  1. That's what I have done. Didn't think about that when I did previous reply. I should be banned from posting for 48 hours. Might get more done on Hybrid. Building a wiring harness from scratch is time consuming. Gary
  2. Pictures attached showing a Markland mount that was available for 1st gens. These show up on Ebay occasionally. Driving light attach to same bracket. Left horn has an offset plate I made from the stock horn mounts. I don't think you can ground horns at bracket as MiCarl mentioned as the horn circuit switches the ground side of circuit. Gary

I installed font Prairiehammer linked and it works on computer I installed it on. What might be a problem is when document that was created is shared with another user that does not have the font on their PC, the font will not show up as intended. I don't know if there is a way to embed font in document. Gary
  4. This "No more mister nice guy' is confusing ? Did someone leave the site ?? Haven't seen goose for a while, was it him ?? Gary
  5. This is one from Cycle One Off. They also have a 'dash' mount version. I unhooked the stock oil level sensor, got tired of seeing it come on all the time. Gary
  6. VMax guys have added resistors to COP's to keep from damaging the pre 1990 stock TCI's. Resistors needs to be 1.0~1.5 ohms @ 20 watts. Resistors are instaled on negative side of coil. White, orange, gray & yellow wires. Some have not damaged stock TCI without resistors, but others have. The 1990 & later TCI's seem to not need resistors. Gary

    Brake lock up

No, read it again. There is a series of events that sometimes take place when rear end is locked up. It rarely results is in a high side, but when it does, it will hurt. It is something that is extremely difficult to practice for. Very fine line between getting it right and getting hurt. It's something I learned from a young age to do. It's a controlled reaction to feather off rear brake. I am a fanatic about having brakes that are more than adequate to stop one of these bikes. Situations like I described are a result of rider needing to use all the braking ability the bike has, when faced with that, it is counter intuitive to reduce braking power. Gary

    Brake lock up

Rear brake lock up is rather well known with the RSV's, of course depending on your riding style. Rick Butler has a post in the 2nd gen tech section of a way to reduce the tendency of the bike to lock up. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=13098 Rear brake lockup can be a very dangerous situation. When rear wheel locks up, and front braking is also being applied, the rear end can slide out of line with the front end. If this is felt quickly enough brake pressure can be reduced on rear and back end will come back in line. If rear slide comes out far enough, the bike will start to lean over and get closer to going into a lay down with front wheels leading. This is not a real bad way to lay a bike down. Never preferable though to lay one down. Bad things happen when the bike is washed out and rider releases rear brake completely, this can cause the rear end to snap back in line with front end, then the inertia of the rear end moving can cause rear to slide back the other direction, then causing bike to lay down in a 'high side' position. This is often a rather violent serious of events where rider finds themselves being slammed into ground with the bike in a wheels trailing position. Due to the force that a high side creates, the bike sometimes starts flipping or other undesirable movement, this all happening while rider is sliding in front of the careening bike which will go farther than the rider does. 9. Someone that has done a trike conversion may have these ?? Gary
  10. I am slowly sneaking up on a Palomino edition. Working on wiring harness, total rework of harness. Gary

  12. It will not latch, once RPM drops below specified value, output shuts off. When RPM exceeds value, output turns on. There is also a Hysteresis setting so if selected trigger value is right at idle speed RPM, then output can be adjusted so as not to 'chatter'. Gary
  13. If there is an Ignitech TCI in your future, it could be done with an output from the TCI. There are 2 power out circuits available on the TCI. Both have various settings that control if power out signal is energized. One way is to set the RPM setting to only power on the output when it detects an RPM of 500 or higher. Picture attached. The output signal can then drive a relay to control the HID light circuit. Gary
  14. Looking to buy a set of bag guards for Sylvester (RSV Hybrid). Mainly looking for just the guards in front of bags. Picture has yellow arrows pointing to item(s) I need. The narrow crash bars that are around the lower part of bag to rear aren't needed. Mounting hardware would be great, but I can figure that out. If chrome isn't good, I can powder coat them. Gary
  15. There are manufacturing tolerances to take into account on swing arm & final drive machining. Shim requirement probably is on an as needed basis. Gary
  16. You may or may not need one. Tweety (1st gen) & RSV Hybrid (2nd gen) did not need it to line up (rear axle aligned between left & right swing arm). Gary
  17. $20 from boats.net + shipping. http://www.boats.net/parts/search/Yamaha/Motorcycle/1990/VENTURE%20ROYALE%20-%20XVZ1300DA/METER/parts.html Gary

  20. I make & sell tool to adjust steering bearing settings per service manual specifications. Ore you can use hammer and screwdriver method. http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=4701&title=steering-head-wrench-2c-fits-all-ventures26amp-3b-stars&cat=33 Gary
  21. Try changing the center computer module with your old one, may cure problem. PIA to take back out, but it is a possible fix. Gary
  22. A condenser (aka capacitor) does not pass DC current, so there is no drain on the battery. It 'absorbs' spikes and ripples that are present on the 12v power circuit. Should be located on left side, behind cylinder head & in front of fuel tank. I think it is mounted to the vertical frame rail. Here is another link to one on ebay with a better picture of it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1986-Yamaha-Venture-Royale-XVZ1300-Electrical-Part-Unknown-/121219317399?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1c393bfe97&vxp=mtr Gary
  23. I think that is for the condenser, assuming this is on your 89. Bike will run fine without condenser, its function is to reduce static on radio & intercom system. It does nothing else that is critical to bike running. Condenser is about 1 1/2" dia x 4" long. Black plastic shell. Ebay link to one below. http://www.ebay.com/itm/BNIB-NOS-NEW-Yamaha-Venture-XVZ1300-VMAX-Smoothing-Condensor-1NL-81965-01-A181-/251174393542?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts_13&hash=item3a7b2916c6&vxp=mtr Gary
  24. You might have broken the final drive pinion gear shaft. Attached picture shows exploded parts view. #16 is part that may have failed. Forward pointing shaft that connects to #22 has been known to break. #22 in turn connects to drive shaft. Gary
