Just curious here (and possibly too late), if Darrell were to buy a "used" trailer from someone like e.g. Freebird, would he save on taxes/import duties because it is a "used unit"?

I'd just like to see it come arounf in my lifetime!!

>>Nonsense, Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt. You want to put an MP3 song onto an iPod or rip a song from a CD onto an iPod -- so do it. iPods are not limited to the iTunes store. The iTunes software -- a free download -- provides a convenient way to manage a music library, to transfer music to iPods and to burn music files to CDs (among other things that the software does). The music files can come from anywhere, in a variety of formats. The iTunes Store sells music files that are encoded in formats that can only be used in iPods, and that have limitations on how they can be copied, in accordance with the demands of the music companies that own the licensing rights to the music. iPods are not limited to music from the iTunes store. The free iTunes software is the easiest way to load iPods with music, podcasts, etc. that have been obtained from anywhere. Well, imagine that!! I was at Circuit City just two days ago and that is what they told me! Now you're telling me they were wrong?? Just can't find good help anymore!!

Won't be back home till Sunday night late. Weather permitting I'm going to be slammed next week (work) so it'd be next weekend the earliest.

And you would haveto ask that when i am sititng in Ohio????

I was actually considering installing permanent plug (similar to the small 7 wire trailer plugs) in the fairing and carry a pigtail adaptor so you would not need to remove the cover. just plag 'n play. Just need to find the plug.

All those bikes and none have a RPM guage?? Maybe you should buy a Real bike, ... maybe a Mk1:big-grin-emoticon: (jk) I'll see what I can do about the pic, lest someone else has one floating around. Barend

Looked down today on my way home and I am passing 55 in 5th while running 2600 RPM, about 500 shy of normal. coming to a stop I am showing about 1900 which slowly drops down to about 12. Seems somthing is sticking. Outside temp was about 57, although she was sitting in an unheated building which was considerably colder. Is this a cable drive? (Can't find it in the service manual) If not, can you lubricate the RPM gauge?

barend replied to barend's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
To answer some questions; I told the shop about this site and gave them the address and the likely cause that many of you have found (the CMS). Also told them the tech manuals are on line plus i handed them my Service Manual. As far as why or how they bypassed the RSL or the CMS, don't know! they certainly had access to the right information. I paid them $195; this included lubricating the speedo cable and odometer, 'cause that thing started screaming like a banshee. The invoice does not specify a charge for the relay but does list 4 fuses. Being self employed I tend to weigh my time (loss of revenue) vs. shop costs, so although I may well be able to fix this myself, it may take me more time then I am willing to invest. Having said that, I was rather put out by the fact that this seems to be more a patch then a repair AND their re-assembly left my choke inaccessible, my clutch lever pointing the wrong way and the tank fairing flopping around. Whether their work aggravated the operation of the other sensor lights (brakes, oil and fuel) would be anyones guess. i.e. I am lookin at trying to figure this out myself -
The low beam on my '83 was dim and according to most all that would have related to the computer. Shop figured it was a relay. As it turns ou it they ound a burned wire in the harness. Unfortunatey the new wire run bypasses the computer, which means my warning light stays on:headache: Two options, cut out the warning: how? :confused24:or re-wire again and this time do it right, but I am not that technical:confused: An advice would be welcome. Of course my wife says I should get a new bike:big-grin-emoticon:

:think:had to think for a sec, last time we were there we decided that next time we'd stay closer to the mall, around the intersection of western and N. Marine Blvd. The places there seem to be somwhat nicer, different eateries within walking distance as well as the mall and a starbucks close at hand. Love to come meet you all, but am not sure how that is going to fly with work, plus I don't quite feel like making the trip twice in a row (no offense). Stepson is deploying to Helmand Afganistan around that time as well, so we may go see him around that time as well. Murpphy says it won't be the same weekend :-(

My bike's at the shop since I drove the truck home so I can't measure, but I would wager that compared to the OEM radio/cassette (and amp) it is considerably smaller and you can pull the amp. Having gone through all the1st gen tech talk pages, It just seemed there are a lot of folks with radio problems looking for an alternative. This being weatherproof and smaller then a car stereo, might be a viable alternative for some folks. Just my 2 nickels!

I came across this site for a weatherproof radio if anyone is interested: http://www.cbxmanmotorcycles.com/Jensen-Jhd910-Heavy-Duty-Waterproof-Mini-Am-Fm-Wb-Stereo-With-Audio-Aux-In.aspx The only problem I see is the lack of mounting hardware.
