Perhaps before you tear into him you ought to check back with the other dealers whom you rejected and find out if they would have paid you by the long ton as well! Might save you from making an ass out of yourself. Just my thought.

When I traded my '02 dodge 3500 diesel I pulled the Edge performance chip. Haven't really tried to sell it yet, but if you would like to buy it (or know someone who would) I'm open to offers (new $500). Used it a year and boosted fuel efficiency by 25%. Since most of my driving involves pulling an enclosed trailer, I can't tell you what kind of gains to expect on the highway. performance gain is impressive! Oh, it doesn't fit on my current truck.

Oh, I'd love to jump in here full force, but I suspect this is already more political then Don or the other moderators like. To me the last part of the above quote reeks of ... awhh hell!! I cannot do it and abide by Don's "no politics" rule! So I'll say this, In the book "Atlas Shrugged" there is a chapter where the "hobo" tells the tale of what happened at the factory he used to work. If you read the book, you know what I am talking about, if you didn't, consider reading it. Then come back and claim some things are "just not right".

Intermittent charging?
barend replied to BJB's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
sounds kind of like what mine was doing today. voltage on the gauge would drop to or slightly below 12 while stopped and idling, but failed to come up with the passing lamps on. Had to turn those puppies off, let the voltage climb back up to the line in the green and then i could turn them back on without (significant) voltage drop. Running light don't seem to affect this curiosity. I'll be taking some readings, see what comes up. Nothing else, I have a brand new stator in the box which I can install.- 14 replies

how many of you have fallen asleep while riding? I did that once, some 25 years ago ('83) on a 650 Virago with throttle lock. Commuted 75 miles one way going down I20, late at night and tired, woke up as I lost balance. Probably a good thing I wasn't sitting on the back seat as well. No, I didn't go down.

Saddlebag construction?
barend replied to Snaggletooth's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I was envisioning a "tubular" shaped light, kind of like the engines on "Startrek's Enterprise", then I found these at J.C. Whitney. Like the lights, just not sure if they will look good on a Mk1. Obviously they won't have the side lighting effect that Michael's have. http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/Product/Pr-p_Product.CATENTRY_ID:2003427/c-10111/Nty-1/p-2003427/Ntx-mode+matchallpartial/N-10111/tf-Browse/s-10101/Ntk-AllTextSearchGroup?Ntt=led -
Saddlebag construction?
barend replied to Snaggletooth's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Been thinking about doing just that. The lights that is! Where'd you get yours, how did you run the wiring. Where are the pictures!!! (that is the rule, isn't it??) -
That's cause with age women "get old", men on the other hand "look distinguished"!!

Same here, 38.5% increase! I did wonder if I was mistaken on what I apid last week. With four dogs and five cats I started buying store brand a long time ago.

what's with the sidecar body though?? looks like it's sitting on a cradle, intended for some parade thingy maybe?? or are the wings of and this is a launch platform?
-
sure don't remember where I saw that picture, it was a "sidecar" flatbed hauler. If you don't want to mess with the trailer, maybe that is an option?

Oil level warning light.
barend replied to Marvin81's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Even after fixing the CPM I still have flashing red lights. Mine are fuel, brake and oil in order of frequency. I looking at it this way, you gassed up and you know you can run 150 miles; you checked the oil and it is full prior to departure and you don't have a drop in brake fluid or braking action; chances are it is a sensor/wiring problem. It's annoying but I don't have any of these warning bells on my Shadow and it seems to run fine. check your fluids before heading out, then without physical proof you have a problem, ignore/tape over the blinking red light. Enjoy your ride! -
Battery Cables??
barend replied to Bill W.'s topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
When I made mine, I added two pigtails per side. One for accessories/secondary fuse block. Just a thought. -
Just got back; 3hours and twenty including a coffee/fuel stop. had a great time, good seeing y'all. Was getting 43 mpg doing 75/80 and 40 doing 85/90. Now why was I thinking I needed a carb tune??

Looks like I'm gonna run down with my Bride!! She's not too hot on going through Atlanta but figures if she's gonna worry about me, might as well be there to hit me upside the head (just kidding!!) Anyway, be scooting down 85 from SC exit 19. Anybody else wants to meet up? Tentatively hitting 85 around 1330/1400 >> Atlanta about two hours later. Let me know. But the 19 yr old kid would not meet the qualifications ..... Actually heard yesterday instead of TARP and stimulus, each taxpayer!!! could have 900K. We'll skip the implications here!

Thought that would have been "Hewhocan'tgetbikeonroad"

My stepson is in Afganistan, he asked for socks since their feet are constantly wet, now he can wear and chuck. Also loved lip balm and pocket sized games, frisbee. computer access has been limited as has regular mail (they get packages but no9t letters). supposedly they are out now and won't have computer access for the next couple of months. We have gotten maybe three sat phone calls from him since deployment. Mostly they just work, eat and sleep. Wish him god speed!

Hey!! I want to trade!! My tool bag (right side saddle bag along with the chain lock) is all chewed up and smells like sour milk. Do have the dipstick though :happy65:but someone mentioned it's for the final drive not engine oil if I recall.

computer cutting out
barend replied to barend's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
All connectors that are within reach were cleaned and dielectric grease applied. Ground was solid when I redid my battery cables, so i will check into the harness for the panel and see what shows. If I can't find anything and the problem persists, i'll holler back. thanks for the feedback! -
My computer display is cutting out! Totally blank! After I had the pins re-soldered it has reset itself while riding a couple of times, but now I seem to have moved beyond that. It did come back on briefly after hitting a bump a couple of times but won't stay on which would seem to indicate a loose connection somewhere. 1. does the display have a separate power supply allowing everything to work without it showing? 2. should the bike run/start if the CPM quits/dies? 3. where would I start trying to figure this out? Thanks in advance!

While riding down Hwy 11 in SC yesterday, being distracted by my wife talking to me, i think I passed a maroon 1st gen yesterday, over at the Cliffs subdivision. Anyone here or did i just not see that right?

You will need more then one blue berry bush for pollination, also mulch with saw dust and remove flowers the first year. You may also check on your stone fruits whether you'll need more then one tree for pollination. I don't mess with fruit trees 'cause of all the extra spraying needed so memory is kind of vague. I've heard human hair scattered around the premises will deter critters as well. (and if it does, it's probably free at a barber shop)
