  1. Send me your e-mail, just got a new phone today and have to try to figure out if the Droid platform can sync with Windows 7.
  2. It was Red's Rods and choppers on Hwy 123 (west side of Greenville). I have been using Cycle Werx, but they are so slow, it is ridiculous, so I figured I'd give these guys a try. I concur that I should not have left the helmet on the (back) seat of the bike but rather have kept it or laid it in the sidecar, which is why I am hesitant to blame them. On the other hand .... if you're that concerned about your tire changing ability that you need to take a test ride ........ They are aware and stated to let them know what they would have to do to make it right. It's not that I don't have another helmet -or two- so I am probably going to suggest he trade some future labor ( maybe a couple of hours) which I think would be reasonable. Let you know!
  3. Went and had my new front tire installed at a shop yesterday. When I pulled my bike with leaning sidecar around to the shop the mechanics facial expression was ....interesting (shall we say). When he finished he took the bike down the road. This raises the question: Why? I have never had anyone take my bike (or my car) down the road after changing tires, I can see why they would but am wondering if this was more the result of the guy taking the opportunity to ride my rig (remember the facial expression). The problem is that my 3/4 helmet was laying on the passenger seat and he assumed it was tied down :confused07: . Helmet went flying down the road at whatever speed, visor scratched up, rear vent is flat out gone, scuff marks all over the shell with some serious abrasions on the back. Helmet was only about a year old and though it wasn't the most expensive one, it had never been dropped and had no scuffs period. I am at a loss on what to do with this. In short: is it normal for a shop to take a bike out after a (front) tire change? What if anything does the shop owe me for the helmet?
  4. I'm running offset highway boards on mine, had them in classified for about a year with no takers so I put them back on the bike (but we can talk). First thought on plain pegs is that they will point slightly forward unless you attach them on the vertical support of the engine guard which means you will be partially blocked by the guard itself and only the outside half will be available for your feet. Using the "longhorn" style pegs or boards will give you full use of the pegs and allow you to angle them in slightly to make your feet meet them more squarely. I like the boards on mine for long hauls, just not in the mountains and they kinda get in the way with the sidecar. I have not had issues with them scrapping but I am not an aggressive driver. Pay me the right price and I'll take mine of (they look pretty much like new) and send them to you.
  5. When I was probably about three I sat on a small folding wooden seat (like a coffee table) when it collapsed on me; my fingers to be precise. Cut the tips of five total - both hands- and bone showing on two. I remember laying on the ER table waiting for the doctor, whom I'm told took two hours to show up How'd I do, did I win????
  6. Found this while looking for info. wondered if this would be of benefit for those who run a trike or are triking their bike? http://www.emltrike.com/img/uploads/foto/ExtensoDive.jpg Oops, here's the whole page: http://www.emltrike.com/en/SIDECAR/2/MADE%20BY%20EML/109/2#ExtensoDive
  7. An inch of toe in???? WOW!!! I'm running probably about an 1/8th, but then I've got me a totally different animal then you do. Let me add this, I had the rig tuned rock solid and I could run 80mph and take my hands of the handle bars, 'cause my sidecar tire was shot in about 3K miles. Re-tuned to my current set up and I'm golden. Might want to check that set up.
  8. Developed for the V-Max, has anyone put one of these on a MkI? they are 110's instead of the OEM 120. What's your experience? Thanks!
  9. I can understand wanting a CT on a rigid, but only 3K on the rear tire "because he runs a sidecar", that would seem to be a totally separate issue, and possibly not even related to the hack. I would have to go back to my old computer to find the exact number, but I would submit that I got 8 to 12K out of my last Dunlop 404.
  10. I got a sidecar :confused24: Don't play golf though!
  11. Ahh, that explains it! When my wife got rear ended in her car she stopped too close to the one in front of her and didn't leave herself an out ........... C'mon, no offense, but that is about as ridiculous as you can get. Jump out of a lane into a lane of moving traffic without looking, or opposing traffic, or in your hurry to get out of the way you run into someone next to you. Yeppers, them's responsible actions. Of course that's just my opinion.
  12. Almost time to replace the front tire on my '83 and since I am hauling a leaning sidecar around, I am considering changing width to see about improved handling. Who's done what and with what result. Pro's and con's? thanks!
  13. Yup, what he said!!!
  14. I looked at the WalMart driving lights too, can't beat the price, but ....... the two wire leads exit the housing at the tip of the cone on the back and the ones I had in my hands did not have a rubber grommet to protect the wires where they exited the housing. I think they were 50 or 55 Watts. So I went to O'Reily's, same size light except 35 Watts (which is good given the crappy stator we have), the two wire leads exit the light on the side (next the the mounting bracket) of the housing which makes for a cleaner install. They do cost $5 more than Wallyworld and the lens bezel does not have the extra step in it, which I actually prefer Even though I have a set of Squidly's brackets, I installed mine on the old horn brackets which keeps them tucked in tight. The downside of that approach it that you cannot angle them out to widen your field of vision, but considering the size they just didn't look right "out there". (Btw. I have a Stebel mounted on the air dam) As far as the stock headlight, the quick, easy and cheapest thing to do is to install the Ultra.
  15. turn the mounts around .... they won't fold down
  16. Silly question maybe, but you're describing using different helmets, not that you actually swapped positions. How do you hear when you're plugged into the back control and she in front? Maybe she has a hearing problem? I can't see this being a wiring issue, seems like that would create skips and static. So I would be more inclined to look at a problem with the unit itself, which means "dealer time" But what the heck do I know?!
  17. don't worry about the warning light, mine's been flashing since I changed to LED's and I don't even notice it.
  18. Did you use the .125 or the .140? If I measured correctly the gap is an eight but .015 more might be a better seal?
  19. Went out riding yesterday and on the way home ran slap into a major downpour:depressed: (***note to self: stop and don rain gear :doh:before you hit wall of water:rain2:) Anyway, stuff in the trunk and bags got wet, I know there is a "gasket" running through the lid, can these still be had and if so where? If not, what are the alternatives? Thanks
  20. :think:I wonder if firing a paintball gun would be considered assault with a "deadly" weapon? Brenda would be very busy!!
  21. I've replaced my 50W fog lights with 35W driving lights (2.5") from O'Reilly's. $25.00 I did look at the Kuryaken (sp?) but they were almost identical to what I got for three times the money. Wally world has some similar for $6 less and I would be back at the 50W lights, but the wiring comes out the back as opposed from the bottom and I did not see a rubber grommet around the wire. I do get a slight jump in the volt meter when I turn them on, but not nearly as bad as the 50W. Of course all my running lights and tail/brake lights are LED's. I've got mine tucked in tight on the old horn brackets (MkI) which does prevents me from widening my light field. Oh, and looking in a plate glass window, they are brighter then my HID headlight. Maybe I need to point them a little better:think:
  22. I offered one that came of a MkII I had cut down three inches last year for folks to try. Of course that thing was an inch shorter then then my MkI. I wound up removing two inch from my stock MkI shield and like it just fine; did flatten the top instead of following the old curve all the way. I am 5'9" (or 179cm) - or used to be anyway -with a 32" inseam. Most of the air goes over my head, any lower and I would have had much more buffeting, but I can see over the shield, stretch a little and the wind will blow water of the shield or duck and get some more protection. At two inch lower the top of the shield runs below line of sight for me. It's not hard to do, you'll be fine! Good luck!
  23. Amen brother! :happy65:
  24. You want my professional opinion? No, not dogs, spots are too big and they aren't round, besides there is no evidence of dogs tracking back and forth along the fence line. Spots are too even in shape and seem to start/stop on the same plane which would indicate man made. MC exhaust would be a good possibility but they might be too close together. Do you use a commercial zero turn mower? Pump motors put out heat and have cooling fans on the belt pulley. The spots fall within the apparent mowing width shown on the pic, so a stopped but running mower would fit. Look to see if the "burn" is lighter or thinning on one side (i.e. less defined), which would definitely indicate heat. I see you spray your fence line to eliminate trimming, careless use of herbicide may have caused this, but not overnight and I'd have to go back to the symmetry which would make it improbable. A spill of something like a solvent of gasoline would cause this, but again, two slightly elongated spots even in size, side by side; not likely.
