I got a FM transmitter from Sears for 26 bucks. You can plug in a usb drive or a SD card with your mp3s on it and hear them thru the radio. Works well. Better than the Cassette adapter by far. You need a 12v outlet, to plug it into. It did , fly off the bike while I pulled out of this campsite and I lost it LOL I may have been showing off. I had to go up this gravel hill. and I charged up and bounced around. 10 mins later I saw my tunes were gone.

chatter sound
ddoggma replied to friesman's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I had a clacking sound, on excel and decell. When I took off my old collector. The bracket on the top was busted in three places. With the new unit on, all those noises are gone. Alot of the stuff I was experiencing was from the collector being shot. Now my baby is a hottie again...lol I'm scraping my toes for the first time in a while:cool10: -
Got my collector
ddoggma replied to ddoggma's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
It's on the bike and all seems well. The hard part for me was getting the backside of the collector up onto the back headers enough to bolt up the mufflers. Thought I missed em, with the collector nipples. But after some banging it was up far enough. More power, runs way better...doh! Now I need a carb sync. -
You want a first gen...... Find a super sweet one for like 3 grand and have a blast. They are out there. Super bike, plenty of comments, excellent ride all around. I'm just saying...

Got my collector
ddoggma replied to ddoggma's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I heard it will. Its in one of the other collector threads, somewheres -
I got my used collector today in the mail. $90.00 shipped from cyclepsycho.com It needs the tabs for the front mount rewelded, but it looks to be in good shape otherwise. Should I paint it with a anti rust paint or something. Before I install it? I also have to snug up one of the rear exhaust pipes, cause it can be wiggled a little.

Before your bike goes over! Make sure you have a tie down strap. To hold the center stand from collapsing. Use the strap to tie the center stand to the forward engine guard. Snug it up good and tight. Dont ask my about how I know... There is a how too. on this in the first gen section. You should read it.

Glad your alive bro. Hang in there. -
I had a rather big hole, I tryed to plug. Its worked. But the plug started working it's way out. After a week or two. Had to buy a new tire. Hurt too, cause the one I replaced, was damn near new.

Thanks for the great ride, and good times. The lakes were impressive and massive. I did not know that. Camped in Draper,PA sat night. Then stopped at the PA "grand Canyon" by Wellsboro. Lots of nice scenic rides to be had. In that area. Bike was cranky cause, one of my buddies welded spots on the collector, failed a little.lol I was lucky thou, she had a sweet spot at 4000rpm that she would good good at. PS: Magees' dinner is the bomb!

My "88" has not nickle and dimed me. Nor, has it cost me much cash. All she wants from me is gas, tires and fresh 15-40, every 3000 or so. I love her. LOL! $1500.00 bucks and 20,000 miles later.... I think I will never, sell this bike. Lately I have got her purring down the road better, since I grew a pair and drained the bowls. I will be the first to say "I have been lucky" but the first gens are solid. cept for the plastic:225:

Dan,Your hosed at this point. If you are not a computer hobbyist. The virus has sunk in deep at this point. The safest way to go is to buy a new hard drive and then reinstall the "operating System" that came with the computer. On a side note Skid has the right idea. If you just surf and send emails etc. You dont need to spend more that 200.00 for a new puter. Do you have a "Micro Center" near you? they have good deals. Also, you could "f-disk" your hard drive, and then "reformat" and then install the OS with disks you have on hand.If this stuff is greek to you, you will need a computer guru friend to do it. Sorry buddy I wish I was closer... http://www.microcenter.com/search/search_results.phtml?page=3&N=4294967292&Ns=P_RetailPrice&Nso=Ascending

Sorry To hear you got hit. It a PITA to get rid of this crap.I use "Avast" free version to keep them away. I have had some luck with an app called "SuperAntiSpyware" It got me back once oe twice. But its a long hard road.Reinstall is the way to go. Start looking for your install disks that came with the computer. Last guy, with no bootup, sounds like RAM. Just had that with one I built for my sister in law.Swapped out the RAM She is fine now. Good luck guys.

I had the Kenda Kruz tires, and I liked them fine. But, the rear developed cracks in the tread. I think I posted pix of the tire. And also the front has a sort of beveled, profile. Makes the bike go into turns fast, but also more top heavy at parking lot speed. Running E3s' now and love em. Ran over a drill chuck...sigh Had to replace the rear tire with less than 3000 miles on it:headache:

I got that DEKA Batt from advanced auto also. It solved my starting worries. Seems to be holding up well. Had it 4 months now.

I just had to replace a rear E3 with less than 4000 miles on it...sigh. I pickedup a drill bit chuck. The gear end stuck in my tire and I heard slap, slap, slap. Got it home tryed to plug it. It threw the plug in a couple weeks. SO, I had to get a replacement. CycleGear price matched the lowest price I could find on the web. And I bought there replacement warranty, so it will be replaced free if something else happens. At any Cycle Gear in the country I'm told. They also mounted it for a fee. I took it off the bike. It was a fresh tire and all's well again.

Welcome home, Thanks for your service.

Yo, my 88 is running well. But I do need to address a couple things. Hopefully, I can get some cash up to fix my scoot.

I have put over 1000 miles on the bike in the last two weeks. My van blew a headgasket and I have been running around all over. Looking for a replacment. Heavy traffic, fast slabs the works. Most days somebody gets too close. But today I had two aholes do stuff infront of me that could have gone bad. If I wasn't looking out for them. Be safe out there is right. and if you ride alot dont get complacent. You can get so in the zone, that you can get suprised by the weight of the bike if your not thinking about keeping your feet in the right spot to keep from tipping over. I almost went over the other day...lol:backinmyday:
