Does VR have same FC mounts as VMAX?
dingy replied to syscrusher's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
A set from a VMax will not work on a Venture without modifications.'' As seen in your picture, the shift shaft on a VMax exits the middle gear cover, Ventures have shaft exit point at rear of stator cover. Gary -

how "fast" are these bikes

http://i1007.photobucket.com/albums/af193/gdingy101/Bignutssm_zpsa766fe34.jpg I have some of these stickers coming. Don't really need them, but I can hand one to loser in grudge match. Sort of like Robert Duvall in Apocolypse Now, when he was tossing cards on enemy's bodies on beach. Gary -

Pretty Sure sounds like there is some lingering doubt about this campfire tale. Gary -

I am not going to encourage anyone speeding on a Venture by giving any credence that a Venture would possibly do 120mph in 3rd gear. Bald face lie. A venture with stock heads on it will not do 10K rpm. I've tried. It takes some secret modifications for that. Tweety will do 10K though. Gary -
Picture in post 2 shows blank panel. It is actually standard venture radio panel. I filled hole with lexan. Gary

My 1st wife passed away from heart attack late this afternoon. She was the mother of my 31 & 28 year old sons. Oldest is executor of her will, and needs to make arrangements. Funeral & burial will be in Moorehead Ky. I am going to be with them for support at the funeral services. Ex and I always were amicable. Her family are still friends. Wouldn't have any fun in Bama with them having to deal with this. I have a reservation at Gunteresville Park lodge for Saturday thru Wednesday night. If someone wants it call me at 419 589 4175 Sympathies not necessary on this, she was my Ex. Gary

My 83 will not start when in neutral
dingy replied to cachris's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Neutral switch is a closed circuit when bike is in neutral (zero or very low ohms). Switch circuit is to ground through the neutral switch, so it can safely be tested by disconnecting connector to switch and jumping harness end to ground. NOTE, This will allow bike to crank & start in gear. This is best done on center stand. Gary -
Our new corn hole boards arrived today. Nephew made these for us. Graphics on fronts represent the 2 Ventures motorcycles I have. Text along edges by holes are what has been pinstriped on the 83 venture. Boards are a very interesting construction. The two board bases are sized so they sandwich together. The handles also serve as the support to position each board at correct angle for play. Graphics were created just for what I wanted, and then printed on a high end printer on 24" wide vinyl, then affixed to boards and covered with polyurethane. Finish is great in that it is not real slick like some boards I have seen. Bags don't slide off real easy. Gary

Time for second gear repair
dingy replied to yamagrl's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Honda bond is fine. I used it on Tweety & Hybrid. It doesn't take a thick coat of this to work. Excess will be squeezed out and end up inside case. Also need to stop slightly short of bearings. Damon covers this in video. Gary -
Bubber, Attached PDF is related to GD&T. May be of some help. I have it hanging in my office. Gary

Rear brake puzzle
dingy replied to Rosie1965's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
If the bolts have 'tightened' and caliper still has movement, possibility is that the un-threaded portion of the caliper bolt is to long. The bolt may be running out of threads and feeling like it is tight. Gary
