  1. Well I wrecked the RSV yesterday. Truck pulled out in front of me and I had to drop it. Missed the truck, but he drove off anyway. Plenty of witnesses though, but none got a license plate. It tore up the whole right side of the bike. Me, I went over the handle bars and landed on the right side of my helmet and my right shoulder. Stayed alert through the whole thing. I ended up breaking my scapula (shoulder blade) and my number 4 rib. In the process of doing this, it caused me to have a partial collapse of my right lung. Spent the night in the hospital. My lung inflated on its own without surgery, thank goodness and the rest will just take time to heal. Went and checked out the bike today. She fired up, but didn't sound good. It would idle and I could give it some gas, but it sounded a little sick. Just waiting to see what the insurance says about it before making any decisions. Anyway, stay safe and be alert out there.
  2. I'd take it!!
  3. I don't think it's your seat that's the problem. Like most of us here, we all have the same issue with handling. Most of us have added the dog bones (leveling links) from Diamond R Accessories. If that still doesn't do it for you, a narrower front tire (130) will do it. I've done both mods on mine and the handling is much better especially at slow speeds.
  4. Bigfoot, not sure what you're looking for, but there are a few options. Either get a cheap motorcyle/atv jack and use hockey pucks to get the clearance right, a centerstand or someone on here makes a jack adapter with it's own feet to lift the bike. I think it's Carbon One who makes the jack stand and it's for sale in the Classifieds section. If you let me know, I could stop by one day and help you out since I work at the Pentagon and just down the road from you.
  5. I use the Bead riders and love them. Allows air flow to get under your butt cooling you down. Just don't use them below 50 degrees. Gets cold.
  6. I switched to the 130 about mid summer and love it. Like some folks say, the parking lot is a breeze now. I actually like the feel of the tire at highway speeds especially the response. The response is much faster now and feels more like my Kawasaki Ninja instead of a huge touring bike.
  7. This is what I wear as far as keeping my whole body warm. I also have gauntlet gloves to keep may hands warm. I think they are made by olympus, not sure. The suit is great and I have worn it in the 20's with only dress pants and shirt on underneath. http://www.firstgear-usa.com/fgweb3.nsf/Products/D98A4D6D2D34292F862571F00077BE86?opendocument
  8. Folks, some of you may know about this and some may not. It is totally up to you if you want to try it or not, but I use it and have received checks from it. The website is www.mrrebates.com . This site has numerous stores, vacations, credit cards you can choose from. All of which gives you a percentage back based on how much you spend. So if you do a lot of shopping online like I, you could receive a nice check back. Not only do you get cash back, you also get the same specials that store is offering as well. They have all the major stores (Best Buy, Wal Mart, etc.). Just look for the percentage you get back on the right hand side to see how much money you could earn. It takes about 90 days for your cash to clear and once you get $20 in your account, you just request your check and it's in the mail to you. All you need is your email account to start. They don't spam you to death either. Only emails you will receive is when you have cash pending and weekly specials if you choose to get them. Worth a try. Hope to help save some folks cash during this time of the year. Chris
  9. Fine I'll mention TomTom. I have the Tom Tom 700 with a mount on the handlebars. No issues and have been using it for over a year now. Here's a pic of mine.
  10. I'm sweating like a whore in church.
  11. I believe Autopilot is talking of the Myrtle Beach area. I believe the strict enforcement on bikes is to deter the bike weeks they have during May. Apparently they had a little trouble last year and the city is a little tired of the bikers. Also, during the bike week with all the sport bikes, the city isn't taking in much revenue for the crowd that is there. In other words, they are not spending that money like the city thinks they should. So Myrtle Beach has come up with a plan for strict enforcement on bikes to deter them from having bike week in May. At least that was the last I heard.
  12. I'm pretty sure this is the correct part. It doesn't eliminate the passenger's seat, but just covers it. My Ninja ZX-12 had the same thing.
  13. I have the Barons Bag Slash pipes on mine. Just put them on about 2 weeks ago. I had the Road King Pipes. Very nice and loud. Not obnoxious, but loud. It does sound like a V8 when getting up to speed. I have headsets in my helmet and can hear the music with no issues.
  14. Yellow
  15. I was fortunate enough to have a hoon hardware mount for my XM radio attached to my brake master cylinder on the handlebars. I removed the XM because they began to talk to much and I was not paying for that. I bought a cheap touch screen MP3 player off ebay and just used velcro to mount it. I also used the flat top portion to do the same with my garage door opener. Very cheap and it looks good too.
  16. Glad to hear. I'll be getting one soon, but I have to sell be Center Stand first. I have a Freebird Center Stand that I had powdercoated silver. So if anyone is interested, let me know. I'll be putting it in the classifieds soon.
  17. Mine has been doing the same thing for about 6 months. No oil under the shock, but I have seen some type of oil coming from one of the hoses that run down under the bike. There's about 3-4 of them. I saw a few drops of a clear type of oily substance. Anyone with any idea as to what it might be?
  18. Definitely get some Seafoam in those things as well and let it sit in the carbs. Once you get it all running again, run a few cans through to make sure everything is nice and clean.
  19. Heated Gloves. Not hard to hook up. They even make a plug for the cigarette lighter. If not, the Harley FXRG Winter gloves are very warm.
  20. Where do I line up with my check made out to Kawasaki?
  21. As a first responder here at the Pentagon 7 years ago, thank you. We're busy today honoring all of those that gave their all. Finally the memorial is finished and it is a beautiful tribute. Hopefully all of you will make it down here to see it one day. If you do, let me know and I will give you a personal tour of the memorial and the inside of the building as well. Thanks to all first responders.
  22. Thanks for the quick response. I thought that, but wasn't sure.
  23. 2 quick stupid questions since I'm not at home looking at the bike. Does anyone know the diameter of the handlebars and the passenger grab rails to get a cup holder? Thanks.
  24. Found this one at cruiser customizing. Here's the link: http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/detail.cfm?model_ID=0&Category_ID=47&manufacturer_ID=308&product_ID=4978&sblid_name=Clear_Alternatives_Clear_Taillight_lens_for_V_Star__Road_Star__Royal_Star
  25. Well I actually didn't get to go to Rolling Thunder. I had the dreaded crunching and clicking rear end issue. It is in the shop today getting re-greased and aligned if needed. Mechanic knew exactly what the problem was. Glad you guys are home safe and had a great time.
