

  15. It is much easier to get motor out of and back in frame with the swing arm removed. I haven't replaced oil pump on motors I have rebuilt. If you are concerned about pump, replace it. I can get you info on an upgrade kit for the oil pump to increase oil pressure at idle. At a minimum, replace the plastic impeller in water pump with a metal one. Seal replacement is also a good idea. Drive gear is dependent on wear on existing one. I haven't replaced one yet. Middle gear back lash can be checked rather easily to see if it is in spec. Details in service manual. Lot of things to look at inside motor. Piston ring wear, verify rings are at optimum side of specs, if below mid specs, consider replacing. About $120 for set. Every gasket & o-ring should be replaced. How many miles on motor? Only way to determine if they are in spec is to plasti gauge them PIA for mains & balancer shaft, easy on rods. Probably $150 roughly to replace all bearings. With 2nd gear problem, there may be related shift fork damage and gear gear damage. Depends how bad it has gotten. It would be very helpful to get the video that details step by step rebuild of motor. Gary
  16. I have had the 1st set of mac's for quite some time. Put them on Tweety about a month ago. Gary
  17. This set will most likely end up on Tweety. I have a set of Mac's on Tweety now that I got from Paysaw last year that will go onto Sylvester. They are in really good shape, but do have a little wear on them. I might end up shortening the set on Sylvester about 12", this is length to 1st baffle. Slash cut the ends at 30 deg. Freebird said he might be able to pick them up from Bob's. I am about 40 miles from his place so that will work great. Thanks to everyone that helped move these muffler, a great show of what this site excels at. Gary
  18. Thanks, I have a black cover for reservoir I got from Pinwall. The air cleaner brackets are what I removed. It will be easy to braze a stud to frame for reservoir, it just needs to be above master, location isn't critical for it. The revamped front motor mount will probably be where it goes. Gary
  19. Thanks Bob, with that I now see how both pedal brackets mount to the floor board brackets. Rather easy, once I know where they mount. I will have to fab up a mount for the rear reservoir I think I removed bracket it mounted to, thought they were only for sub fairing & lower plastic which I won't be using. Arrow points to where brackets removed for cosmetic reason. No rear floor boards on Hybrid, it will be a single seater. Thanks, Gary
  20. Working on the Hybrids, running boards & pedal assemblies and I need some help. Having never really looked at a complete 2nd gen I am not sure how shifter & rear brake pedal/master assembly mounts to frame. As some are aware, I am making a 1st gen/2nd gen/Vmax hybrid bike out of parts from at least 20 different bikes. I never paid much attention to 2nd gens to this detail when I was around them. Parts fiche & service manual assume that you know where every thing goes, I don't. Front floorboard mounts are understood, it is the attachement of the pedal assemblies that I am in need of help. Pictures of them would be great. I don't even know if I have all the needed parts at this point for the mounts. Some pictures attached of what I have. Floorboards are ready to be powder coated. Floor boards are loose from brackets, I just set them together for picture, may not be in right position in picture. Gary
  21. Not with that riding position at my age. The header looks interesting. Gary
  22. You have the correct P/N. Tube will pull out of block, nothing else holding it in place. Gary
  23. Eck, I was refering to unguarded picture of assembly. Though for him to have gone through the work of making this, I would think he would like to have it visable, along line of your clear cover comment. Gary
  24. From an engineering point of view the cable is at a less than desirable angle as it exits the sheath. Will wear strands rather quickly on inner cable. But give the guy some credit Eck, surely it is a work in progress. Did take some design & machining skills to make. Gary
