In regards to refurbing a TCI box
ddoggma replied to casiper's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
IS it just me? Or does that look like one, bad cap, nasty ass circuit board. I sure hope mine don't look like that...lol, But I know is does:Avatars_Gee_George: I had water shooting up thru the air vents, one day. That didn't help, So far bike runs well. -
I feel your pain.... I have gone thru this type of thing, and it sucks.God Bless Her.

The rest look good as new...lol I'll check em again before I buy. But it wasn't as bad as I thought to get at the cable box. SO I may roll the dice on the one. Its #3. Thanks for all the help , guys

Mk II throttle cables (89 Royale)
ddoggma replied to frankd's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Mine went today about 5 miles from home, with a bad reg and inspection...lol. I drove it home with a pair of pliers as a suicide throttle. I guess its time to tear that left fairing off. I'm gonna have questions..... -
When I went up for the NY ride last summer I stayed at Cayuga state park,They do have sites right on the lake for boaters. And I had no problem with the bike at night finding a spot. Its nearby Seneca Falls. There are a couple of pubs right there and it was a nice spot. Also that banging dinner is just up the road and sunrise over that Montezuma wildlife park was awesome.

On my first "real" MC I made a pass like that. Not as close, but too close. My Magna 500cc, sort a ran out of top end as I was passing this semi at about 80mph. I swear he was speeding up on me. Had to pull in right on his front bumper at about 85mph to get out of the semi coming the other way. Pucker factor was high. If I was on my 88 Venture I would have blasted past that *@....

New Tire Selection - Need Help
ddoggma replied to cabreco's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
From what I have gathered, the E3 is as close to a radial tire as we can get. They say,... "Features a tire profile modeled after the shape of modern radial-construction tires and with many of the same benefits" I like mine alot. -
Trout Brook rd, All the way at the end if you go straight. Instead of taking a right, to the beaver pond and spring. My land is now owned bye the Rod and Gun Club. On the right. I also rented an apt in Roulette right across the street from that gas station/minimart. For a month or two. Could not find enough work to stay. My landlady was name Amy Baker. She was a sweet heart. I come up for the first week in June sometimes to catch the Road Rally [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fxgy7nsZC2o]STPR Rally 2011 Recap - YouTube[/ame]

Been thru Bradford, Port Royal, Olean, Had 11 acres in Roullett. Love that area. Ever been to the "starlite" bar aka: the bomb shelter! Good times.

Im gonna be in the Coudersport Wellsboro, area, at least twice this summer. It's my favorite getaway for camping and chillin'. Hope we can hook up.
-
I bought one of those. And it worked well. Till it flew off the bike at a campground. Did not notice till I was too far away to go back. Gonna get another one for this spring. Nice in the cage too.

Patching a rear or any MC tire
ddoggma replied to PGunn's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Same thing happened to me. Only my hole was big. Drill Chuck went into my tire. Not a small homeowner drill chuck..... I plugged it. And it threw the plug. So I replaced the tire. Might still try to do the patch and plug. To use it as a spare. -
Lane splitting for me is just to much of a risk, You cant tell what the cagers are gonna do. SO its not a smart thing to do. Does not matter to me if its legal or not.

Best Accessory Update for 1st Gen (cosmetic and otherwise)
ddoggma replied to Rick Haywood's topic in Watering Hole
Aftermarket fork brace, New progressive spring in forks, and SS brake lines, plus you could swap out the front brake calipers for newer R6 ones, I think. After that its Vmax cams, Vboost........etc. I think the fork brace is the most bang for least cash and work. I still need to get one for my bike. Its on the list for springtime. -
Nope. I dont like it.
-
So glad your not banged up too, bad. god speed.

I think Wixx makes the NAPA filter I have been using. Part #PS 4933 Guy at the counter told me wixx makes them and Valvoline makes their oil.

That's a nice one. I got one two weeks ago for 85 bucks shipped. Its not as nice. But, its in fair shape, doing its job well, etc. I used that new "bill me later" thing and got 10 bucks of my first purchase.
